A River’s Mouth

Which River? Karuah River.

The land at the mouth isn’t too far away from where this photo was taken.
It would take a bit of time to walk though.

I like that you get an idea of how massive the size of the mouth is.
I also like how there are a few long waves among the smaller ones as it changes the texture of the water.
I also like that the water appears both to be flat and not at the same time.

I think the richness of some of the colour works with the scene. It’s strong but not overbearing.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this one is “Landmarks”.

Now I’m aware that when this challenge was issued it was in reference to famous sites. However, this image counts as this mouth can be used as a landmark to work out where you are.

That and they also mark a point where the land above water ends.
