Three Jibs

A photo of three cranes that probably are farther away from each other than they appear.

I like the cold urban feel of this photo. I also like how the cranes intersect with each other. I think it leads to an interesting formation where they almost don’t feel like cranes.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 894: Don’t Feel Like Writing

So this morning I wrote something out about making sense and trying to make sense and, as I forgot to include the time I’m starting again. Feel a bit silly for forgetting, but sometimes that is the way that it goes and so here I am, racing off once more in the hopes that somehow I capture some of that lack of magic once more. One slight problem, however:

I don’t feel like writing right now.

I guess that in saying that, I realise that that hasn’t stopped me in the past. It is something that I’ve often pushed through and I guess that in writing this, this is a sign that once more I am pushi0hng through my lack of desire to write. Still, I don’t want to do it. I don’t feel like doing it and I just want to go back to bed and be as lazy as I possibly can, but of course I could have avoided all of this if I remembered to add the time it took to write the previous thing, but I didn’t and now I find myself in a position where I need to churn this out so I can get onto other things.

Well, I don’t, but I like to do this thing even though right now I don’t want to do this thing. It is a tough life, or something and so on and so forth. I could just turn around, but I’ve come this far so I may as well get this finished off. Perhaps I will do better in terms of time this time around. That would be nice. It would be better if I didn’t have to worry about the time at all, which I guess I don’t. However, that would defeat the purpose of the challenge and therefore I shall continue to stride on, regardless of how lazy I am feeling at this present moment.

Now that I have that out of the way, I don’t know as to what else I can say other than I don’t want to work today, but I am, so therefore I’m just adding to the load of work. Still, procrastination is something in which I excel and it would seem like a bad thing to break that habit right now.

Maybe it would be a good thing, but I don’t think that that is happening today. Therefore the rest of this writing will not go anywhere and will not explore anything. It will indulge in my laziness and I will get to the end, then pat myself on the back for a job well done.

Well, maybe I won’t. Maybe instead of all of that I’ll just knuckle down, get this done and then do whatever else comes along without any self-congratulating. Maybe. I don’t know if I feel like taking that route. Would rather celebrate my excess instead of just moving on right now, but of course and as always, that is something for some other day.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:16:93

I think this is better than what it replaced, but I still find it lacking.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 893: Five Seconds

A bit of a cough but then it’s all getting up and zooming about. Cramming as much as one can into a small gap of five seconds. Perhaps after that point the day will take off and maybe go a slight bit faster to make up for lost time. There is no telling at this point, but it will happen at some point and perhaps that day is today.

Until then it’s just the rushing about. Only five seconds to get as much done before time resumes. That is not a lot of time, but I’m sure that with enough time it could be a lot of time. Just need t0o make sure that I plan my route carefully.

Need to also make sure I’m clothed and ready to go. Don’t want to run outside naked by mistake. That would be wasted time in this particular situation.

Maybe I leap out of bed and launch myself through the clothes of which I am going to wear for the day. Somehow I’ve already showered so there would be no need to have a shower as I’m already shower fresh and ready to go. The bed is perhaps also a shower. No wait; maybe it has a shower built into it so that when I’m waking up it has already showered me and therefore I’m fresh and have woken up due to the entering a state of being shower fresh.

Perhaps I will also launch through the bedroom door. Normally this would not be advised, but considering the time constraint that I have, I feel that it’s an acceptable thing to contend with at a later date. Door will probably repair itself anyway. No issues there. Also gives me a more dramatic exit and entry which of course helps in these situations.

From there I should probably sprint to the backyard and water all of the plants. Now of course this might take some time, but it should be able to be fit within a five second period. Will just need to move really quickly. The plants will be hydrated and happy and I too will be happy knowing that the plants will be hydrated and happy.

