A Fish Market Wharf

This photo was taken shortly before this one.

I’d been holding off from uploading it as I wanted to get a comparison shot as a long exposure, or at least using my tripod (this was taken with the camera balanced on a railing), but as it seems that I haven’t gotten around to doing so, here’s the photo.

I like the light and colour balance on this one, not being too vibrant.

The way the clouds are drifting adds a little bit more depth to the photo, I think.

I like that they’re not perfectly reflected.

I also like that the reflections of the lights become long trails.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 341: A Fun Time

I’ve had a fun two days, as it currently stands.

Actually, I should rephrase as it has not yet been two days.

Since the early hours of the morning yesterday, I’ve had a fun time.

On Monday night I had dinner, went to sleep a few hours after. Usual process for me.

I woke up at some hour in the middle of the night and had to go to the toilet, which I did, which, when I was done, was very quickly followed by throwing up into the bathroom sink instead of the toilet as I’m very smart.

Cleaning up was not fun.

Eventually I was able to get back to sleep, but woke up a few hours later when daylight was beginning to filter into my bedroom.

I felt dizzy and dehydrated, which a berocca helped alleviate.

I headed to university as I was meeting up with a couple of people to study for the exam that I was meant to sit today.
When I got there I said “hi” to the one person who was there and then went to the bathroom to throw up a little more.

Fun times, let me assure you.

I then spent a fair bit of the time that I was there studying trying to type and going to sleep. I left after a few hours as I was getting little done, was working very slowly and felt rather weak.

I got home and slept a little more, which did help a little. I also went to sleep at night a fair bit earlier than I normally would as I felt exhausted.

It was a pretty good sleep, to be honest.

When I woke up this morning I felt somewhat-okay, but of course my body as not done with getting whatever it is in my system out and decided that it would be a good idea to make sure that I had the runs.

Even more fun times.

So I missed my exam that was today and am at home, resting.
I’ve been to see a doctor and was told to keep my fluids up which is something that comes as no surprise.

I do know that I have to keep resting, but the one thing that I absolutely cannot miss right now is work due to the need of the almighty dollar in order to make sure that I can do the things that allow me to do the things and then some.

What I have may be food poisoning. It may be viral. I have a feeling that it is food poisoning more than it is a virus of some sort.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter as to what is the cause of my being ill. What matters at the moment is my recovery so I can get better and get back to doing the things that involve study and exams.

It sucks, but it is what it is.
I’m having a bit of a sook, but soon I will be fine.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 08:35:41

If I had written yesterday, this would have been much slower.
I still feel that it is not fast enough, however.

Written at home.

Statis III

Another sculpture from “Sculpture by the Sea”. This one is from Aliesha Mafrici.

I thought these looked like large staple stacks.

I like the way they reflect light and cast their shadows.

I also like how at odds the geometry of this sculpture is with everything else.

It appears to stand tall and rigid, strong and mysterious.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 340: Two More Exams

Exam one down and two more to go.

Here I am. I am sitting down and not studying. I am wasting the time of people in order to get my typing done in order to get something of some decency written down, but we all know that that is not going to happen today, for there is construction, birds, animals, people, computers, socks, cars, trucks, dragons, and many other multitudes and platitudes that must be explored in order for me to keep on going and get stuff done and complete the things to be the best that I ever could be, and them some.

I feel like having some food right now, but I have already consumed my weight in something, assuming my weight was less than I weigh right now, for I have only had some small meals and a bit of juice today.

Oh well. them’s the breaks, as they say.

I could scratch my head and  look for something else in there that may help out a lkot more than just sitting here banging away at the keyboard, but I do not feel like doing so as I’d rather see if I can get this done as quickly as possible.

Of course, I am sacrificing the qaultity of the writing in order to try and create something really fast and it probably will not be worth reading, but then again not much is that I share.

I do know that if I ride a horse off through the university grounds then I will end up attracting a lot of attention and probably not the kind that I would be seeking.

I also have to admit that doing that would be a very bad idea. I need to remember to keep my hat on at all times, or else there will be consequences.

