Just Some Stuff on Writing

So yesterday I was going to get a bit more directly personal than I’ve been in a long time.

Yesterday was a day of being quite nonfunctional and I wanted to touch on the subject, but I didn’t as, well, I was quite nonfunctional.

At the moment it’s making me think about needing to do a lot and enjoying being busy, but also not being able to bring myself to write about my life in a direct, personal manner. It may have to do with a strong desire to not really touch on my life as much as I used to. Not entirely sure.

When I think back on how long I’ve been writing for, I think about the few years where I was doing very little writing-wise. I think about how certain events led to my writing once more and how, despite the slow and continuing crawl that is my working on producing something decent combined with my output, I still enjoy writing.

I think I enjoy it almost as much as I enjoy working on music.

Sometimes I feel like stopping, mostly due to how much time I spend on writing. Then I get back into it. It’s one of the few addictions I consider to be good to have.

There’s a lot of things that you can say about writing; that it can take a long time; that it’s frustrating; that it’s difficult. These might all be correct given certain contexts, but I think the important thing to recognise about writing is that it’s a powerful and flexible medium.

Maybe I’ll start moving Stupidity Hole toward being more personal. I’m not entirely sure. I do think there is a need for a bit of a change, but who knows what will happen down the track?

I’m still not feeling all that functional, but today is a better day than yesterday, so we’ll see what comes out.

About Stupidity Hole

I'm some guy that does stuff. Hoping to one day fill the internet with enough insane ramblings to impress a cannibal rat ship. I do more than I probably should. I have a page called MS Paint Masterpieces that you may be interested in checking out. I also co-run Culture Eater, an online zine for covering the arts among other things. We're on Patreon!
