Five-Hundred Word Challenge 421: Sweet, Soothing Tunes of Midnight Oil

Where’s my face?!

Oh. It’s on my face.

Well, that comes as no surprise.

This morning is presented and therefore at the same time brought to you by the sweet, soothing tunes of Midnight Oil as they reach for my ears and drag them into a world of imagination and fantasy that allows me to escape this wretched existence that is full of little else other than pain and misery.

Oh, Midnight Oil, how you carry me away onto better times in dire consequences of need upon your magical sliding cloud that roams the land in search of the real thing that needs to be found in order to avoid the cemetery in all of our minds, hopefully leading to some sort of land where we can escape the dreamworld and enter the golden age that surely awaits us beyond the shipyards of New Zealand.

Instead of telling us that we shall not be released as we are all imprisoned in an arctic land, where nothing grows aside from the enmity within the Australian spirit that does not run an ultra-marathon in boots and slowly, yet surely, this is indeed an action that will most likely not see ourselves being crowned king of the mountain, but fighting with some sort of power and passion in our hearts in order to reach something that allows us to go beyond screaming in blue and all the way down the Gunbarrel Highway, hopefully toward somewhere off in the far distance that may be considered at the very least the best of both worlds.

Still, with all of that being said, I’m sure that Midnight Oil have other things to do, such as getting back to Kosciusko, or at least to Harrisburg. There will certainly be times when they must abate from my sensory receptors and instead go and find out where the U.S. forces are so that their nod-providing can be prevented. Perhaps they will take many along with them, for there is much doubt and unfortunately we still live in a world where seeing is very much believing, rather than having belief built around collected evidence and research.

With all of that being said, who can stand in the way of the poets & slaves when they’ve been away too long?

It’s not as though they’ve been living underwater and gained the gravel-rash of the barest degree due to having too many sins of omission after founding a common ground with many of their ilk.

Midnight Oil certainly are carrying me along a journey of many ideas and adventures and these are the things that will hopefully help us remember the forgotten years, for too often too many people are willing to have a short memory about what has happened and instead would rather waste away in paradise, which is a real shame as it doesn’t take too much to stand up and work toward preventing rivers running red, but then again, it’s possible that sometimes people would rather never read about it

Well… uh… yes.
I think I need to eat.

Rubble

I saw this a couple of weekends ago. It makes me wonder if this spot is going to see apartments built upon it, as that seems to be what is currently in vogue.

This almost looks like it would belong among rolling hills.

I like that there seems to have been an attempt to make the area appear a bit more plant-friendly in order to add aesthetic value but all that is seems to do is enhance the sterile, superficial feel of the area.

I also like that there’s a few different shapes and textures in this photo.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 420: Circumstances Dictate

My back is sore, I am sitting here and there are no items of food on my desk, unless yo-u count the almighty TEA that is sitting here doing its thing, which is to sit here until I pick it up, raise it to my opening mouth and pour some of the liquid contents into the awaiting cavern in order to be tasted and eventually swallowed, warming the insides that happen to be contained with my very being and eventually pass through to somewhere else, either to be used as some sort of fuel or to be disposed of as waste.

Well, some of it would be disposed of as waste. Maybe all of it, depending on the circumstances.

The circumstances dictate that I am rambling on and probably have no idea as to what I’m talking about right now, but that’s okay as I do a lot of that anyway and so goes the ways of things when I am sitting at a desk and have little to go on other than my nose and wherever my nose may lead me.

This is, of course speaking in a metaphorical sense rather than a literal sense. Possibly. It is hard to tell, although it is not hard to tell.

There is a lot of space and I’m trying to fill it up with text, dammit! This is something that should be well understood.

