ANZAC War Memorial at Night

It’s interesting as to how objects can appear vastly different at night.

I think that the shape is strong, but there is still an uncertain quality.

I like that it seems almost as though to get in, you have to descend.

There’s a lit of clear line work and texture despite it being night, but it’s definitely a different feel when compared to daytime.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 583: Lotta Stuff to do

So I’m here in the library once more. Trying to get as much done with as little time in which to do it all, stressing out for no reason. Need more coffee, but also recognising that that’s a bad idea.

It’s all a stress and pressure day. A lot of things that need to get done, but I just want to go back to the bush, which is where I was yesterday.

It was a lovely morning. Saw the sunrise, went driving, went into the bush and walked around a bit, then came back to Sydney to be very tired and do very little for a while.

There was some doing of the things, but most of the things were not done, for I was tired. There was driving and the driving led to a direction of choice, but there was also being tired.

The air was crisp and it was cold. It was a delicious day of exploration and walking, and buying bread, and getting gloves, and drinking coffee. Seeing the moon instead of the sun due to the sunrise being behind us, and still seeing the sunrise at the same time was a pretty wonderful thing.

Many valleys, other things: you know, the usual.

Now I’m back and I’m trying to finish a whole number of things before I need to go to class. this is not fun. It’s a lot of pressure and it’s pressure that I don’t want to deal with due to my being lazy. However, that only leads to the creation of more pressure.

Maybe I should be less lazy.

Well, I’m going to have to be over the next few days. Don’t have much of a choice there. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I need to make sure that I stop the procrastination machine.

Maybe I should stop procrastinating on going to the bush more often. So what if it is cold?

On another note, I enjoyed the cold of the bush more than I enjoy the cold of the city. Sure, it’s a little warmer than the bush (especially the mountains), but all the buildings and concrete and all that other stuff makes it feel so much colder. It’s much easier to deal with in the bush, I think, as you’re in nature. To me it makes for an overall more enjoyable experience, and thus I don’t feel as though I feel it as much.

In the city it just seems to feel so much more cold and unpleasant.

I imagine that that is just me projecting onto the environment, but it is still a thing that I am experiencing and thus that is going to shape how I feel about certain things.

Well, with all of that being said, I guess I’m going to get back to pulling my hair out and trying to get as much done with as little time as possible.

I recommend not trying it, or trying it. Your choice. At least, I think it is.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:21:86

This post was brought to you by stress and writing much more loosely than usual.

Ageing Structure

It’s clear that it’s been a while since this area last saw some maintenance go into it.

Not sure why someone would either put or leave material hanging over one of the girders.

It’s a scene of an old place full of memories.

I think the light is balanced well and I also think there’s a nice level of detail in this shot.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 582: Foot Tingles

The foot tingles and I am left but to wonder as to why I am allowing the circulation of the blood in the foot  to be cut off.

Perhaps I should stop the cutting off, but I am lazy and this  is an interesting sensation.

Well, it is interesting up until the point where I will need to stand and find myself surprised by the sensation and possibly fall over, or something. Then I will express surprise about why that happened despite knowing full well as to why it happened. However, I’d need to save face, so it would be much better to blame everyone around me, or just express surprise as to why it happened rather than admit to self-defeat. Therefore, if I follow these steps, then surely I will be the one who reigns supreme at the end of the day.

If I admit weakness, then they can attack my weakness. I will have a weak point that will be exploitable and thus if I have a weak point that is exploitable, then anyone can exploit it. I need to overcome this and therefore find the weak point of all the other people, then exploit theirs so I can be at the top of the heap and finally find the thing that is not the thing that I am searching for, but it sis still a thing.

Specifically, it is the the thing that will allow me to rule with an iron fist as I set my chair upon those that have piled up underneath me, scrambling to reach the top but never quite having the guile to get there.

And realistically, whose fault is that? Certainly not mine. They should’ve covered their weakness far better. They should have known. They should have. Pity they didn’t. Pity they thought that all it took was good work and making an honest impression. Little did they know that the needed to weasel their way through the crowds in order to get to the front of the pack and see the openness of everything.

Maybe they realised but dismissed it. Still their fault. If they ain’t gonna be better about it, then far be it for me to tell them why they’ve failed. I’m sure they’ll realise in due time.