Perhaps I can go all the way home and then trade the horse for a supersonic jet plane that will take me somewhere far away, as I glide through the sky on the channels of air that flow around the plane and its glorious body, shooting through the sky faster than any diamond ever could unless the diamond was thrown with a lot of force, but that would take a lot of force. Perhaps even more force than just a regular throwing of a diamond.

There must be a way to calculate this. However I am too busy thinking of ways that eating a banana may be applied to thew structural integrity of the new buildings that are being built and UNSW. I must think of this really hard for I am wanting the vitamin known as ego and its potential growth that it allows all of us to have so long as we know what we are doing on a time scale that we do not understand.

Perhaps I should take the hat off, but know one knows what would happen and it could be very disastrous for all.

Or, perhaps it won’t be.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:12:93

Fast.

Whilst this is pretty bad, I think that it shows that I am better at making it up as I go when I go much faster.

Written at UNSW.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 339: Finding a new way

Rails upon rails and my mind is reaching for something knew. Something unknown that is beyond the known and the boundaries of knowledge, yet there is something in the way. Something that I am not meant to know.

I am expanding and convulsing in ways that alienate myself from my own being and yet I am merely a person encapsulated in a body.

There is a vast expanse of mountains and valleys that stretch out that are collapsing into themselves and beyond is a sea of water and salt that are mixed in some manner.

The ocean is filled with organisms. There are more organisms than there are versions of me and all I? can do is find myself amazed at the scenario that I envision.

Clouds are as strong as the sky is striking and there are ways around the loop to which I can experience but never explore.

I am twisting and turning and finding a new way to not be whilst still remaining in a form of existence that remains totally and utterly myself.

The hills raise and fall as the gulls beneath rise to the skies above and take their place as one of the many masters of the the air.

All that which has an end begins to shift and loop around upon itself in order to allow a continuous stretch exist that changes the very fabric of its purpose, yet still remaining as distinct and recognisable as it always had and always will be.,

The loops cannot be left. They can be traversed, but until they disconnect all that is on them will forever be stuck on a loop.

The sun heaves and pulses to the time of the wind, almost in a rhythm that feels as unnatural as it does unfamiliar.

The colours dart and spread across the sky, engulfing the blue with reds and oranges with flecks of yellow.

The wind is whispering into the night that comes soon after, changing the mood of the land and the stars shine above, looking down from upon their lofty thrones unto a world for they wish they could reach and hold, yet never will be able to for the world will simply cease to exist before their opportunity to take it will ever arise.

There are two scenarios that split into multiple sections, interweaving and separating from each other, creating patterns  and interlocking segments that cannot  be preened from each other.

I sit here, watching my view, unable to touch or even reach out, yet still  be as part of it as I am separated.

I am expanding and convulsing. I am looking for something else to see, I am looking for something that will reach out beyond my own perception.

The mountains are vast and many and cap the land with edges and beauty.

The land is at peace as the sun rises to and casts its light unto the shadows, bringing the morning rise to all that rise to its grand beauty.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:16:07

I felt the need to write something that was really “wordy” in a sense.
I think I was once again aiming for imagery.

Written at work.

St Martin de Porres

A photo of a boat at Longnose Point that was taken from a Boat on the water.

From what I’ve read, the boat was washed up onto the rocks from a storm back in the nineties.

I think that, whilst it stands out a little, it also seems to blend nicely with the rocks.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Clouds of the Bondi Sunrise

First swim at the beach for the warm seasons.

A quiet, fairly calm photo showing the land still in the dark as the sky begins to brighten up.

I do like how the clouds stretch across the sky and capture colour in this photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Drivers, get off your Phone

So I watched a little bit of a documentary regarding people using their phone whilst driving.

Well, I watched part of it. I found myself getting really angry about the general hubris and lack of giving any sort of shit about others from the people being interviewed. I’m sure that it lead to these intelligent people reaching some sort of eye-opening revelation.

I don’t understand the attitude that people hold that make them think that it is okay to pay more attention to what is on their phone than their immediate surroundings.