It doesn’t matter if the flow or cadence doesn’t collaborate in a harmonious fashion. If it’s disharmonious, that is okay unless that is not what the aim or the intent is, when it would not be okay, in which case it is better if I just go back to drinking my TEA and avoid any sources of VIOLENCE that are out there, waiting for my eyes to feast upon as they widen and gyres sprout forth from my mind and into the world, surrounding all that is and is not and reach out as I look toward the walls and windows and look upon with great indifference, as there is no form of colour out there except what what is and isn’t perceived and the walls that are separating us all need to be torn down if we are all to get along and move forward, for there is too much unnecessary hate out there and not enough love.

With that being said, I imagine that if the ocean would be a little upset if it had more gyres floating about out there, rather than the current amount that reside about out there at the moment.

Perhaps this is something that needs to be tested. However, there are more important results that must be pursued, such as the peeling of an orange in order to discern the taste of what is contained within, and the sources of all that provides the apples with their delicious tax accounting on a breeze carried only by the echoes of the crying night when hunting for sinuous, solipsistic, superbly spawning salmon.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:12:12

Indeed.

This, something. Perhaps i was going more for phrasing and sound and rhythm rather than meaning or intent. Maybe.

I think that it became less bizarre the further it continued.

Older and Newer

So in this photo we have part of ANZAC Bridge and part of Glebe Island Bridge.

Glebe Island Bridge has not been in use for a long time as it was superseded by ANZAC Bridge.

Sadly Glebe Island Bridge, or the area to its western side are not open to the public.

It would make for a great crossing for pedestrian traffic despite that being an option on ANZAC Bridge.

I think that there’s an interesting contrast between the dry vegetation and the structure of ANZAC Bridge in this photo.

One has been around for longer and sees vegetation taking hold.
The other is newer and sees pollution marks taking hold.

There’s also an interesting contrast in size differences, and I like how they almost seem to be going in the same direction as exact as each other.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Platalea regia

Seeing a royal spoonbill, or any spoonbill in an urban environment is quite “Unlikely“.

Whilst there are some that live in the Centennial Parklands, they’re still an uncommon sight.

Spoonbills feed by having their beak open and moving it from side to side in water. As soon as something is within their open beak, they quickly close it, capturing the prey.

I think that spoonbills are interesting birds. There’s something about them that I can’t put my finger on, but it’s something that makes them appealing and somewhat-fascinating.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Darling Harbour, Mid-morning

And here we are with a photo of Darling Harbour!

HOW WONDERFUL!

I was walking to the shops from the city when this was taken.

It’s a photo of Darling Harbour. There’s only so many times you can say that Darling Harbour is interesting, or beautiful, or whatever until you get to a point where the novelty wears off as there’s plenty of better places to visit, such as anywhere that’s not a city, but I digress.

To me, this is one of the few times that Darling Harbour appears to be a relaxing place to be as it was fairly relaxing there at the time. There wasn’t much foot traffic and there wasn’t much noise.

I think that the light tone and details help enforce this as they are strong enough to show the scene well, but not so strong that they become intense.

I also think that the differing types of clouds further help to soften the image.

This is my entry into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.
As the first M.M. of each month is themed, this one had the theme of “Relaxation”.

I recommend checking out Monochrome Madness, as well as Leanne Cole’s work.
I also recommend that you consider participating. It’s been going for a few years and it’s a good way to be involved with a small, fun community.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Reaches Over the Bay

Another photo of ANZAC Bridge.

This time from a different angle than from where I’ve usually taken photos of the bridge.

I like that the perspective slightly affects how ANZAC Bridge appears and I like how the clouds almost seem to be stymied from passing between the arches.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Millennium Falcon is Lego Dream

I had this small version of the Millennium Falcon that was made out of Lego, but it didn’t look like it was made of Lego. You got into the cockpit by opening the windows which were on a hinge (it may have actually been the front of the Millennium Falcon and not the cockpit, but the dream was pretty vague about this part). The cockpit opened upward.

It didn’t seem to have much space but somehow I was able to sit in it without having to deal with discomfort.

