Jaunty sounds carry the shoes to wherever they go.
Worn out, but steady and still going they were indeed the shoes of one who has walked more than they have not walked on any given day, depending on how you measure time against time, of course. However, that is a digression that I don’t feel like exploring right now, so instead we’re going to get back to the shoes.
So these shoes that apparently get carried along by jaunty sound (even though that was a poor attempt at creating some sort of fancy, whimsical literary device) have been places. They’ve seen things. They move along faithfully and well within a dedicated manner.
Sometimes they know not where they are to go, but sometimes they do. There is a bit of excitement in the unknowing, as well as apprehension; it all depends on the day and how they feel about doing the thing that they are going to inevitably do, which is walk to some place from another place.
All that walking is not always walking, but sometimes running instead. Occasionally there also is the act of jogging, which is neither walking nor running and instead an attempt to find a happy medium but truly a state of indecision, much to the consternation and suffering of all shoes around the place, unless they are shoes designed for jogging over running or walking, in which case, they are prepared to face unwarranted criticism. However, the shoes designed for jogging know that they’re helping with some sort of purpose that provides some sort of benefit, so they don’t care about what they have to face, or something. Perhaps sometimes they do as it’s not always easy to shrug off disparagement, but often they don’t.
Anyway, these shoes are quite experienced. They are old, but they are holding together quite well. They’ve served as footwear admirably and continue to do so. Sometimes they go up and sometimes they go down. sometimes they get to rest. Sometimes they become airborne, only to find themselves no longer airborne a few seconds later. They know what a surface is meant to feel like and they know how they are meant to react to the concept of impact created from motion from the expending of energy in order to manipulate limbs to create the moving forward in the direction of forward, though sometimes backward and to the side, depending on what is required at any given situation.
There are times when there is no motion whatsoever for a day, or a period of days. In these instances it is usually due to the shoes not being required for some particular reason. Perhaps it comes down to a preference for whatever situation brings up the desire of preference. It could be a number of reasons. It is here where the rest comes forward the most. Rest is fine; it serves the shoes well as they get to breathe a bit before they once more become wielded and commence travelling.

This one… I like it as a form of writing exercise, but I feel it’s a little too patchy and unfocused.
Written at home.
