Cranes

Here is a photo of cranes I took recently.

There’s a large amount of them working on an entertainment precinct being built at Darling Harbour.

They seem to be looming and feel quite ominous and menacing.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Reflection of a Sky

For my twenty-third entry into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” I decided to use another picture I took on the way to the bridge I wanted to take photos of for the bridge theme.

When I saw this, I found myself compelled to stop and take photos.

I really like the clarity of the reflection.

Sometimes when I look at these, it doesn’t feel as though it is the sky being reflected.

It feels like some sort of wave… I think.

I don’t quite know.

To me, it has a rather grand, magnificent, graceful appearance and seems quite mysterious.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-hundred Word Challenge 42: Just Stuff

This evening I find myself sitting here, feeling as though part of me may or may not be missing.

I’m not sure as to which would be more accurate.

In either event, here I currently am, sitting in front of my laptop, working away mercilessly as I always do, slowly grinding my fingers away until they are little nubs that have very little use beyond poking people incessantly, slowly annoying them, then telling them they can’t do anything to me (assuming they explode with rage) as I only have little nubs for fingers.

There is something that I would very much like to talk about, but I do not know if it would be appropriate.

I wrote about a quarter to a half of a rather lengthy post a couple of months ago, then I stopped.

Something happened recently that made me want to finish it, but it might not be the best thing to do.

With that being said, I will probably finish it as I don’t like leaving my posts unfinished, despite how dramatic they can end up being at times.

I’m sitting here, feeling hungry and having a desire to float away for a while, spending time…

I didn’t know how to finish that, so I thought it might be better to leave it there.

This week feels like it is going to be a bit of an odd one.

I think it is due to all the something doing something that I cannot describe right now due to the effects of something.

What was it that I wanted to talk about again?

I think it was something.

I know it was something.

Something was what I wanted to talk about, but it’s probably not something that I should not talk about for some reason beyond me.

Something is not something that should be talked about.

Huh. That really is something.

Anyway, with that excursion into pointlessness aside, I do think this week will be a bit odd.

Not completely odd. Only a bit odd.

I don’t know why I think that.

When I woke up this morning, I looked outside briefly and it looked as though sunrise had already occurred.

I woke up shortly after six A.M., so I’m not too sure if this was in my head or if it was actually the case.

In a short amount of time I will be heading out into the dark with Si and Ewe, off to have adventures unknown, journeying to destinations uncharted, discovering treasures untold and it will be as amazing as it will be fantastic.

When I say that, what I actually mean is that we’re going for food and trivia.

Well, trivia is only possibly.

I want to do trivia but I’m thinking it might be better not to right now.

It might just be better to have a conversation over food, as well as laughs and smiles.

It would also be a bit quieter, so there would be less yelling.

Decisions are hard.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 11:36:28
Written at my desk at home.
I was doing pretty decently with this one until about seven minutes in.
I slowed down a bit, but it happens.
This is the last one I’ve done to see where I write the fastest.

I think I’ll talk about what I’ve found out about my writing in the next challenge.

A Nice Tuesday Afternoon

It’s another photo that makes me wish I had my camera with me.

Shortly after I hopped off the bus this afternoon I saw the sun and the sky and thought it was absolutely gorgeous.

I took this picture when I reached Pyrmont Bridge.

I hope you enjoy.

Cockle Bay

I’ve just found out that the bay in Darling Harbour is called Cockle Bay.

Despite Cockle Bay Wharf being there, I didn’t realise.

Anyway, this is a photo of Cockle Bay I took in the morning on the thirteenth.

It’s a bit odd as it makes the area look far more lively than it actually is when I was there (around six A.M.).

I had found out how to get to where I was to take these pictures only a couple of days beforehand (it might have been more than a couple, but I’m I’m pretty sure it wasn’t).

The view of the bay and Darling Harbour is amazing from where I was.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

A Crab with big, Beefy Arms

Here is a picture I made in 2010.

I think it was 2010.

It may have been 2011.

I wasn’t going to upload this anywhere, but then I got an idea, so now it is here!

