So I was almost run over about an hour ago, and I’ve called the courier service that the car was from and they didn’t care. It was Laverty Pathology’s courier service.
I was crossing a pedestrian crossing and I was half the way across when the driver was slowing down, then decided to not stop, speed back up and shoot on over. I had to stop or I would’ve been run over. Driver waved at me as they went over. Stopped nearby to make their delivery too.
Call the courier service, they ask me to email their boss. I ask them to pass the details on, they take the details down, tell me to email their boss again, I refuse, they tell me they’ve a lot of calls and then hang up.
I’m going to call later.
I imagine I could’ve been more helpful in taking down the email address, but I’ve just told you that one of your workers nearly took me out and your reaction to it is a big shrug. That just isn’t cool.
I am going to contact them later to make sure the details were passed on, but if they weren’t I am going to consider taking it further. The driver made a bad decision and had time to stop and didn’t. Bad move. Courier service expresses indifference toward the issue. I don’t think that’s a good way to approach one of their drivers nearly injuring someone.
I have to wonder if this is a regularly occurring thing with Laverty Pathology. I have to wonder if they get a lot of complaints about this and are checked out. I don’t know, however, I and I can’t say for certain. What I can say is that this was a poor experience and I don’t know if I’d be comfortable with them handling my results on anything if this is something that happens regularly.
Say it is a one-off, or a rare thing. I get that people make mistakes. The lack of care from them when going to complain about it doesn’t fill me with confidence.
There are a lot of drivers out there that don’t drive as though they understand that they could permanently alter someone else’s life. They don’t seem to grasp that other people actually exist and all it takes is one decision to forcibly change someone’s direction. I think driving needs to be treated more as a privilege, and it’s something that too many take for granted.
I don’t know if this driver does or does not appreciate the fact that they’re driving a heavy and dangerous bit of machinery, and I doubt I’ll ever find out. However, I do know that unless Laverty Pathology take action, I cannot in good conscience say that the overall experience indicates that they have an interest in how their drivers act.
But who am I to complain? I’m just someone who was nearly run over by one of their drivers. Does anyone really care about that?
The time it took to write five-hundred words: 11:42:74
Slow bit of writing, this one.
I’ll make sure my complaint gets through, but this is what I experienced and so far it has not been a good one.
Written at work.
