Five-Hundred Word Challenge 363: That Which Lies Before Me

The morning is bearing the day onward into unknown territories as a car drives around the highway that waves around coasts, along cliffs and through plains.

The sky continues to heave and convulse among the amphitheater of the life that needs to be lived in order to get to a destination that is one that is not quite known, but will one that one is trying to reach.

I can only see that which lies before me, as well as the things that I am able to imagine in my mind.

There is an unlimited reach within there, far beyond what I thought would be possible when I was a younger man, but the world outside of there is as equally vast and immeasurable to my insignificant being.

There are things that need to be seen to be believed, but they are there, out there waiting to be seen. They are there waiting to be experienced.

There are amazing vistas surrounded by amazing scenes and small areas full of wonder and excitement and they are all outside of the worlds that I can create in my mind.

They are all there for people to see and discover and yet all we do is go into cities and keep ourselves contained to small areas, whilst the world remains forgotten and gradually unexplored, despite the proliferation of the effects of human activity almost everywhere.

There are things that cannot be seen all of the time, but require specific conditions in order to be seen.

There are days beyond the next few that will eventually be visited.

There are desires that can be fulfilled.

There is a lot out there and there is a lot inside, but there needs to be times when beyond the door we must venture in order to see a little more of what is out there, as well as little more of ourselves.

There is so much to see and do and yet all we will do is rest on our laurels as the waves crash and the wind blows through leaves and branches and the days go on by, unassumingly in order to get to the next station of life.

There is so much, so very much that we do not know about the planet and yet we assume so much about it and it is a real shame.

I know that in order to go on further I must trip the root and reach the goal that is set before me, lest I decide not to and give up on the journey ahead, leaving m,e to only ponder what could have been instead of what awaits.

We need to make sure that we always push on forward to a new destiny, for there is many a route that can be taken and in looking back and refusing to move we only stung our own growth through the journey of life.

But the sky is heaving and convulsing, and the lands push out forever and a day.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:37:21

So this is another one that got a bit more serious than I expected and it really could have been worded much better.

Oh well.

Written at work.

About Stupidity Hole

I'm some guy that does stuff. Hoping to one day fill the internet with enough insane ramblings to impress a cannibal rat ship. I do more than I probably should. I have a page called MS Paint Masterpieces that you may be interested in checking out. I also co-run Culture Eater, an online zine for covering the arts among other things. We're on Patreon!