It doesn’t look that great as I was stupid enough to save the original as a JPEG on an older version of MS Paint.

Well, that and my ability to make images was far, far worse than it is currently.

I’m still not good, but I’m much better than I was then.

Anyway, a friend of mine gave me the idea.
We had a weird conversation.

It was somewhere around that time that the surprise muffin came into existence, but that’s something I’ll talk about some other time.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-hundred Word Challenge 41: Journey for Lunch

Today I am writing from my office.
It is raining outside.
Actually looking out the window makes me think it might be more accurate to say that it was raining outside as it appears that, within my viewing range, it is no longer raining, therefore making my saying “It is raining outside” inaccurate, although I imagine that it may be raining somewhere in some place far away from where I am.

Everything outside my current field of view and perception of far off locations aside, it is not raining outside.

It was raining earlier though.

I didn’t bring lunch today, so I decided it would be best to go get some junk food for lunch as I was hungry and didn’t feel like pigging out on chocolate form the vending machine.

I stepped outside into the rain with an umbrella and began to make my grave, dangerous journey to the nearest food place that served the function of serving junk food to the masses.

It wasn’t raining too hard, but I still required an umbrella to protect me from tiny deadly drops of rain from pelting me into a coma that I could possibly never wake from, as that is not something I wanted to experience, ever.

When I reached the food court, or at least near it, I found myself at an impasse.

The torturing deluge had created a river, dragging many automobile vehicles into it, carrying them along to a destination unknown.

I didn’t know what to do as I needed to eat as I was rather hungry.

I decided that it would be best to jump from car to car, slowly making my way to the other side of this deadly flow and hoping that I reached the food court without too much injury.

I began to make my way across, slowly but with certainty. However, I miscalculated one jump and ended up being carried downstream much further than I had anticipated.

Eventually I hit a wall of travel machines.

I took quick stock of my surroundings when I spied one car moving quickly towards me.

I had no idea what to do, so I tried to climb the wall.

Unfortunately I was too slow and found myself crushed between heavy metal.

Then I realised none of that all happened and I was trying to make it into a story of sorts that was interesting, not realising that it wasn’t interesting, entertaining or well-written, so I decided the best course of action would be to somehow save the story instead of stopping.
So I was at this car river when suddenly a huge… creature that was half-donkey and half-bastard emerge from the ground beside me.
We engaged in a great battle, using korfball as our competition.

then it stole my wallet and my pants.

Okay.

That doesn’t quite work either.

I obtained lunch without issue, and then went back to work to eat in my office.

Today has been quite uneventful.

Still, it hasn’t been bad.

Yay.

The time it took to write five-hundred words:  12:44:76
Written at work.
A bit slower than expected, but I’m fine with that today.
Not sure if this worth a read, but it sure is silly.
Also, korfball is an actual sport.

Five-hundred Word Challenge 40: Saturday Evening Thoughts

I didn’t like how lacking in stream-of-conscious content the last post was so I thought I’d follow it up immediately with another one.

Also, I wasn’t happy with how flat it seemed. That probably has to do with my being tired currently.

It’s not very satisfactory.

I thought my mind would at least try to take advantage of my fatigued state but instead it’s decided not to and now somehow I have to work around that, like I’m some sort of person who can just easily work around these ridiculous obstacles of a grand, insurmountable variety.

I’m only human! I’m not some sort of orange peel slowly threading itself through a reality worn only by coats in denial about their existence.

I would very much like to rest the moon on my eyelids as I sing softly, growing through the abrasive art of entering a semi-comatose state that is usually known as sleep to most.

I also have absolutely no idea as to what I’m writing about at the moment, but I think that’s part of the fun on relying on whatever is coming out of my thoughts instead of thinking about what I’m writing whilst I’m writing, even though I’m thinking about what I’m writing right now.

I guess I’m talking about two different kinds of thinking there, as one is much more structured and focused, whereas this is much more free-flowing.

free-flowing writing certainly has benefits; some that I cannot explain easily as I’m not entirely sure myself.