Well, maybe they won’t, but that’s not my problem to deal with.

I’ll just remain at the top here and keep making grand, empty gestures and mislead all those underneath me in order to retain my status and have people buy into the idea of respect rather than know what respect is.

So long as they believe it goes two ways, I can milk them for all that they’re worth, sow what does it matter if they go with less whilst I go with more?

Better to have the façade anyway. Means less work, but more work and… well, where I was I going with all of this?

Oh. The moral of the story is that, sometimes you should go sideways.

Well, this somehow went the way it did.

Kind of fast, kind of loose.

Skywrite Past the Tree

A few weeks ago I went for a short walk near home.

Not that unusual, really.

Anyway, I went for a short walk and took some photos, which also is not something worth mentioning.

I mean, if I had taken this photo, there’s no real need to mention that this photo was taken.

So I took this photo as I liked how the branches looked against the sky. I think I was also trying to capture the skywriting line. Not completely sure.

I think that there’s a good contrast between the tree and the sky. The tree is much more rigid in appearance, whereas the sky has more fluidity.

This is my submission into The Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme this week is “Trees“.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week is hosted by Leya and next week’s will be hosted by Amy.

Please check out the challenges and consider submitting and seeing how other people interpret them.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Playing in the Light

Another third of Black Rheno.

I like the way the light pours out and kind of illuminates part of the guitarist.

I also like that it’s clear where the light is being cut.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this one is “The Letter R”.
I’ve included this shot due to it having red hues.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 581: This Rain is Amazing

This rain is amazing.

Plants are all watered so I don’t have to do a damn thing.

I will have to walk through it a bit later, but plants are watered so they’ll be fine for a few days.

The backyard is filling with water, so they’ll be able to go for a swim if they so desire.

Soon I will have to make my way through the rain. Maybe. It’s stopped. Then again, it had stopped earlier, then started again, so who knows what will happen as the day goes on by?

I know that I don’t. I also know that I’m finding it very difficult to write at the moment due to the coldness affecting my hands once more.

I need finger heaters. That would be great. Keep my hands warm for as long as I need them to be warm, then switch the thing off and put my hands in my pockets so I can help keep them warm when they are not in use.

That has nothing to do with the rain, to be fair, but then again not many things of which I “cover” have much to do with the rain, so at least there’s a little bit of consistency here.

Best anyone could hope for at this stage, really.

Anyway, it’s gonna be fun, or something. Rain is one of those things that gets both imprisoning and freeing qualities imposed upon it.

Of course, we all know that rain is something that comes from above us and falls onto surfaces where it then, over many a drop, provides a quality described as wet.

Wet is, of course, not dry. Rain does not dry things. Well, as far as I’m aware it does not dry things. The jury is still out on that one, if I really want it to be.

That said, usually it leads to things becoming wet due to stuff, and other things.

Sometimes when it rains, floods occur. Sometimes floods do not occur. Usually when it does rain, rain falls from clouds that are above us. Usually when it rains, it falls.

Sometimes instead of rain you get no rain. This is known as a time when it is not raining.

Sometimes instead of raining it hails, or snows. Sometimes there are other things to think about and you can all clearly tell that I’m stretching hard.

This is in part due to the cold affecting my hands.

Worse things in life to deal with, however.

Well, I guess I’ll be seeing soon enough if I will have to travel through the rain. MY hopes are that I won’t have to, but there’s only one way to tell, and that is through the process of going outside. Once outside, I will need to move through space in order to go from point A to point B. There may be condensation that I’ll have to deal with, but only time will tell.

Actually, time won’t say a damn thing. It’s quiet today.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:35:01

My hands did eventually warm up, but it took getting to work for that to happen.
Don’t know why I didn’t post this at home. Had the time.

Oh well.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 580: Late in the Afternoon

It is late in the afternoon.

Well, it is late in the afternoon when taking into consideration that daylight savings is not in effect.

Daylight savings is definitely not in effect; well, as of the time of this writing.

It’s been a long day. Call flow is uneven. I have a strong desire to go home and not do a thing. I have a strong desire to make my way away from here and worry not about the rest of the money I’d get from working my shift.

