猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者: A New World Awaits You

One listen and I sort of let my writing drag out a bit as I think I was trying to be “academic” or at least analytical with what I was saying. Do I think it represents the song well? Kind of. There probably is an argument for it being one of the more representative things I’ve written, but I don’t know.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者’s “A New World” is from Building a Better World. It’s the last song on the album and I think that what it closes off is something that’s quite narrative-driven. What that narrative is I’m not entirely sure, but I think that, at least on the surface it is quite obvious. In that way the below is probably less accurate than it could be, and maybe from digging further its accuracy wouldn’t change much. However, it’s a solid album, I think.

I hope you enjoy.

The rain falls and through it the sounds of vehicles drive along. Soon a rattle and synth join in and through them something open and welcoming arrives.

There is some sadness; some melancholy, but this is something to step into. This is something open and vast, and something yet to be experienced. The sounds draw in pulses and slight lingers, and they rise and fall, they fade as the sound of people begin to dominate. Here is something unfamiliar, and yet there is some familiarity here.

There is uncertainty, but there is a sudden draw to a sense of reality, as though what came before was all just a dream of sorts and there was no movement from here the whole time. But maybe this is new and unfamiliar, or at least it seems unfamiliar, but maybe it’s just another day. The new world was what came before and through it a life was lived, but here is a return to the mundane. The dream has needed and it is time to get back to routine.

The sound of people fades out, and there is no rain; there is silence, and the song ends.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者: 進化

One listen and another one that started off a bit of a struggle.
I realised that I was actively thinking too much about what I was writing and so I tried to move away from that, and I think it worked, but I wasn’t able to get away enough.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者’s “進化” is from Building a Better World.

I hope you enjoy.

A low hum goes high and remains low, and fades out and in, and something behind it slowly blooms in places. Rain falls like crackling and something lower slides in with a sense of gentle drama.

Various other sounds here and there in the background as a moment for thought coalesces on this gentle lapping. The lower sound disappears for a moment, then returns and it’s almost as though a dream held within the rain. It’s an idea of something in a moment where seemingly nothing matters outside of what is happening and slowly something is being lost in thought and a rising noise, like a muted static.

Eventually the sounds are lost to that static; they disappear and suddenly the background is obvious once more, and it could be the sound of people, and it keeps going until the song ends.

Sweating, Singing, Playing

I was hesitant to share this photo and I’m not sure why.
It’s probably one of the better photos I’ve taken in the last few months, and I think the colour balance on it is pretty good. However, hesitant for some reason.

I hope you enjoy

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者: Hiraeth V

One listen and this one was a bit of a struggle.
I was thinking too much about trying to write in a way that would draw something out of the sounds rather than just doing that and so I feel I didn’t cover the song well enough.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者’s “Hiraeth V” is from Building a Better World.

I hope you enjoy.

A drop spreads out in smooth ripples as a voice echoes and dissipates. A sense of beauty arises as a reflection of the ripples as they move out as one. Sound layering and rising from, slowly shifting, rising, falling… breathing, almost.

The rain falls and sounds settle, and something draws out that isn’t present in the sounds; a sense of the heavy as whispers of the melancholic. It’s not wrapping around everything, but it is there as the slow dance proceeds.

Sound holds and draws long, and there is a space, and perhaps too much, or not enough, or just the right amount, and everything looks for something not there. Everything is reaching out for something it cannot grab and touch. They are spatially detached from where they to be and they fill what they can, but the space retains an emptiness.

The sounds keep going; they remain gentle; they continue as smooth ripples, and they fade, leaving the rain alone as the song ends.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者: Building a Better World

One listen.

I didn’t want to go into this describing the song so much, which clearly is what I started doing. I was aware I was doing this and, even though I kind of switched away, I feel my being aware can be felt in the writing.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者’s “Building a Better World” is from Building a Better World.

I hope you enjoy.

Soft and silky sound wafts through the hiss of the rain, though maybe it no longer is rain but rather something else. The wafting sound rises, something comes from it and fades away and it seems to rise more, though it has found its moment to crest.

Voice echoes through and everything seems to be in a spot of rest, and the voice keeps on echoing, and something comes from the wafting sound once more. This is an odd space and it seems to reach for the natural, or at least yearn for the natural, though perhaps what it is looking for is greater, stronger structure and support, and maybe it looks to reach for an idea of the future in terms of the structurally metropolitan.

