Le Parkour

This week is my fourth week of parkour.
I’ve had four body conditioning sessions, two harbour runs and two training sessions with Drew and Justo.

I’m picking up the techniques quickly but still having trouble pulling them off properly. Part of the learning curve; one that doesn’t seem too steep, thankfully.

I do worry that I’m going to burn out doing it, but I keep pushing. I know I’ll get past that feeling eventually.

Drew and Justo are a massive help. They’re keeping me focused and making it more enjoyable than it should be (although the others I’m doing everything with are pretty awesome as well). I already consider them good friends. They’re amazing people and I feel very comfortable and relaxed around them.

Soon I’ll be incorporating what I’m learning into my travel to work, uni and home. I see opportunities to use what I’m learning but I’m not confident enough to yet.

I think I may have said this before, but what I really like about parkour is how it uses the body and the environment, as well as it’s nature as a non-competitive activity. I’m probably wrong here, but I think it is quite graceful, fluid and natural. It suits me fine.

Right now it’s hard for me. My body is coping but I want to be able to do more now. I keep injuring my left ankle but I keep pushing on. It’s getting easier though. I feel better and a little more dedicated to achieving my goals after each session. I also feel a bit stronger and agile, so I know my body is adapting. Just have to keep getting past the walls that rise and refuse to let myself give up. Eventually I will be good at this.

About Stupidity Hole

I'm some guy that does stuff. Hoping to one day fill the internet with enough insane ramblings to impress a cannibal rat ship. I do more than I probably should. I have a page called MS Paint Masterpieces that you may be interested in checking out. I also co-run Culture Eater, an online zine for covering the arts among other things. We're on Patreon!
