A Few Ways Out

Stairs, a lift, and the train all lead to leaving this station in some manner.

The slight blur on the train suggests its leaving.

This photo has a slight moodiness to it, and whilst it appears quiet, the train’s motion also suggests its sound.

I do like how enclosed and small this space feels as from this spot it is pretty small.
Now that I think about it, the area around the corner also is pretty small.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 675: Decision Regarding Comfort

Cold morning once more, but can’t let that stop me as there are things to do and I need to get on with my life, so hopefully the gloves that I am wearing will help me conquer the bitterness of t he encroaching winter, but of course they can only do so much.

I guess it is the same with writing, but at least with the writing I can try and push through and pretend that I’m getting to the bottom of something, or nothing at all, really.

I should probably go to the bathroom right now as I need to go to the bathroom, but that then involves standing up and I’m feeling rather warm. Actually I’m not, but I’m feeling somewhat-comfortable and as such my getting up would remove that feeling of comfort, though of course it would only be temporary and it would mean that once I’ve gone to the bathroom I would no longer need to go to the bathroom for a period of time and that of course would be more relieving… why am I talking about this?

So anyway, I’m here and not there and in the present I exist and I want this ear blockage to do itself in as it’s rather annoying and causing some issues, but of course treatment over time is the only way to truly remove it, so treating it is what I continue to do and waiting is also what I continue to do. Of course I’d much prefer sooner rather than later, but at the same time I’d just rather it be gone.

I think I’d rather a few more things also but that all falls down to hoping and waiting, though some of it doesn’t now that I think about it. Some of it falls on me doing the things and keeping the eyes open for opportunity to further them, but right now it’s all about deciding whether or not I get up or not. Probably should get up sooner rather than alter as that would be more productive to my ability to function right now.

Alright the gloves are now off as they were slowing down my ability to put words together to form sentences. That also is something that I don’t know as to why I wrote, but nit came out and now it is out there and no longer within. I no longer have to worry about its existence as a statement as it is no longer within me and I am no free to continue on with my observations that need some sort of explanation in order to have meaning, or maybe they don’t. Depends on the day, now that I try to think about it and give this writing some sort of coherence in the ultimate form of space where it takes up some, though also none depending on how tangible you consider the words to be.

I mean, it’s not like they exist in a visible form of three dimensions.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:38:21

So in the time between writing and uploading this I’ve spent roughly three hours trying to get the blockage out of my ear. I’ve managed to get part of it out which is good as it was impeding my ability to actually do anything. It’s been fun, let me assure you.

Anyway, I think I like the “realness” of this writing, but that’s about it.

Moving Lights

This was taken in Campsie a few weeks ago.

I like how the light lines came out as they’re rather distinct. Along with the vagueness of the surrounding area, they create a strong impression of the suburban landscape, I think.

This is my submission into the ninety-seventh Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “pastimes“. Whilst I have more opportunities to do photography for work than I did in the past, I still have plenty of time to do it as a pastime and play around with it a bit. Also I wanted to share this photo; hence my sharing it for this challenge.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is guest hosted by Sue of Mac’s Girl. Next week it will be hosted by Leya.

I recommend giving the challenges a go and seeing how you interpret each theme. I also recommend checking out what other people are doing to meet the challenges.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 674: Writing About Writing a Review (Kind of)

I don’t think I’ve written more than a few sentences today and I’ve spent a lot of the day not doing anything so I feel that right now I must write something.

Sitting on a review and trying to get it all written out but it’s not working. The words aren’t happening. I sit there and don’t want to face it. I want to look away, but the longer I do that the longer it does not see completion and the lengthier the backlog becomes, so I guess I’ll get whatever this will become out of the way and then move on to the review and get that out of the way and then go to sleep as I need sleep as I’ve been awake for too long at this point. Maybe.

Anyway, long, lazy day of very little happening and it seems that the time manages to go by faster when there’s little done as opposed to more than a little. Sometimes doing a lot can slow time right down too, but then again that is not always the case, as is the case with these things as they say.

I think that maybe I just need to get to it, but I need to get this done as this is current and the review is not in the present at the moment. It sits on either side of the present, so here I am sitting and writing about writing a review rather than writing a review.

That probably isn’t interesting at all, but, well, that is the predicament of which I find myself firmly contained within.

Okay; to be fair, it is not much of a predicament. I’m procrastinating, but due to staying up late for no reason I’m tired and when I’m tired I’m more lazy than usual and that isn’t a particularly good thing, but sometimes that is the way it goes. Still, it doesn’t mean I can’t be productive tonight and end up finishing the review off, though I imagine I might end up scrapping the whole thing and starting again as I’m not quite happy with how it’s turning out. It might be a little too clinical, I think.

Am I reviewing my review as it currently appears?

Anyway, I know I should get to it now, but this first. This out of the way. Then that. Then maybe another review, though I just want to crawl in bed and fall asleep and forget about the nothingness of today. There was a walk and there was plenty of rest, but I’ve been too slow and not productive enough. I need to do something more than what I’ve done today and I think I can. I can get this review done. I don’t want to look at it or even think about it, but I can get it done.

Stuff it. I’ll just wipe the slate clean and start again and knock it out. See what happens. Hopefully it’ll end up reading far less clinically.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:39:84

Need more sleep.

Western Distributor

A rather small part of it, but still The Western Distributor nonetheless

I feel like this photo is a poor attempt at suggesting, or at least paying homage to Steve Baccon’s homage to Jeffrey Smart, though not through intention.

Perhaps a better way to put it would be that by happenstance this photo feels as though it is of a similar world, though very much of a lesser quality and a different feel.

