Five-Hundred Word Challenge 295: Writing Lecture Notes, then Something

We are still evolving.
Things are changing.

Things do not remain forever the same.

There are changes that occur, such as people being born without wisdom teeth.

These are things that I am hearing about right now.

there are consequences for evolution of life in the sea.

There are factors that they have to deal with.

Certain organisms may approach these issues differently to other issues.

Water is something that we don’t need to think about too much when we are doing marine science.

Well, maybe we do have to think about it a bit more than what is currently suggested, but right now it is something that we don’t have to think about too much.

However, water is still pretty important.

How does water differ from air?

Wait.

How does sea water differ from air?

Salt water is denser than air.

There are other things that I’m not going to try and list right now.

What colour is water?

Water is colourless.

Air is colourless.

In general, water is transparent. It is a really important property to keep in mind, as it may come up at a time when one does not think that they would need it, such as during an armed robbery or something.

Water dissolves stuff. Air blows.

Air does things that we need to keep in mind, such as stuff and other.

Sometimes air will not be air, in which case it is something else at that point.

It can be dense if it is highly compressed into something else, in which then it would no longer just be air, but something else that could resemble air, such as compressed air.

However, water is the universal solvent. This needs to be kept in mind as you might need to get yourself out of a room made of rock and only have a bottle of water. You could wait for help which would eventually come along, or you could use the water in your bottle of water to pour onto some of the rock and then wait for it to dissolve the rock, therefore letting you have a form of escape, but you’d also probably need a rope as you’d be suspended somewhere in the sky, floating in a prison of rock, as it were.

You’d also want to make sure that you have a really long rope as you’d want to be able to make your way to the ground as safely as possible.

Would it be possible?

It depends on how much rope you have.

If you have enough rope, then you’d make it the whole way down with complete safety.

If you didn’t have enough rope, then you’d probably have a small fall at the end.

Make sure to do a forward roll when you land so as to reduce the impact and transfer the force of your landing into the earth, therefore freeing yourself of any chance of injury.

Well, I guess I better get back to listening to this lecture now.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:59:03

Decent speed.
Perhaps a bit too silly.

Back to lecture.

Corner

Here’s a shot of a corner of a building, all the way to the top.

Well, all the way to as close to the top as I can see.

I like that the building looks like it is getting smaller.

I also like how its straightforward and simple looking design contrasts with the light clouds in the sky.

I hope you enjoy.

Faint Train Passing Bright Platform

I was going to have a bit more up today, but it’s late and I’m about to go to slep, so this will have to suffice.

This is a photo of Loftus Station taken shortly after the end 0fo the last bush walk I went on that took me through the Royal National Park.

I like this photo despite how much of the light of one of the platforms came through.

I think that I managed to capture of the motion of a train coming into platform well and I do like the last bits of twilight coming through faintly.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

The Wheel Turns in Space

Well, here’s another photo of the Ferris Wheel in Brisbane.

I’m not sure as to what I was I was aiming for.

I do like that it’s only part of the Ferris Wheel and yet you still get an idea of its size, as well as its structure.

I also like the amount of negative space in this photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 294: The Sounds of Trains Passing by

Where I am currently sitting I can hear the sound of what should be a train.

Perhaps it is the resonance of the sound of what should be a train.

I would say that I do not know, but considering that I’ve said that a number of times and this time I do know as to what is causing the sound, I will not say that I do not know for it would be a complete lie.

I do know that it is indeed the sound of a train. It does not quite sound like a train but it most definitely is a train.

It doesn’t quite sound like a train due to the amount of walls between the train tracks and I, but it still resembles the sound of a train passing.

It’s just really muted.

Actually, muted probably isn’t the correct word to use in this case. It would be more correct to say that it is somewhat muffled.

The sounds of trains passing by is quite familiar to this place, as this place is really close to the train station.

It takes about three minutes to walk to the train station from here.

There’s a lot of vantage points nearby to watch the trains pass by if that is what someone likes to do with their spare time.

There’s also the ability to sometimes feel the vibrations of the trains passing as they pass by this particular place.

