Five-Hundred Word Challenge 923: A Drive

It is time to be tired, but it still is time to do other things and so I do not get to rest as of yet.

I look at the burn on my fingers and then think about the driving I did today.

So there was a set of ruins that I wanted to check out. I’ve wanted to check them out for a while now but not had the time, nor the people to come with me. However, today was that day and so we set out early.

We saw some stuff, had breakfast, talked, took photos, and drove.

There was lots of driving, though probably not that much ground to cover. However, it was a lot for me, but it’s all building up to something as they say, and they do indeed say that. However, they don’t always say that and that’s a bit of a digression at the moment. Need to focus on this and get this little bit of life out of the way so that I can then move onto other things.

So anyway, there was driving. There was driving beyond The Blue Mountains, but not too beyond. It was all within reasonable distance… I hope.

Anyway, there was driving and we saw some stuff and we kept on driving and eventually we got to where it was that I wanted to go. It was the destination of which I had desired to reach and of course I head reached it.

It was closed for renovations and apparently requires advance booking.

By that point I think we’d driven for three hours. Not continuously, but long enough to demand that we get out of the car and stretch and rest a little, which very much was needed.

The only option at that point was to head back on home, but not without a few more stops along the way. Those too were worth it to some extent, but the last one most of all.

It was a lot of driving and certainly something that I’d be willing to do once more. Maybe not right now as right now it is time for me to relax and be tired and all of that other stuff. However, perhaps in the future when I am less tired as it ended up totaling twelve hours of being out. I was hoping for between eight and ten. Admittedly twelve is not that much, but it was enough for me to feel tired right now, but such is the way of things and I will survive and all of that.

I thought that this would be a bit of a longer story, but it wasn’t, so… yeah. Such is the way of things I guess.

Ultimately nothing major happened. I drove for a while to a place only to have to turn back around due to it being closed. These things happen and it could have been much, much worse.

Well, there is always next time; hopefully with a bit more preparation.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:27:30

There are quite a few ways in which I could have written this that would’ve made it seem a lot less like a brief summary.

Written at home.
