Doing the thing where I sit here and think about things. I’m thinking about many things and once more I am thinking about customer service and how people treat customer service representatives.
Some customers this year have been good, whilst plenty have not been good. Such is the way of things. I imagine more have been good than not good, but sometimes it does not feel that way.
We’re into the holiday season during a time of increased stress for many due to the various pressures out there. It’s a tough time and certain things make it much tougher. It has been a long year and time seems to keep on extending well beyond any sort of reasonable amount. It keeps on extending and unfurling, and even though we are near the end of it, it just doesn’t seem like it will end and it probably won’t as dates signify a lot of things, but they certainly do not signify a great reset to a lot of issues out there. However, I digress.
Once more I am talking about this issue which will likely never end. Once more I am saying that it is better to not treat customer service representatives like crap. We are people too and all you’re doing by yelling and screaming at us about things that are not within our control is putting a lot of crap out there. You’re hurting people by refusing to treat them with respect. You’re giving them stuff that they may carry on with them. You’re kicking and screaming as you don’t understand that the world doesn’t revolve around you and your desire for instant convenience and you’re directing your shitty, fucked up tantrum at someone who will do what they can for you if you actually, you know, be respectful.
I really hate this time of year. It’s where the gloves really come off and people who are trying to do their job have to spend time trying not to freak out because some asshole decided it was a good idea to, instead of showing a bit of self-control, unleash on them because some order is going to be delayed because, guess what, delivery services are currently overwhelmed.
Yeah, there is a lot of stuff going on but that doesn’t change the fact that you should never take your shit out on someone who is trying to do help you out. If you’re shitty to customer service staff and good to the people around you, you’re still an asshole. Having a bad day? Come back and apologise. You should try to have the dignity and the respect to admit you behaved in a shitty way and potentially ruined someone else’s day because you can’t handle issues coming into your life.
I don’t give a shit as to how important you think you are and I don’t give a shit as to how frustrated you are. If you treat customer service staff poorly, then fuck your holiday season and fuck you.

Perhaps this is a little too much. Not sure. Got the point across at least, I think.