From there… I’m not too sure as to where to go. I guess the best process would be to sprint to the front of the house and start walking to wherever it is that I need to walk so that I can get a few things done before time catches up. If that happens, then I’m sorted. If not… well, I’ve lost some time that I probably didn’t have in the first place. Could be worse. There are other things to worry about that could be much worse than this. However, I’m sure that I can get a lot done in those five seconds. Maybe I can get a lot more done than I am allowing myself to believe. Maybe, just maybe, I can get everything (and more) done within that limited amount of time.

A bit of silly writing.

Between Cables Again

This is the western side of the same pylon in yesterday‘s photo.

I think in some ways this image has a different feel. I think it might be a little clearer on some details, but due to the shade the pylon feels more imposing. I also think that there’s less of a sense of asymmetry.

I hope you enjoy.

A Poem About Struggling to Critique

Been a bit of time since the last bit of “poetry”.

I think this one might be too blunt.

I hope you enjoy.

I’ve spent time sitting
Prepared to take action
Mostly I just stare

In terms of critiquing
Perhaps my mind is barren
As sheets remain blank

As much as I try
All that steps forward
Are partial scraps

It might be that
Whilst I’m trying
I’m not trying enough

Instead of sitting
And staring into space
I should try and do

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 892: Might Swim

Morning once again. Writing once again. On the move and trying to find my groove, but I left it somewhere and where that somewhere is is somewhere that is long forgotten until it ends up being the last place that I look, so hopefully that happens sooner rather than later as I need to finish this bit of writing off so I can move onto the next bit of writing and then move onto the next bit of writing after that.

However, instead I might go for a swim, assuming I can get to the water where there is swimming to be had. That is a little bit of a distance away, but still, it is not something that I cannot traverse, though it may take some time and time is not what I want to be using right now. What I want to be using is my wits and somehow the ability to teleport without any ramifications that could be considered as belonging to the negative type. There need to only be positives and therefore so long as there are positives, there are no negatives. Sure, you could take the good with the bad, but why would you want to do that? I want to be in a  situation where there is no relation to other things so that I can only have positives and live in a world filled with nothing but positives.

Anyway, now that I have that out of the way, maybe I should go for a swim, but only in my imagination as once more the day is going to be busy and I need to grapple with it and take on what I can to get to the end of the day so that everything and anything is complete. No stones unturned and all that.

Therefore I shall go for a dive and swim in my work and look for hidden treasures there. It might be a dangerous adventure, but I’m sure there will be quite a lot of excitement and tedium, but mostly tedium and not much excitement. That would be the ideal way to proceed with my expectations so I get to wherever it is that I need to get to, assuming there is anywhere to go other than in a circle. Maybe there will be also some procrastination.

This is all too much for me to handle, although it is not, so I think instead I’ll just settle for a day where the things happen and the metaphorical swims do not involve diving. Just float along and let the currents take me somewhere, so long as where they take me are not further out. As much as I would like to go for a swim, I don’t want to have to swim too much for too long. I want to be able to relax a bit and then come back to the shore with little difficulty, but of course something something and so that’s why it is better to be careful.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 04:49:86

Wrote this in the morning and then went into a cycle of forgetting and remembering to upload.

Not great. There’s some focus but perhaps not enough.

Between Cables

More of ANZAC Bridge.

I really like how the cables seem to be spread out as it creates this feeling of asymmetry through perspective, I think.

I also like how clear the cables came through. They stick out and take focus, and also help to strengthen pattern imagery in conjunction with their shadows.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 891: Might Nap

Tired, tense and all of those other things. Riding a wave at the moment and hopefully it will be going down soon, and gently.

Been awake too long but that’s okay. I’m still functioning and so long as I’m still functioning I’m doing okay. I want to do better than okay but okay is a good baseline from which one can move from and so I will truly to move from that baseline. Of course there will be many steps to move and some of them will be small, whilst others may be large. Hopefully there will be a varying range of sizes when it comes to the steps so that it is not all uniform and feels more like an erratic walk than perhaps it should.