I do wish the corner feature and footpath it is a part of were not in the shot, but you work with what you have.

I like the soft lighting and the seeming loneliness of the ute. It makes the photo feel softer in a sense, as well as of being a capturing of the morning, which it was.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s TPM photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this challenge is “Empty Streets”.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Growth on an Edge

A little bit of the area as seen at Govetts Leap.

I think this scene works well with the space as the fog really makes the area seem quite empty, even if it isn’t.

In conjunction with the bare trees and the whole thing feels cold and somewhat-morose.

I think that this photo is a little bit about texture, but I’m not entirely certain.

I like the low detail in what is visible around the trees. Stuff is there and its noticeable, but it doesn’t hold focus.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 673: Blot out the Sun

Windows fogged up is what I see next to me and on the other side I feel the encroaching of the cold, but I’ve got to push on as work is soon and I want to feel as though I’ve accomplished something before the day of work starts, but of course the only way I can do that is through some sort of process, whether it be realised or not.

I think I might be thinking too much about it, but I’m trying to paint an impression and if I do that well enough, the you’ll get the idea and I’ll move on. Well, I’ll move on either way, but you get the idea. It’s about writing and writing is what I’m going to do, but what it will be about this morning, I’m really not sure.

Perhaps in order to discern this I must first blot out the sun using some sort of blotting ink and blotting paper, but I’d need both in large quantities in order to blot out the sun. It would probably take a while too, and I don’t know if I have a while available to me. I know I have some time, but a while is a long time and perhaps I need to think of the other things that I need to do throughout the day.

Maybe I could do it tomorrow as tomorrow is Sunday and as I am not working tomorrow I have a little bit more free time than usual, so perhaps that would allow me to do the blotting. Then again, maybe I’d need more than one day. Perhaps I would need… two consecutive days.

That seems like a lot of time to dedicate to doing this one task, but then again perhaps it is not enough time. I need to remember that there also needs to be the procuring of resources and that in itself takes a lot of time; especially for the amount of resources I am requiring for this task of ardour. I guess it might just be a good thing then that I have part of this afternoon off, so therefore I can spend that time getting what it is that I need in order to undertake the task of blotting out the sun.

Once I have done that I can then spend the time doing the task of what it is that I’m seeking to do. Once that is done, then I can think about what it is that I shall write about. OF course that then means that once I’ve thought about it, I can write it down and once it is written I can then use some sort of blot remover to reveal the sun as it normally appears, which I imagine would be a good thing as then there isn’t this huge black thing floating around that we can see.

Maybe instead of doing all of this it would be a more prudent use of my time to get to writing.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:26:75

Not sure what to make of this. It’s silly. It’s kind of nonsensical.

Persimmon Rides a Train

This was taken whilst heading to St James Station.

I got up from my seat and headed to the carriage’s doors a couple of minutes early, saw this persimmon and decided to take a few photos as it’s not often you get to see a persimmon with a paper bag next to it on a train.

This is a moody photo, I feel. Low on light and framed in a manner that gives a sense of space. Not too much, but just enough to perhaps give a sense of loneliness. Maybe.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 672: Tenderness Trickles

Tenderness trickles on down and onto the floor, where it shall forever seep into whatever it is that covers the surface on which we all tread upon, leading to its loss which proves to be a little bit more than just a shame. Sometimes that is thew way things go and there’s little that can be done about it other than think about what happened, think about how it can be prevented and then try to move on whilst keeping the knowledge in mind in case it is needed down the track.

It’s a time for understanding, but that’s known, so it doesn’t need mentioning; at lest, not now, that is.

Other than that, the surface upon which we all walk will one day bring forth new life, though when, how and where is quite dependent on human traffic. The less, the better. The more, the worse.

Perhaps what will be brought forth will be some sort of home for an animal, or young plants to burst forth and reach for some sort of light, so long as they need it. They might not need to reach far if the area has a lot of low-lying vegetation, but of course that could end up changing down the track. Some larger plants could grow, obscuring the sun, causing the small ecosystem patch to change, therefore leading to different species inhabiting an area. Perhaps it would remain somewhat-stable and thus many plants of the same ilk will end up springing forth, all sharing the sun, leading to a consistent look in the area, as well as consistent shelter for many animals that would make use of that kind of shelter in order to enhance their chances of survival.

If there is more human traffic, then of course this could all change and perhaps even though there was something that could spring forth from the earth might not spring forth at all, leading once more to the trickling down of tenderness onto the floor, leaving us to once think about what may have been in the area, followed by a deep thinking and moving along. Perhaps next time the process will be prevented so long as the pocket of land is loved enough. Who knows?

Of course though it’s a bit of a battle. How much spread is necessary? Should we keep on going, or should we stop and let the world be as much as we possibly can? Questions that need to be carefully considered, but then again, there are many others out there that also need to be considered.

There are many questions and many answers. There are may routes, but somewhere out there something will come from the earth and rise up out of it, or perhaps it will instead come to the earth and dig deep. Perhaps it will change faster than we thought was possible, but perhaps for a while it will not. Regardless, if tenderness keeps on trickling down, then at what point does enough become enough?

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:08:24

So this is messy.

I started off with some idea of imagery going on, but then it became quite serious. Not sure why.

Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge

Now with far less people than usual.

I really like the sense of space as it’s much easier to appreciate the size of this area.

It kind of makes the Sydney Opera House appear smaller than it usually does.

I also like the stillness. Were it not for the current situation and it would feel as though this area is one where very few people now visit.

I’ll take a similar shot once more people are visiting the area again so as to be able to compare.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.