The voice has left and so drifting continues. Drifting continues in places where the sounds rest; they are comfortable and they congeal, but they are not looking to cross over into another space. They keep casting a dream and they remain as a base for something to emerge from.

A sound that seems like a voice comes forward and searches through the thickness, calling out here and there and looking in tones that could be mournful and could be joyous. It is something that could be crying, and it disappears just before voice returns, echoing into space as sounds pull away and the rain returns, and the song ends.

Far Lights on a Pole

These are the same lights as the ones seen in the photo I shared for last week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. I was thinking of sharing something else this week, but this fits much better.

When I took this photo I was stuffing about with zoom to try and create a sense of length. I think what I did instead was create a sense of smallness which is helped a fair bit by the space around the lights.

This is my submission into the two hundred-and-seventy-seventh Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. The theme for this one is “Empty Spaces“.

The host of the Lens-Artists challenges cycles weekly between the following people:

Week 1 – Tina

Week 2 – Patti

Week 3 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 4 – Amy

Week 5 – John Steiner

Week 6 – Sofia Alves

Week 7 – Anne Sandler

Week 8 – Donna

Week 9 – Guest host

This one is curated by Patti. Amy curates the next one and will be making use of the theme “Unique”.

I recommend participating in the challenges as they provide a fun way to interpret theme. If not participating, then at least you should still check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Cloud Lines and Layering

This may not be the best processing to show it, but I wanted to share this photo showing the clouds from the previous one I shared as that’s where the focus is for this one.

I hope you enjoy.

Arcus over Coogee

My partner and I were driving home when we saw these clouds. Outside of images I hadn’t seen this formation in a long time and so we drove toward Clovelly so I could take some photos. On the way there was a good vantage point so we stopped there first.

I like how absolutely massive the clouds look here. They feel like they’re going to engulf everything, and it’s wonderful.

I hope you enjoy.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者: 世界の果て

One listen.

Toward the end I loosened up a bit and started writing in a way that I feel is more stream-of-conscious. It feels liberating in a way. Not sure of how representative of the song what I wrote is, but I think it works.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者’s “世界の果て” is from Building a Better World.

I hope you enjoy.

Among the rain a long hum draws, as though perhaps heralding the dawn. It draws attention away from the background and soon it allows another layer. Something hints and then it’s almost as though it is turning on as more sound comes in.

Percussion plinks in a precise movement and all is okay in this expansive moment of the dramatic. It is not theatrical, but perhaps it speaks of an idea of theatre. The sounds move through a pattern of some sort of melancholy and stillness in the rain but it also clears the clouds. It is vaguely triumphant and a moment of realisation.

The sounds hold their place firm and inside a revealing of contrasts of imagery against the metropolitan and urbane against an ideal of looking beyond an ideal of the idyllic comes as a crystalline fog, and the courage to walk forward, or even just dream of something beyond the framing of a city life is there, and it loops around as the sounds draw heavy, and a little light flickers in the eyes, but it soon all disappears back into the rain, into the mundane as the song ends.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者: Lost Promises

One listen.

I started this this morning but had to stop, so I started again just now.
I think this could be better, but I do think that, overall the writing here is stronger than the previous ones. I had a general idea of “Lost Promises” before I started but not too full an idea and so I think that helped.

猫 シ Corp. & t e l e p a t h テレパシー能力者’s “Lost Promises” is from Building a Better World. When I heard the song a few weeks ago I decided to write about it so I queued it up. Not long after I thought it’d be good to write about the opening song. Then yesterday I decided to write about the second. I think I might cover the whole album in this manner.

I hope you enjoy.

The sound of rain creates a background from which a low sound emerges. The sound forms a rhythm, and from it percussive gentleness emerges. Soon rolling percussion comes forth, as does a slowly wafting synth.

Drama hangs heavy in the air, and soon from it something like a voice comes forward. It seems to call out and hum and drawl, and it seems calm and firm. It searches through everything and moves around it, and it becomes clear that that whilst this is dramatic, it is light and airy, and perhaps peaceful. Gentle.

The percussion pulls away and all else seems to hang in the air. It is still and the moment elongates, and the percussion returns. That voice moves above, moving high, calling out, and what is below remains gentle. It’s a calm moment, though perhaps also a sad one; perhaps one of dejection.

Soon everything sinks into the rain and the sound of crowds, and not long after the song ends.
