I think that I wanted to capture the sense of space around the bridge rather than the bridge itself.
I think that the sky helps to give a sense of minimalism to the scene.
It also helps to enhance the contrast between the land and the ocean.
To me, the photo feels more focused on atmosphere than it does detail.

Going for the negative space and atmosphere works for me! It’s pretty there. Are your summers foggier than winters? Ours are here, and from what I hear your climate just about mirrors ours so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it were.

Hard to say.
Depends on area and climate.
Some parts of Sydney see more fog than others, but it’s not a common occurrence in a number of places.