But they are there! Just like how marmosets are there, wherever their there may be.

I think it might be time to try and interject some focus into this stupid piece of text, but then it might ruin a flow so carefully made up on the fly that if I do indeed see a fly, I might begin to think about thinking far too much and then the fly will disintegrate, leaving me to clean up the mess whilst I question why things are and why some things aren’t which will inevitably lead to me disappearing on a journey through dense bush land to find out who I am and why I am not something that I probably shouldn’t be, despite knowing who I am and having no desire to do that.

Eventually on said journey the orange peel will reveal itself and begin to eat chupacabras, as for some reason it does not like chupacabras and then I will be forced to realise that my mortality is only at my hand and my work is not done, but I’d be so horribly lost that my only recourse would be to realise that I’m probably dreaming or allowing my mind to wander far too much than I actually should.

Somehow, this post also has turned out a bit too bland and seems as though I’ve tried far too hard.

I can assure you, I haven’t.

Being tired whilst writing certainly does have some interesting effects.

Five more words to go.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 9:51:50
Written at my desk at home.

I think it is quite evident that the biggest benefit (for me) of stream-of-conscious writing is that I am able to write much faster, despite it not making entire sense.
It probably allows me to write faster when I think more about what I’m writing as well.

Now it is time for rest!

Five-hundred Word Challenge 39: Jumping off a Rock into the Ocean

I’m feeling quite tired right now as a great lack of sleep and being out in the sun today have decided to meet at a crossroad and keep traveling together.

Due to this, I apologise if this post goes a bit off the rails and descends into nonsense.

Now, where was I?

At my desk at home.

Anyway, today the weather was unexpectedly warm.

Drew and I were going to go do some parkour.
This ended up leading to him, his partner and I going to the beach for a swim.

We jumped off some rocks at Bondi Beach into the ocean instead.

It was quite cold.

I suspect that this is due to the rocks being further out in the ocean than the beach was (although it wasn’t by a great distance).

Anyway, it was quite cold.
It became colder the longer we were in there.

I ended up getting swept into the rock we jumped from by the ocean and managed to gain a few cuts in the process.

It happens.

The wonderful thing about the ocean is that when you go into it, you shouldn’t be too surprised is something bad happens.

Receiving minor injury is not as bad as it could have been and probably something I could have prevented, but it happened and I was fine with it.

Anyway, jumping off the rock was much more fun than I thought it would be.

I don’t think I’ve been in water that deep before and I liked how cold it was.
It was refreshing in a way but it also felt nice to be surrounded by it, even if it was for a brief minute (approximately).

Considering we’re still in winter at the moment, the warm day was surprising and I feel it was utilised much better than it would have been had I spent it at home all day doing nothing, which is what I almost ended up doing.

I was sluggish to leave bed this morning, despite my need to take care of a good number of things this weekend.

The plan was, aside from parkour, to do a lot of writing, go through my photos, spend some time working on music and then do some drawing.

All this ended up getting discarded for the pursuit of swimming, which ended up changing into jumping off rocks into the ocean.

It was worth much more than I realised as I currently feel quite relaxed.
I also got to have a great day out with Drew and his partner; both people I enjoy the company of.

Jumping off a rock into the ocean is something I would gladly do again.

I’m not sure as to when I want to do it next, but I think it would have to be soon, to feel the coldness of the water and how it completely engulfs for a brief moment before resurfacing.

Maybe at the end of September, or even around the middle of October.

Sooner rather than later.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 15:07:58
Written at my desk at home.

Probably could have been much faster.

Oh well.

Bushwalking in the Blue Mountains

Here are some more photos from when Ewe and I were in Katoomba last year.

We walked to Ruined Castle.
There was one point where I tried to climb up a large rock but it was too windy to go the whole way.

This is my submission for The Daily Post‘s weekly photo challenge.

The theme this week is “Today Was a Good Day“.
I can say for certain that it was.
We got to do some bushwalking, I got to scream really loudly and in the process vent a lot of frustration and sadness, the weather was great, and after all of it we felt pretty good.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
