Mark Morgan: Dream Town

This is another one where I had an idea going. I was hoping for it to be interwoven rather than dominant, but alas.

The writing here is pretty lacking I feel. I think there’s something here but I don’t capitalise enough on it and so a rather vague and uneven presentation of a song.

Mark Morgan’s “Dream Town” is from Fallout 2‘s soundtrack, Fallout 2: The Soundtrack.

I hope you enjoy.

Bright and shining, and a little relaxed. Something relatively idyllic appears and there is a sense of peace and calm, but there is trouble. Sounds stretch and shine and present a fragility whilst strings stir underneath and come and go.

There is a prettiness and it almost seems like something otherworldly, but it is firmly rooted in reality. People go about their days trying to make ends meet and build a community that works together, but the sky shines so bright and the sun beats down with a sense of relentlessness.

The ideal fights to stay strong and strong it stays, for despite the trouble there is hard work toward strengthening the community, but a sadness and slight hope underscores it all, even as the song ends.

About Stupidity Hole

I'm some guy that does stuff. Hoping to one day fill the internet with enough insane ramblings to impress a cannibal rat ship. I do more than I probably should. I have a page called MS Paint Masterpieces that you may be interested in checking out. I also co-run Culture Eater, an online zine for covering the arts among other things. We're on Patreon!
