During my recent visit to The Royal Botanic Garden in Sydney I saw this silver gull floating about seemingly aimlessly on the water’s surface. Occasionally it would move, but otherwise it appeared to be content doing very little.
This shot shows the silver gull reaching for something in the water. I don’t know what it was, but I like how the gull appears due to its reaching.
This is my submission into the one hundred-and-twenty-sixth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
The theme for this one is “Subjects That Begin With the Letter A”.
As this photo shows a gull not doing much moving about and instead mostly adrift, I feel it fits the theme.
The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:
Week 1 – Patti
Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya
Week 3 – Amy
Week 4 – Tina
This week’s challenge is curated by Patti. Next week Amy is curating.
The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.
I hope you enjoy.
That is unusual, SH. Usually gulls are so busy feeding. This one was having a lazy day! Adrift–a good way to describe it!

It’s something I’ve seen on the odd occasion, but it remains a rare sight.

Very creative SH – the gull is indeed adrift!

Just floating there, seemingly aimlessly.

Looks as though it may have spotted something it wants to nibble on, though. But who knows? 🙂

Who knows indeed? I couldn’t see what it was, but apparently the gull could 🙂

Excellent. Adrift, astray, awry, amiss, actionless. 🙂
