So it finally happened.
Someone decided that it was a good idea to let me anywhere near a stage and play my own, ego boosting music.
I got there far too early, but I wanted to be punctual, so punctual I was.
There were a many number of bands that played before I took to the stage. That number was five. Not all of them were bands. In fact, you could say that there was only one band, a duo and three solo artists.
I was on just before the final band of the night. The band that was support cancelled, then reneged on their cancellation which is something that I was miffed by (as well as some others). If you cancel, that should be the final line. Their choosing to renege pushed everything further back than it had been had they not cancelled in the first place.
Anyway, they were missing a kick pedal which they got someone to get for them (or procure another kick pedal from somewhere else), which of course allowed them to save the day for themselves.
This meant that unfortunately my time was cut short, but I wasn’t going to be on for too long anyway (originally ten minutes, reduced to five) and it didn’t affect my ability to perform.
What affected by performance was my forgetting lines and certain changes. It was a most wonderful thing that was a thing that occurred to me, as it were, or so they say, and so on.
It would be fair to say that I screwed up a fair bit.
It was my time to shine, I did it, screwed up and I’m fine with that. I can’t do anything abut the mistakes at this stage and I wasn’t embarrassed. To be honest, I was happy to have the opportunity and I was happy to play something that was my own music.
Besides which, I also go from somewhat-tense, to noisy and abrasive, and then to calm and ambient in a brief period of time, which is fine by me.
