Shadows in The Megalong Valley

Here is a photo of part of The Megalong Valley.

I think that the clouds look rather massive here. I think that that is in part due to how the valley appears, as well as how open most of the landscape appears.

It might also have to do with where I was positioned.

The shadows create a pattern that helps get across the clouds’ size, as well as their shape. It also works well with the unshaded areas as there’s differentiation that helps to draw the eye across the valley, I think.

Some of the developed area can be seen, but it’s rather small in comparison to the vastness of the valley and what lies beyond.

Overall I think this photo is pretty calm and relaxed, though not without a slight undercurrent of foreboding due to the suggestion that perhaps there may be rain coming.

I can confirm, however, that it did not rain.

I hope you enjoy.
