During my recent walk through Balls Head Reserve I planned on taking my friend from there to Milsons Point via the coastline. Unfortunately the path is now blocked off around Sawmiller’s Reserve (though I might be remembering the pathway incorrectly) so we finished our walk sooner than I’d anticipated.
Here’s part of the frame of what remains of an old boat as seen at Sawmiller’s Reserve, a reserve quite close to Balls Head Reserve.
I quite like the contrast between the water and the frame. The frame looks quite harsh due to experiencing weathering over a long period of time. It seems less inviting than the water. It also has a lot more detail in it due to lacking a general smoothness, unlike the water.
This is my submission into the one hundred-and-seventeenth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
The theme for this one is “A Photo Walk“.
I’m submitting this photo as it was taken during a walk where I was taking a number of photos. If I hadn’t shared photos of Balls Head Reserve and its surrounds prior to this one, I imagine I would’ve included more here.
The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:
Week 1 – Patti
Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya
Week 3 – Amy
Week 4 – Tina
Amy is hosting this challenge. Anne Leueen of Horse Addict is guest-hosting next week’s.
I recommend checking out how people are interpreting the challenges. I also recommend joining in. It’s a growing, fun community.
I hope you enjoy.

Such a great image. I really like how you captured the texture and the contrast of the water. Well done.

Thank you 🙂
Admittedly the water bit was completely by accident as I was focused entirely on this bit of the frame.

Oh dear SH, definitely not sea-worthy! We do love rusty old things tho, don’t we?! Good choice for the challenge.

I think it’s due to how they provide a different way of looking at an object. You know, association of history and all that stuff.
I might share more of the boat soon.

Nice shot! Such is life. Civilization decays, Nature remains. Well done.

Thank you 🙂
It’s interesting that nature does the same whilst remaining constant.
