This is a photo I took yesterday before the thing I was photographing.
I think that this shot decontextualises The Sydney Opera House.
This still is The Sydney Opera House; it appears as such, but it also feels like something different.
I really like how the light falls on the sails, but admittedly I had to do a bit of work to bring that forward. I think it helps to carry attention across the sails in a sort of “back and forth” manner.
This is my submission into the one hundred-and-thirty-second Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
The theme for this one is “Striped and Checked“.
I feel that this image fits the challenge due to the striped pattern the tiles help to provide.
The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:
Week 1 – Patti
Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya
Week 3 – Amy
Week 4 – Tina
This week’s challenge is curated by Leya. The next one will be curated by Amy.
The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.
I hope you enjoy.
Nice.

You’re right SH, the opera house is the opera house no matter which piece of it one focuses on. The faint appearance of the checked pattern makes one study the image even more.

I hadn’t considered that. I was trying to make them less faint when processing, so I’m glad I wasn’t able to completely diminish their faintness.

Good one S.H. I like the isolation of the sails, without the rest of the structure. Excellent.

Now to see if I can capture the same thing in a different way.
