The bridge to Bare Island as seen from Bare Island.
I think this shot gives a bit of an idea of the bridge’s length (it’s not too long), but if I had taken this shot from a few more metres away and angled it a bit differently, then the bridge’s length would likely have been more apparent. I think.
I feel as though the contrast between the lighter and darker areas might be a bit too strong. It might be due to the amount of sky. Not sure. That said, I do like the amount of space afforded by the sky as it kind of makes this scene feel as though it exists in its own pocket in space.
This is also my submission into the eighty-sixth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
The theme for this one is “Change Your Perspective“.
The expected shot of a bridge over water is from directly under one side of the bridge and across to the other. I’m fairly certain I’ve shared shots of that here.
This is kind of different, though it’s still probably an expected form of shooting a bridge, now that I think about it.
The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:
Week 1 – Patti
Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya
Week 3 – Amy
Week 4 – Tina
This one is hosted by Patti. The next will be guest hosted by Miriam Hurdle of The Showers of Blessings.
I recommend giving the challenges a go and seeing how you interpret each theme. I also recommend checking out what other people are doing to meet the challenges.
I hope you enjoy.

I agree SH, this shot gives a different perspective of a bridge versus what’s typical. Nicely done.

Nice perspective of the bridge, SH. Though it rather feels like it is falling into the river.

If I remember correctly the bridge is slightly curved.
And that be not a river, but the ocean.

Good one. The bridge leads my eyes from left down to right, to center-right of the photo.

And onto the mainland.

I like your change in perspective, SH. It gives us a very different view of the bridge and a different impression. I think Ann Christine makes a good point–about the bridge seeming less stable. Maybe it’s the downward curve from one side to another?

The bridge is definitely stable (as far as I’m aware). I’m pretty sure it’s just a curve in its design.

It’s a different perspective to look at the bridge from under, SH. I think the angle makes it look like it’s falling. Great perspective!