Okay, I get it, all these people need to stay on top of their social life. After all, there are more important things than the heavy chunk of material that you’re driving around and making sure that you don’t cause an accident.

There are priorities and quite clearly the fact that you are in something that you have to go through testing and provisional periods to be able to use meaning you need to pay attention to what you’re doing is not high on the priority list.

I don’t understand this attitude.

Why can’t people get off their fucking phones?

It’s like if you tell someone that they should stop speeding because, despite their not having an accident yet, that does not mean that they won’t, they tell you that you’re not really in a position to talk because you don’t drive and haven’t been driving for close to twenty years.

I’ve been in a car accident before. Twice. The first involved a kangaroo. It was an unfortunate thing that happened due to the kangaroo changing direction at the last minute. The second time was due to someone doing an illegal u-turn and not bothering to pay attention to what they were doing.

The second one was nowhere near as bad as the first. It was slow.
The first was pretty bad, but luckily enough the kangaroo did not end up going into the car.

These did not happen because someone was on their phone.
These also did not happen due to someone speeding.

They still were not pleasant experiences.

The moment you tell someone who is telling you that you need to obey the law when you’re driving that they’re not in a position to talk about something as you’ve been driving for a while and they haven’t, you reveal how little you consider the risks of driving.

Driving is a privilege. It is not a right.

If you think that it is perfectly acceptable to break the law whilst driving (sans very specific circumstances), then please hand in your license and don’t think about driving until you pull your head out of your ass.

I’m sure that myself and many others do not want to be in a car accident because someone thought that speeding was acceptable, or thought that what was happening on their phone was far more important than paying attention to what they were doing and hit a pedestrian, cyclist or other driver.

Trip II, Trip III

I think.

It might be Trip I and either II or III.

This was seen at Scuplture by the Sea.

It is by April Pine.

A great sculpture that has a good display of form and motion.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 338: Study for Exam Procrastination

Sitting in a computer room that used to have significantly more students in it is weird.
right now there is me and two others. we’re all doing something.

I was meant to start studying a little while ago, but after I get this done (and the photo post) I will get stuck into it as I still have a lot to cover and very little time in which to cover it.

Still, it is weird. The sound of construction is outside. That hasn’t changed.

Inside it feels so empty. I guess that it’s good in a way as it means that if I so decide to do so, I can stretch myself out  a little bit and take up far more space if I so desire.

There’s now a few more people in here, but it’s still relatively empty.

I imagine that there’s a lot of people studying in the library, vying for space.

It might be a little weird seeing the computer lab so empty, but at the same time I am glad as it means less noisy people.

Exams. I have talked about how I do not like exams. I do not like the cram and I am lnot liking study.

I am whinging. I am whinging hard, but it is still whinging.

I could probably do a little more right now, but instead I am not. I am sitting here, whinging about my fate and procrastinating so hard that I could be procrastinating harder. Probably. I don’t know.

Maybe I really should knuckle down for a little while, stick to burning all the information into my eyes.

Maybe I should keep on going on this. I don’t know.

I know that when I am done with this semester, I will be looking to go for a long walk into the bush and lose the whole day to what would be around me.

Maybe I’ll scream really loudly in some sort of anguish and pain.

Not that I will feel very much. I’ll probably feel really tired by the time that I’m done.

Well, soon the exams begin. The first one is tomorrow. On a Saturday. This is ridiculous. I’ll be expected to wear pants, or possibly shorts.

I want to lounge around in my underpants and not worry about anything for a while, but instead I’ll have to be present and do things and keep my knowledge topped up.

I’ll have to make sure that I am there on time and do the things that make me get the marks.

So much to remember and such little care about it all.

Can’t I just give up?

Of course I cannot.

Can’t I write something that is worth reading?

Of course I cannot.

Well, maybe…

Possibly.

Who knows?

Not me.

Or do I?

Why all these questions?

Why am I wasting your time?

Why am I sitting here in a room full of strangers that is not full of strangers?

Too many questions, time to waste more time.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:08:42

This is bad.
I think.
I wanted to write about something else but I thought better of it.

Written at university.
