I do not like the suburb I live in.
I never have.
I think it’s far too compressed.
I also think that it is far more expensive than what it should be.
The subrub feels like it’s a very cold and uncaring place where people are more worried about cred than they are about others.
I moved to where I am for two reasons. The first being that my ex wanted to be closer to her family.
The second being that it meant I could live next door to Ewe.Beyond that, I could do without the suburb easily. It sucks.
The parks are nice though.
The problem here is that I wrote the suburb off well before I gave it a chance.
I’ve never really checked out many of the stores and markets that it has. It’s safe to say that I’ve never really explored it propely at any stage, usually only being on the main street to get through the suburb as quickly as possible.
So how do I change this?
By checking the place out properly.
From what I’ve learned, my suburb does have a strong sense of community that has survived through it’s gradual gentrification (something that has had an odd effect here). There are many different things to check out through the area that I would actually be interested in, so I might as well start giving it a go.
This might not seem like a big thing but it was a major point of contention between myself and a few others simply because I made a decision about a place and refused to challenge it.
Usually when I would bring it up, I would crap on about how great other places were instead of being considerate because the best thing to do when you have no good reason to dislike where you live is to dig your heels in and ignore all reasoning.
Makes for fun times.
I guess the advice here is to not judge something before you have a chance to experience it properly.