So I was going to fly it around when someone came out from somewhere and said something which then lead to them getting into the cockpit with me.

So they got into the second seat in the cockpit and then I got in and then we flew around really slowly around the area for a bit before we had to land.

The person got out and then went somewhere and I think I was going to go, but I had to wait for them so I waited. The person came back and I told them to be careful getting in as the Millennium Falcon was made of Lego (I think). They got in and the bottom snapped and had a crack in it and I think the ceiling of the cockpit also cracked.

I expressed annoyance as this meant that I now had to go buy another Lego kit in order to build a new one but I couldn’t as it was in another galaxy. I considered using gaffer tape on the crack in the floor but was worried that it would come off in space and then I would have littered in space. I also wondered as to why nothing broke the first time.

So I went to the galaxy I had to go to in order to get a new Lego kit. Hyperspace meant that it took approximately thirteen minutes, but I suspect that it was actually less.

I got to where I was and perused some aisles but I couldn’t see the kit, so I headed back home.

When I got back a few of my friends were watching someone I used to know do this really bad slow dance. They saw me and once their thing was over they came up to me, hugged me and we had a quick chat. This was during the day and just out somewhere in the open. I think it was a field but it wasn’t far from an urban area. It was probably a park.

Anyway, they went off and one of my friends who was watching had to collect tokens off of a roof of a kiosk as they needed to appease the Italian Mafia as they did something naughty, so I helped out.

Once this was done I went back to the galaxy that I went to previously in order to see if they had the Lego kit in stock and when I got there I saw some people I knew.

Then I woke up.

Underside

I’ve been wanting to get a decent shot of the underside of ANZAC Bridge for a while but haven’t gotten around to attempting the photo.

I did it a while ago but it wasn’t a good photo and until last week, that was my only attempt.

This probably could have better light balance.

Otherwise, I like the way the bridge stretches out and still appears to be massive.
I also like how there’s a strong sense of depth in the photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 419: Cold Morning Beckons

A cold morning beckons the thawing and the gnashing of the old hands which are moving as quickly as they can, making busy work of their surroundings as well as possible whilst also feeling the encroaching chill reach out and do its best to slow the hands down.

However, despite whatever it does, the hands keep on working tirelessly in order to reach a state where the cold is transformed into an embracing warm that does little more than allow the hands to reach some sort of “graceful” flow over that which they are working in order to see something of worth produced by the end of the session.

The clay is molded into something entirely new as the walls are torn down and reshaped into something old.

There is a way of direction that allows the hands to work as they do and they work in a loud silence that lacks hat it needs to lack in order to get the idea across that work is going forward into something else.

Of course the cold keeps on grabbing on, for it does not want the warm to get hold. It wants the hands to slow and lumber their way across their craft. However, the hands work in defiance and refuse to allow the cold to completely take hold, closing the door on its attempts whilst opening another in order to let the warm come in and try to find some sort of unison that will allow for a mutually beneficial relationship.

There is some sort of dance between all three of these elements that does not seem to be visible at first glance. However, it is there and it is one that has been going on for far longer than the hands, the cold and the warm seem to want to let on.

There is a push and pull that keeps on going, but soon it will be time for the cold to make way. There is crafting that needs to occur and the cold must let it happen, for this is a time when it has little say in the matter.

The day will be given to the hands and the warm as they work diligently toward a goal that will no doubt provide some sort of visible display by the time the work is complete. The day will be theirs and they will be able to embrace whatever it is that leads them down a path toward whatever it is that they create.

However, just as much as it is futile for the cold to try and hold on in the morning, no doubt the warm will have to leave and allow the cold its time with the hands and pull on them in order to slow down their attempts at creating something, for the cold too must, in this instance, be allowed to make its attempts to obtain whatever it is that it wants, regardless of how futile those attempts may be.

It’s a long dance.

I think that this started well but lost a lot of steam pretty quickly.

I guess it works kind of okay as a narrative.
