Angophora costata is better known as Sydney red gum. Probably is more common in Sydney than other places.
Here’s a small part of a Sydney red gum that I saw whilst bushwalking last week. Whilst the resin was mostly solidified, it looked rather fresh. Not sure if it was; just is how it looked to me.
I think that here the resin helps to expand the range of colour shading on the trunk. I also like how it “disturbs” the trunks smoothness without taking away from the image.
