Five-Hundred Word Challenge 899: Investigation

An early waking up once more and once more I feel alert enough. How odd. This is a mystery that I feel as though I need to investigate.

The first thing that I should probably do is look for clues, but in reality the first thing I should probably do is head to the scene of the incident. Maybe there will be paperwork involved. This is a journey that must be completed before any other work that involves the act of investigating can proceed. If I look for clues where I currently am situated, then I’m probably not going to get very far unless I know what it is that I’m meant to be looking for, which I don’t, so therefore to the scene of the incident first. Also some paperwork, maybe.

Then I shall begin the process of looking for clues.

How I shall look for them is not something I can say, but I imagine that it will involve some sort of due process that I need to follow. Anything outside of that is what I’d like to refer to as trade secret, but really is me trying to cover for the fact that I don’t know what I am doing and just hoping for the best and also hoping that no one discovers that I have no idea as to what it is that I’m doing.

After this is done, I then will go through the process of going to some place where I can work out the evidence and try and piece it all into one puzzle that has all of its pieces so then I can work out why it is that I have woken up early two days in a row.

The first of course might just remain a mystery, but the light shall be shed on the second one and that is what I am hoping for. After the light is shed, I can then work out completely why, or something.

However, perhaps there is a twist. Perhaps that twist might lead to some of the information being wrong to throw off the scent, for there is a twist most revelatory and therefore it is one that will shake the very foundations of the investigation to its core.

There is the possibility that perhaps I already know why I have woken up early and therefore I don’t want others to find out and therefore I will do what I can to make sure that they cannot find out, but do so in a way that does not hint and obfuscation. Therefore there will be more obfuscation of the most obfuscating and misleading variety and perhaps at the end of it all it will remain only I who knows of the thing that is the cause and only I who will be able to grapple with it, but who knows?

There is every chance that I might leave the wrong misleading clue that will then lead to the source. The twist could be discovered.

Silly early morning writing, but this is quite cohesive.
More so than other things I’ve recently written.

Vanquished Minotaur

Here’s another sculpture that is a part of The Archibald Memorial Fountain.

Theseus is partially off to the side. When I took this photo I wanted to focus on the minotaur and its form and facial expression.

I think there’s a sense of aftermath in the minotaur, which, considering what the sculpture represents, makes sense. There was a fight and we’re seeing part of the aftermath.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 898: Driving Shortly

I have a few minutes before I need to head off, so I’m going to try and squeeze this in. See if I can make up for lost tinge, or something. Not really sure.

Still feeling tired, but waking up. Well, woke up a while ago, but am feeling a little more awake now than I did earlier. This is a good thing, I think. It is good as I’ll be driving shortly and it is better to be awake and aware than unaware and lacking in being alert whilst driving, I think.

I think a lot of things.

Still, I am feeling a little tired and thus I want to make sure that I don’t drift off behind the wheel. If I drift off, then who will take over? Someone will have to move into the driver’s seat, but perhaps they would express too much shock and surprise at seeing someone drift off and away from the wheel due to being too tired. Then something bad would happen, or maybe not. Maybe nothing bad would come of it, but I’d be floating off and away.

This of course means that I would be moving away from the traffic also, so I wouldn’t be in much danger, but another problem now arises:

It is raining outside and I may not have had time to put my raincoat on, or even considered it due to being in a state where it was easy enough for me to drift off and float away. I’d need to find shelter, but in that state I’d be powerless to do anything about the situation and therefore… well, I don’t know, really.

I guess I’d just have to deal with getting drenched by rain if shelter is not something I’m able to get to in time to prevent getting drenched. Of course I’d also need to make sure that I’m able to get home somehow, but I don’t know if this would be something I’d be able to do, what with the floating about, being unable to control where I’m going happening.

Perhaps this is a signal that I should have tried to get a bit more sleep last night. A bit more would have gone a long way, or something. However, they didn’t have enough at the shops and so I got what I could. Would have preferred more, but what can you do, other than try and get a bit more a bit earlier so that you can then get a bit more sleep?

I guess, now that I think about it all, I could also just anchor myself so I don’t have to worry about floating about and all of that stuff. Might be a good idea, but also might affect my pedal control.

At the end of it all, what the best thing for me to do right now is remain alert as I am alert. I should also be careful. I’m awake enough, so there will be no floating away today.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:15:18

This felt like it was going to get a little too grim for my liking at the moment, so it turned around and became a bit lighter and more silly.

Not great writing, but a slight bit more cohesive than other recent things I’ve written.

Under a Sail

Here’s a part of The Sydney Opera House.

