We so Readily Call Them Bin Chickens

I took this photo last month, I think.

Whilst walking through Centennial Parklands I came across some birds picking through rubbish that someone had left near a bench.

I don’t know about the rest of Australia, but I do know that there are a number of Sydney-siders that like to refer to the Ibis as a bin chicken in a derogatory manner.

The older I’ve gotten, the more this has grown to disappoint and anger me as Ibes are a protected species in Sydney due to the fact that we destroyed their habitat. We destroyed their habitat and then have the gall to denigrate them for trying to survive.

I hope you enjoy.