Supposedly you get used to the sound of the trains passing by, but I’ve yet to find that to be the case, for most of the time I do notice their sound which seems to resemble a low, short drone, and I’ve been coming to this place since February.

Possibly March.

With that being said, I used to find it much more annoying and distracting to hear.
Now I consider it to be tolerable to some extent and far less distracting.

Sometimes I have to wonder if everyone who has lived here no longer notices the sound of the trains passing by.

Surely not everyone can tune it out as though it was nothing but an insignificant annoyance that is not worth the consideration that some would give it if they were unfamiliar with the frequency and loudness, for whilst it usually is quiet, sometimes the sounds of the trains passing by is much louder than usual.

I’m not sure as to why that is the case. It seems strange to me, but then again many things do, and yet not many things do for some reason.

Right now I cannot hear the sounds of the trains passing by, for there appears to be none at the station, either approaching or departing.

I am trying my best to listen out for their drone, but there is nothing out there for me to hear, other than various other sounds, such as smaller vehicles passing, doors opening and closing and perhaps the occasional conversation.

Well, part of a (probably) long conversation.

When I sat down to write I was hoping for something a bit more fantastic.

I like that this is fairly grounded, but I do think that I engaged in a little too much repetition.

Sunset Architecture

I was walking to Town Hall with one of my co-workers when I had the opportunity to take this photo.

I took it quickly and am pretty satisfied with the result.

I like the contrast between the silhouette and the colour produced due to where the sun is in the photo.

I also like the shape of the objects in the photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 293: Fingers are Flying

There are leaves that are drifting in the breeze, following the flow of air to some destination where they shall to have found on their own, for the breeze knows where to go and the leaves know to follow it as it travels.

It is the safest way for them to spread and the safest way for them to discover new lands that they had not seen before in their lives.

Of course leaves do not have eyes and do not experience the world… or do they?

There is a breeze outside that is lightly moving a branch outside the window near me. I can see it slightly moving, remaining attached and yet still being flexible.

Well, of course it is flexible. It is not the thickest of branches and the breeze is strong enough to make it bend slightly.

Well, even the thickest of branches could bend if there was a breeze strong enough to command it to bend to its blowing wind.

I don’t know what I’m writing right now.

I thought I was going to go on some sort of pseudo-poetic story and yet I have nothing right now.

All I know is that my fingers are flying as fast as they can, away from my hands and off into the distance.

I know that I need to chase them, yet there are words that need to be written and there is not enough time in he world to do both. I am sure that when they are done with their wild, grand adventure around the office, they will return and firmly reattach themselves to my hands, for there is no escape at the moment unless someone leaves a door open, in which they may just be able to get downstairs and then outside and fly through the streets, exploring every nook and cranny that they can get themselves upon, generally having a fun time whilst I sit here and try to keep on typing out whatever it is that I am trying to type out, struggling away because it would be harder to type without my fingers, for the keys on this keyboard would not be big enough for me to type out the words that I am trying to type unless I typed really slowly.

Well, slower than I currently am typing. I certainly would be far more inhibited than I am right now.

I would very much prefer that my fingers did not fly off and go somewhere, for that would not only make typing hard, but also everything else than I do with my time that involves the use of fingers, such as picking up a bottle, and tapping my fingers on the table in some sort of rhythmic pattern that I would like to believe that only I can discern, but of course not because it would be audible enough for everyone around me to hear.

Well, they can have a journey but they do need to make sure that they return.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:53:53

Well… something.

This certainly is wordy.

Another Blue Moutnains Landscape

It’s the same tree as this one!

Rolling landscape sits just beyond the tree, meeting a sky at the clouds as the horizon sits ever-so-close, yet far from our reach.

Green upon green stretches out beneath the vantage point, revealing vast stretches of nature.

There may be a transmission tower, but even so nature dominates in this area.

Views like this fill me with a sense of wonder and amazement.

It’s lucky that we still get stretches of nature, mostly not destroyed by our hands.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 292: Dialogue

Where is the hat?

It’s somewhere running around on your face, toward some sort of destination on the top of your head.

No it’s not. Stop talking shit.