I like seeing the underside of this sail as it shows the utilitarian aspect of the building. In part the the structure appears as though it was influenced by brutalism, which makes me wonder if part of the building took influence from that architectural style.

I also like how this part of the building appears in due to the angle at which it was capture in this photo. It feels both odd and familiar, I think.

Edit: last night I realised I had the wrong photo up (I’d already shared it) and so have now swapped it out for the correct photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Killing Joke: In Cythera

This one took a bit longer to write than I thought it would.

I wrote a few sentences last night. I then wrote the bulk a few hours ago and finished it off a few minutes ago. I don’t think it has the same sense of immediacy that some of the other ones I’ve written have, but it is a little more descriptive without going too far, I think.

This is a beautiful piece of music that I’m quite familiar with, which also may have contributed to how long it took to write.

Killing Joke’s “In Cythera” is from MMXII.

I hope you enjoy.

Quick, snappy percussion along with synths creating an expansive, atmospheric sound. Guitar rings out and, along with bass somewhere underneath, melds with the foundation.

The guitar pulls back and narrow as the vocals come in. Expressions of gratitude and perhaps fond memories. Appreciation. A softness in the voice helps to carry forward these, as well as a sense of heartfelt sentimentality. It’s firm, but gentle. Honest.

The chorus kicks in and the guitars become harder and thicker, but without becoming overbearing. What has thus far been expressed finds itself reinforced. The song remains driving and emotional, but contextualised within a sense of celebration.

Just after the chorus words expressing meeting with someone at some point in the future carries with it a sense of quiet, then guitar bursts in, filling space once more.

The second verse comes in, reinforcing meaning and expression along the same lines of the first, though with a sense of acceptance of possibility. Atmospheric the song remains as it continues to drive forward, remaining unwavering in what it is doing.

The chorus repeats, as does the post-chorus words. Everything drops, the vocals ring out, then suddenly the instruments pull back in for one more triumphant repeat of the chorus, then one last repeat of the post-chorus words. Guitar strikes out and once more melds with the wide expanse, then the song finds its end.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 897: Racing too Much

The next hour is going to be an interesting one as, including this bit of writing, I’m going to try and get three things finished and uploaded here. Maybe I’ll even try for four, but I’ll start with three first and see where that takes me.

I think that where this part will get me to is the completion of the first part. Shortly after a second thing will go up and then the third. Maybe I can get it all done in forty minutes, but I don’t want to push myself too much. I think twenty minutes per thing is good. That gives me a bit of time to not put too much pressure on myself, but of course I need to keep the pressure up  so I can get the things done. There will be writing. This is writing. Therefore, this is part of the writing.

There may even be a photo.

I don’t know as to why I am writing this, but I am, so there you go. This is what happens when I wait too long to write. If I had tackled this in the morning, then I am sure that there would be some sort of substance that I would be able t0o get across with a great deal more ease, but instead this is just more of an announcement and then I will do the other thing;. That is what is going to happen today and I’ll make sure that it makes sense, or something. maybe there will be no sense to be made and instead you’ll all be left wi0th a mess, which is something I’ve said before so perhaps I should not go down that path and instead just focus on this and whatever it is that I’m meant to be getting across at the moment, outside of my being hopelessly lost and struggling and trying to get to the end of this so I can move onto the next thing sooner rather than later.

Already I feel the time growing short as I’ve started a little too late and therefore I need to move a little more quickly, which is no-t something that I’m doing at the moment as I’m relaxing a little too much, which is of course not a good thing. Or maybe it is.

Either way I am racing against the clock so I need to move a little faster than I currently am if I really am going to squeeze everything in. Makes it harder to do so if I move slowly, so fast is the way that I need to move and perhaps I am nearly there. Perhaps I can get to the end sooner rather than later, but of course it is always the hope that instead of “perhaps” it is “definite”. Maybe this will be definite. I don’t know. Will hopefully find out the sooner I get this done, or something.

See, now I’m stuck on a circle but hopefully soon it will stop.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 04:50:28

This was influenced a little too much by what I am trying to do and I think that really doesn’t help this bit of writing.

Ibis Legs

I can’t remember why I took this photo. I think it was wanting to frame the legs in a certain way.

I really like how well the detail came through. Other than some parts, there’s a great deal of clarity on the legs and feet that I think helps them really stand out.

I like the difference between where the legs are as it helps to show how birds can retract their legs.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 896: No Thoughts Entering

What am I doing?