Erratic can be nice on the odd occasion but right now I think… no, I would prefer it, or maybe I don’t. I don’t know. Fatigue is kicking in early and I’m really starting to feel it. Maybe I should take a nap. Maybe I should rest my eyes and hope that tomorrow comes sooner rather than later. As much as I normally would not want to sleep the day away, today that sounds like a nice idea and so I might just endeavour to get into that today. I might just go have a nap and then wake up tomorrow morning and then go from there. feel rested to an acceptable level and all of that other stuff.

However, I  am now realising that if I end up sleeping the whole day, I might just miss out on something exciting and grand, and also exciting. I might miss out on small progress and therefore miss out on a bunch of other things. There could be a lot that happens today and I would not be here to witness it due to being in bed and in a deep nap. This is not somethin that I considered earlier and perhaps it is now too late for me to consider. Perhaps I should have thought more about this earlier rather than now.

It is not too late to turn around, but perhaps it is. Perhaps I have already put myself into a position of missing out on the whole day and there is little that I can do about it now other than hope that somehow my resistance of the going to bed to nap and then sleep for the rest of the day holds out and I somehow avoid all of that and end up staying awake and witnessing things that I would not have witnessed otherwise. Then again, I could get some sleep. Sleep would be nice. It would be nice to sleep. It might even be fantastic to sleep.

Now I am caught at a T-intersection and no not which way to turn, so perhaps i0t is now time for me to split into two and make the most of both situations, then somehow find a way to reform myself tomorrow.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:32:20

I was quite tired when I wrote this.
Unfortunately there was no nap and now I’m feeling more tired than earlier.

Stanmore Station at Night

Part of the station at the very least.

I think what this photo has a lot of is space. I think it shows and displays space well. Not sure if it makes effective use of that space.

I also think that this scene makes use of some minimalism. Details are low and there appears to be few objects that aren’t the platform.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 890: Camera Servicing, Rainfall

Today once more the camera goes in for a servicing and of course I will feel naked, or something. It’s a sad event, but a necessary one and therefore it is one that I shall embrace due to it being necessary.

There are things that are happening soon and once more I need the camera to be as clean and fully-functioning as it can be so as to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as it can go.

It currently is raining and my hope is that the rain holds out as I’ll be taking photos before putting the camera in. Want to capture some areas in certain states of rainfall, so hopefully the rain continues. If it does not, then at least I get a nice walk before putting the camera in. I think this is what they refer to as playing it safe, or something.

Well, to be honest, I know not what they refer to it as, or who “they” are. But I digress.

I’m hoping that it doesn’t rain too hard as if it does it might make it a bit more difficult to get to the place where I get my camera serviced. I am hoping to get it in today and get it back by Thursday. Of course I could just deal with heavy rain, but why would I want to do that? I don’t want to. It’s too easy to do, or something.

Anyway, I think that soon I shall take my leave and head out to the outside and hope for the best. It looks like I might just get rain when I want rain, though perhaps I will not. Perhaps instead of getting the rain when I want the rain I will get nothing and everything will dry up and that will leave me in a position of carrying a raincoat for no reason. Of course it’s better to be prepared, but it is also better to carry less objects so that there is a lighter load in the backpack and therefore I will be more nimble and quick, so if there is a sudden downpour I might be able to dodge away from it and get away without getting too wet, or wet at all. This is of course assuming that it was not raining, then it was suddenly raining rather heavily which is something that I want to avoid entirely and…

Well, I think you get the idea, so I might just wrap this up here. Of course I still have a bit to go before I can completely wrap this up, but the hope is that sooner rather than later the wrapping of up will happen rather than the elongating of pointlessness. Also I need to start getting ready pretty soon as if I do not then all of my opportunities will be missed and I’ll stay sitting here whilst the camera does not get its cleaning and servicing, so yeah.

Still rather avoid heavy rain though.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:27:54

I think I was aiming for grounded writing with this one, but of course the writing eventually moved away from being grounded. Of course it came to a halt before it could really float off.