It is, I swear!

Look, it’s not. I know you know where it is. Where did you put my hat?

I don’t know. You were the last person to have it.

And you were the last person to take it. I saw you take it. Where did you put it.

Are you sure that you saw me take your hat? You were pretty wasted.

I’m pretty sure. At least, I think I’m pretty sure. Look, don’t make me doubt my faculties. Fess up.

Alright, alright. It’s in your room. It’s been sitting in your room all weekend.

Where in my room?

Have you looked on your drawers?

…I may have.

You haven’t. Perhaps you should check there instead of having a go at me for taking it. You could have lost it easily, being as stupid as you were last night.

I wouldn’t have lost it. It would have been fine.

No it wouldn’t have. You were running about, somehow not spraying vomit all over everyone whilst a strong wind was blowing. You ran down a steep hill and almost fell really hard. You would have lost your precious hat had I not taken it.

It would have been fine.

Yeah, yeah. Well, why don’t you go get it now then and put it back on where you think it belongs?

Well, I know where it s now so I don’t have to go and find it. I can go and put it back on whenever I like.

So you only had to put it back on when you didn’t know where it was?

No. What? That doesn’t make sense. Why would I need to wear a hat if I didn’t know where it was located?

Fair point.

Thought so.

Well, now that you know where it is, what are you going to do?

I think I’ll mediate on my life and the decisions that I’ve made that have lead me to this point in time. I think that I’ll look upon the stars and ask them as to why it is that I exist as I am, merely a man and little more. Once they have not answered me, I think that I’ll look to the trees in the west and prepare myself for some sort of lengthy journey that will reveal perhaps a little bit more about myself. That’s what I think I’ll do.

Yeah, so what are you really going to do?

Does it really matter right now?

Well, I guess not?

Well, we could go watch something. We could watch Razorback.

Razorback?

Razorback.

…What’s it about?

It’s about a wild pig in The Outback.

Well, it sounds like an interesting film.

Yeah, so let’s go veg out and watch it then.

Is there anything else to do right now? Couldn’t we just go grab food instead?

Not really.

I started off just writing and it gradually became closer to stuff we may say.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 291: Something that Became Something Else

Right now I am sitting here trying to work out what it is that I will end up writing today.

I thought that I’d try and write a story, but I’ve not thread to go on this current afternoon.

I think that perhaps I’m a little too relaxed in this given moment, because not only do I want to write a story, but I also want to rant a fair bit as it’s been a little over an hour since I last went on a tangent and it feels a bit odd to not be going on about something that is not that important to go on about at all.

However, I feel somewhat relaxed, perhaps a little too relaxed, a little content and am sitting in a way that makes me feel relaxed for some reason.

Maybe I need to write a little more about the banality of life today, for I am sitting in the same space as I was when I last wrote about the banality of life.

Well, at least I think that I am sitting in the same space.

Perhaps I am not as the spaced has moved on to somewhere else and merely all that I think is that I am sitting in the same space due to it being some sort of perfect replication of where I have previously been.

Perhaps the space never existed and all I am doing is dreaming up its existence.

there are so many questions to ask, and yet there is never enough time to answer them all.

If there was, then it would be fair to say that I have a lot of time to spare, for in order to answer all of the questions I would need to have all of the answers and the only way to have all of the answers is to have more than enough time to be able to know all that there is to know that would allow me to answer all of the questions, assume that there would no longer be any new questions.

But then if there were no new questions, there would probably be no more growth of our knowledge, for questions must be asked in order for us to be able to learn more.

Well, not always. Of course people being people means that we learn from a myriad of ways, but questions are very important. I don’t think that anyone can deny this.

If it weren’t for questions, we would have certain things, such as an object and another object. We may be short on the amount of objects that we have.

That would be a most tragic tragedy indeed, if there ever was one.

It would be so tragic that tragedy would have to reinvent itself as something entirely different, therefore creating a situation where there would be some sort of change.

Well, I think I’m done with prattling on at the moment, so I shall leave you with the closing of this sentence.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:56:14

I started this two times before this came out.

I think that I need to let whatever was trying to get out get out.