My drawing to near the end of my shift will herald the exiting of the building and into the cold. Hopefully I will soon find myself in a warm area.

A friend of mine came back from a number of months overseas last week. I shall be seeing them. We shall engage in dialogue. We shall eat and drink and be merry, and then I shall make my way home.

I shall walk in the dark upon familiar paths, but only once I’ve caught transport to a suitable location of which I can walk from.

Perhaps I will not walk and instead take public transport the whole way home. It is a little too early to tell at this given stage. Either way, all paths will be familiar. All paths will be ones I’ve travelled far more than I care to try and work out at this given moment.

Then I shall be home. There will be things of which I will need to take care of, but sleep will be imminent. I will lay my head upon a pillow and I shall close my eyes. Hopefully a night of sleep without restlessness will be that which blesses my being, but sleep of an adequate amount would be acceptable.

It’s going to be cold outside, but it’s not something that cannot be dealt with in some way. Had I not the gear to deal with it, I’d probably see if I could stay at work and sleep here instead. It would not be ideal, but then again, it’s better than most options.

Actually, the best option would be to grin and bear it and go home as soon as I could.

Why am I going on about this?

That is a good question that you may or may not be asking yourself. I don’t know unless you tell me if that is what you were thinking.

I do know that right now I am tired and I’ve been procrastinating and I guess this was more interesting when I was writing about more interesting things, but right now I’m trying to express something and get something across, but I’m not entirely sure as to what that thing may just be.

Maybe I’m trying to get the sense of a scene, or something across. Maybe I’m just trying to communicate feeling and atmosphere. Right now it is hard to tell, but of course it’s all open to interpretation when.

Unless, of course, it isn’t.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:24:18

Kind of a bit flat, but this has given me something to work upon.

Waiting for Lights to Change

This was taken on the way to the nearest station after shooting a gig on Friday last week.

An unevenly-lit scene featuring some socialising and a fair number of subjects waiting.

Might be few subjects, depending on what you see in this shot.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 579: More Coffee?

I tell you what; there is nothing quite like feeling like you’ve been punched in the head.

I haven’t been punched in the head, but I certainly feel it. Maybe I need more coffee. Maybe I need more water. Maybe I need to go on a journey and find out where the source of the pain is coming from, then destroy that source with as much viciousness as I can.

That sounds like a rather smashing idea, so instead of doing the sensible thing and hydrating, I’m going to drink more coffee! After all, who needs to look after themselves when they can up their caffeine intake for absolutely no reason?

I’m so full of good ideas that I surprise myself with my genius level of good quality idea generation speeds.

Very hard to keep up with myself, sometimes. Hard to be this revolutionary and not be impressed. A lot of people wouldn’t understand, of course. Maybe one day, after many years of rumination they will be able to come to the understanding that I have long since left in the past. Maybe. There’s always hope, of course.

The one problem with getting more caffeine into my system is that I need to leave this building. I am feeling pretty comfortable where I am and thus I do not want to move around too much. Now I am faced with a dilemma.

Do I get up and abandon my comfortable seat in order to quench my desires, or do I sit here until I need to go elsewhere?

Maybe I should go with the hydration with the liquid known as water.

That poses its own problems, however. I would need to reach under this desk and to my bag where my bottle sits. Then I would have to drink from it. There is no caffeine in that water, so I cannot further my addiction to caffeine. I would diminish this headache, but I would also be taking a more sensible, responsible option and that is something that I am hoping to avoid with as much desperation as possible.

This is a dire situation. I really need to work out what to do.

I could go for both and then aim for the best of both worlds, but that would require even more effort and that is something that I want to avoid even more than being responsible.

I think that… I am leading myself into a circle that I shall not escape.

I am going to have to get up from here sooner or later.

There must be other options. There must be other ways. Maybe I can get someone to bring the coffee to me and I can keep sitting here. Maybe I could get said person to grab my water bottle for me and thus I save on an insignificant amount of energy.

Maybe I should get to studying.

I guess I should go for the water and think about coffee later. I do this unwillingly, of course.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:47:96

Kind of slow, kind of fast.
A silly little bit of text that I’m pretty happy with; at least, for the time being that is.