Why am I sitting here with this open right now? I’ve nothing to write. No thoughts are entering, but most are leaving for the time being. Maybe they will come back a little bit later on in the day. For now, it’s just this and there will be other things, but I don’t know as to what I am doing at the present moment, other than racing forward and hoping for the thoughts to come back sooner rather than later.

I saw them leave. They followed a line outside my window and then drifted off to somewhere I cannot reach. This is, of course, not ideal. I need them in my brain so that I can make good use of them, or at least some use of them. If they go elsewhere, then there is little I can do with them. There is little use I can make of them unless I am able to follow them, which in this instance I am unfortunately not able to do so and of course that upsets me to some extent. It is only a mild upsetting and not a major one, but an upsetting nonetheless.

What am I to do? Who am I to follow? Where do I even go form here? There is no racing to the bottom; there is just sitting and hoping for the best.

Of course that hoping for the best is hoping that the thoughts come back out of their own volition. Maybe some twisting and coercing can help, but unfortunately this is  not something that I can provide at the moment. What I am able to provide is a place for them to be housed, which is in my head, but of course I need them to come back from where they are.

If they do not come back, then at the least go to somewhere where I am able to follow so I can follow them and have a chat and then try to convince them that it is better to come back and not abandon my thinking. That would also be ideal, but of course I have no idea if I can even pull this off. It’s all wishful thinking and I am thinking wishfully about the whole thing, really. Maybe that won’t happen and instead I’ll just sit here, staring at this screen and continue on hoping for the best and not expecting the worst.

If that does not work out, then of course I need to find other options of which I can pursue. Maybe I will need to create some new thoughts and then try and keep them in my brain. That too would be a good idea. Maybe that is what will need to be done. Of course then the issue of the old thoughts returning becomes a thing, so I’ll create more room first. That way I can accommodate all that needs to be accommodated and therefore there will be a solution that might work.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 04:56:25

With this one I just followed my thoughts.

Lady and Heron

It has been a while since I last took a photo of The Lewis Wolf Levy Fountain.

I think the lady is trying to keep the object in her hand away from the heron.
I think this due to the way the scene is framed. The lady is turned away from the heron whilst holding the object above her.

Maybe the heron surprised the lady.

I feel that this sculpture captures the act of motion and expressiveness really well.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-thirty-sixth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Subjects Starting With the Letter S“.

I feel this counts due to it being a sculpture.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week’s challenge is curated by Patti. Leya is curating the next challenge.

The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 895: Maybe the Heat

Alright, so where do I begin, other than at the beginning, thus expressing that I do know where to begin and am just wasting time in order to fulfill some sort of quota that does not matter in the grand scheme of things?

The heat is creeping in today. It is steady and apparent, but stealthy and hidden. I am aware of its presence but of course it will make itself more and more known and I will always be aware of it being here, but it will keep on creeping up and on the odd occasion I will probably realise that it is more prominent at that time of realising than it was during the previous time of realising. Such is the way of things and such is the way that today I will operate in my acknowledging of things. Perhaps better that way as it means that I’m focusing on other things. Would rather have the focus elsewhere other than on some sort of oppressive heat that, in the grand scheme of things, is not the worst thing that I could be experiencing right now.

Still, there is something something and therefore I will find the conclusion and place it in its right place. Maybe the heat will watch over me as I do this. Maybe the heat will continue to try and wrap itself around me whilst I do this. Maybe it just wants to embrace and show some sort of love and affection, but it needs to know that right now is not the time as I have other things to worry about and it’s an additional pressure that I don’t want to deal with, even though it’s not much of a pressure, now that I think about it.

So long as it does not get too hot, I should be fine. I will do my best t0o not complain about this and get on with getting on. Maybe there will be some sort of combining our forces and working to solve crimes. That would be fun. Well, maybe it would not, but maybe it would. I could go on adventures and all of that other stuff that crime stuff involving two unlikely protagonists pairing up to form a surprisingly effective team involves.

At the same time, that would mean having to do more and I want to do less. I don’t want to do more. I want to be able to do more relaxing and be lazy and sleep and maybe go for a swim and eat and so on and so forth, and getting involved in dangerous, yet somehow lucrative adventures is not something I want to do at the moment. Involves too much moving and…

I’m not sure as to where I’m going with this and I don’t think I want it to continue, so perhaps it is now time to wrap this bit of writing up and say that it was all planned ahead. It wasn’t, but I’m pretending it was planned.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:53:43

With this one I was typing quite quickly until somewhere in the second half where I slowed right down. Not overly fussed as I still had this written pretty quickly.

In terms of quality, I think this is worse than usual. There are some things in this that I think could work if they were expanded upon, but overall not good writing.
