This was taken a few weeks ago during a particularly warm day.
The grass in the park area had yellowed from lack of rain.
The ibes were coping with the heat as well as they could, though they may have been desiring more than scattered shade.
This photo is available as a print.
This is also my submission into the eighty-third Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
The theme for this one is “Future“.
I feel that this shot fits as animals and their well-being is likely going to be a strong part of our future.
The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:
Week 1 – Patti
Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya
Week 3 – Amy
Week 4 – Tina
This one is hosted by Leya. The next will be hosted by Amy.
I recommend checking out the challenge to see how people interpret each theme.
I also recommend giving it a go.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Absolutely true Brian. Animals are pretty good at adapting if humans will just let them be! Sadly we keep messing up their environments

Brian?
The ibis is a protected species in Sydney as we essentially removed their home from existence. Don’t know how many people are aware of that, however. A lot seem to treat them as a nuisance, but we can only keep on working toward education and proactive improvement.

Oh sorry, had just replied to BushBoy Brian. My bad. We live our ibis here on Kiawah

True we will have to take better care of environments and habitats – not only for the birds.

A long, but worthwhile process I think.
