Five-Hundred Word Challenge 524: Diatribe Regarding Sand Dunes

I do not have much time and I feel the need to write and yet I have nothing that I can think of that would be worth writing about, so let’s go with the wall and see what sticks.

I was going to write about a chair before, but it was taking too long and it felt a little too thought out and now I have an itch that I need to scratch, but I cannot reach it as if I stop, then I will be in a position to slow down and slowing down is not what I want to do today. I want to race and keep on going and make sure that I get something of value out into the air and watch it float away and off into the hills where it will settle.

Maybe it will lead to some plants that will help rejuvenate the area. Maybe it will lead to plants that will help rejuvenate the sand dunes that need to be rejuvenated, for removing them exposed us to more coastal hazards.

People who think sand dunes are some form of eyesore and should be removed can go fuck right off, as far as I’m concerned. You don’t like nature? Tough. It’s here to stay and you can go and take your antiquated, backward view and shove it. Nature is far more important than your pretentious, high and mighty ass and your insane sense of entitlement does little else other than shit on nature as you continue to try and impose yourself upon it.

Then again, keep pushing to remove the sand dunes and hopefully your place will be washed away with the next large storm. Maybe then you’ll learn why they are important to keep.

There are a lot of things that are important for nature and us to function, and yet we continue to trample upon them. Help bring back nature. Stop shitting on it. It’s more important than any of us.

Actually, maybe that is why we continue to destroy it as much as we can. We’re insecure as we are not as important as we’d like to believe and so we continue to desecrate and destroy as much as we can in order to make ourselves important.

Anyway, leave the damn sand dunes as they are, and the ones that have been removed… well, help restore them back to a natural state.

Erosion cannot be prevented, but it can be mitigated. Sand dunes are an important part of the ecosystem as they help protect everything behind them. Stop pushing to have them removed just because you don’t like the sight of them. You can have your expensive house near the beach protected because they’re there, you fool.

Obviously not everyone has this attitude, but there are far too many out there who think that nature is something that is beneath them and it irks me.

If anything, we are beneath nature as we keep thinking that it’s something to remove.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:47:08

I think that it’s interesting as to how I switched to talking about sand dunes.

Kind of interesting as to how drastic that switch was.

Written at work.
