Another Long Exposure of Circular Quay

This was the first photo I took when I was considering what I was going to try and capture for the most recent Monochrome Madness.

Obviously it ended up not being used, but I was still happy with the result, so here you go.

Whenever I mention why I like my photos, I usually end up feeling like an asshole regardless of how justified I may be in saying whatever I end up saying as I feel that, whilst there is usually some things that are defined in photography and other forms in art, a lot of the time personal interpretation is pretty important and stupidly I feel concerned about taking some of that away from others.

With that being said, I really like how the lighting came through in this photo. There are some overly bright lights, but otherwise the majority of them are providing enough illumination to give a good idea of how everything appears without being so bright that there’s an over-saturation of light.

I also like that most of the visible clouds sit above the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

I’m not too sure what the mood of this photo is, but I do like how it feels, despite it being the city.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

I don’t think your formulating what you like about your photos is taking away the possibility for the viewer’s personal interpretation. For me, it’s the almost the opposite: I feel that putting words on what one likes about any piece of art is not as easy as it seems, so that reading your thoughts about your photos is helpful to develop one’s own way to look at images.
