A few days ago I was going through my emails to work out what to delete.
I try to keep them a bit more organised than I used so I don’t miss stuff I think is important. Anyway, as I was going through my emails I came across the below which I thought was pretty silly and ineffective as far as scams go.

I removed the sender’s and airport’s names as a just in case, but otherwise the below is as it was written.

Hello,

I’m , Head of Operations(Storage, Maintenance & Transportation) here at International Airport. During my recent Withheld Package routine check at the Airport Storage Vault, I discovered a shipment belonging to you, which was abandoned by a Diplomat. When I scanned the shipment, it revealed US dollar bills(money) in a Metal Trunk Box, weighing approximately 100kg with a value of over US$5 million, judging from the volume of the contents and weight of the shipment.

The shipment was abandoned because the content was not properly declared by the Diplomat as “MONEY” but rather, as personal treasures, probably to evade inspection. Also the inability of the Diplomat to pay for the Airport Non-Inspection Charges of $5,7000USD contributed to the abandonement of the trunk box.

I found your details in the official payment documents that are tagged to the Trunk box, hence my reason for contacting you. However, to confirm if you’re the actual recipient of this shipment, I will advise you provide a Government issued ID with your names and address on it, to enable me to cross-check the information with the details on the official payment documents.

Note that this shipment ought to have been turned over to the United States Treasury Department as unclaimed property, due to the delay in concluding the clearance processes. Once I confirm you as the actual recipient of the trunk box, I will go ahead and settle the Non-Inspection Fee of $5,700USD and get the clearance processes concluded within 48 hours. We can then arrange for the shipment to be delivered to your doorstep personally by me to avoid any troubles.
