Five-Hundred Word Challenge 577: Weird Arm Feeling and Other Stuff

I can feel my arms moving.

Last night they felt weird after seeing an image where someone’s arms stretched out for far further than they should be able to.

Wait. It was a .gif.

Anyway…

It was not a pleasant feeling. Now I am here and my arms feel fine, but last night they felt weird after seeing what should be an impossible stretch.

What was I to do, other than not combat this feeling and let it be experienced so that in order to combat it the next time it is felt, I can know what I am doing?

This is the question of the day. Not “How may I help  you?”. That is the question of the century.

There are other things to consider that would help answer this question. The main thing is to first consider that I am listening to something that sounds a little more like classic metal in places, and then more like something more modern in other places.

This is, of course, for reviewing purposes only, but I must admit that it is kind of fun, even if it is something that I will be unlikely to return to at some point in the future.

Guess it’s time to switch it up and find a different beat to groove on before I embrace what my process of work is today. That process is, of course, working on the phones to take the calls and blah blah blah.

Need to get my arms to feel more normal and less weird. Wait. They do feel normal. Now I feel weird.

Gotta work out what it is that I’m trying to cover with whatever it is that I’m saying instead of meandering and looking… looking into a distance that is not mine to look down into.

Maybe I’ll make a surprise visit to somewhere later on in the day. Visit some people, say hello to them, then disappear and go off to another location. Gotta do all of that, maybe.

Maybe I just need to look for my own horizon and walk on home at some stage. Maybe I just need to get home instead of saying stuff here.

Maybe I need to go home before the shift starts. It’s not too late to call in sick, as far as I’m aware. There’s still a few more minutes before it all begins.

Yep. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to call in sick. You should to.

Actually, you should be more responsible than I am saying you should be. Don’t be lazy. Work hard. Work on working toward your goals. Learn when to compromise, but make sure that your focus is clear. Work hard, be good to the environment and those around you, but especially the environment as it is key to our survival.

Respect the earth. work toward your goals, know when to fold them and definitely do not call in sick a few minutes before you start your shift, whilst at work.

Probably could’ve gone deeper on stuff.

Need to be writing more, I think.

Maybe less.

Kiama Blowhole

One of the two blowholes at Kiama.

This is the larger one.

Given the right weather and tide level, this is something that becomes pretty powerful and “Wild“.

I think that this photo gives a bit of an idea of that power.

I like that it almost appears as though the spray has wings.

This is my submission into The Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week is hosted by Tina and next week’s will be hosted by Patti.

Please check out the challenges and consider submitting and seeing how other people interpret them.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Boomerang Beach

A shot from the most recent field trip.

You can see how massive the waves are compared to everything else.
It’s a large beach, so I think that in this shot large waves are appropriate.

I didn’t have the filter I was using set properly, which is why part of the image looks the way it does.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this one is “Ocean”.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 576: Chosen to Raise

Floating desks are awesome, but that is not what I am looking to explore in this text that features no tethered mice.

Mice that are tethered are the ones that we use every day, but we need to think about how many clicks it takes for them to rebel against their creators. Eventually we all must rebel, but soon enough is never soon enough, unless it is instant, but then again that seldom is soon enough. It’s like saying the red on my hand is a form of paint that glistens under the lowest conditions of light.

Well, that’s not like saying that at all, but I hope you get the gist of what I am saying, because I don’t unless I do, in which case then both of us could get it, or not, or maybe yes and no.

There are so many options to consider here and the only way to get to the bottle that is on my desk is via the form of art that involves manipulating the muscles that are attached to the bone in my arm in order to move my arm to the bottle. Then I need to manipulate the fingers in order to be able to grasp the bottle.

There’s a lot to consider, but I’m sure that with enough training and perseverance I’ll be able to succeed where others have failed.

Perhaps this is why I am standing here at this very moment.

Well, that and… well, no. that’s not why I am standing at this very moment.

I am standing as I have chosen to raise from my seat and be upright on my feet in order to get a better view of my surroundings, yet it’s all still office and thus I’m not really seeing anything worthwhile at the moment.

Maybe all that had worth left a while ago, and now all I’m seeing is worth less than that which is worth more.

Difficult to say, but then again so long as my eyes aren’t snakes then I should be able to get as far to be as ever been before but neither toward the absolute of there to be as far been to go as far beyond that which is near.

That is, of course, assuming that if there was is now then, then that shall not be there, but rather here if there is no way to tell, but you know that if the thing that is is not, then it is not what is and thus to go farther and more to the left of the closeness of the right, only time will tell which side shall push forward. Of course, it all boils down to progress and knowledge, but so long as there is and people keep saying there isn’t, then we will progressively move more toward being isn’t than being is. Therefore we need to begin accepting what is rather than denying, for all the info we need is out there. So stop denying.

Eves The Behavior: Eves The Behavior Review

The eighth review I wrote for Cool Try.

I can remember listening to this EP on the way to work when I was working in St Leonards.

A few months ago I went back to it and listened to it for a few seconds. Just a bit of a skip through.

Parts of the EP have occasionally popped back into my head since writing the review; hence my going back to have a quick listen.

To me this review reads more like a series of initial points to flesh out.

Oh well.

My colleague and I are working on growing Culture Eater so we can have more things covered whilst taking the pressure of continually putting out content off of ourselves. Hence our going onto Patreon.

We’re looking at what we can give to supporters as we don’t want to set up a one way relationship, so suggestions are welcome. Please consider supporting, or at least sharing the Patreon page with others.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Eves The Behavior has recently released Eves The Behavior.
So… here’s the review.

“TV”, “Electrical”, and “Digging” all are quite lush and relaxing, having a mostly low-key sound. Whilst they mostly move through verse/chorus/verse, they don’t feel as though they peak at any particular point, keeping the mood consistent and as a result they flow with a good deal of ease.

There are points where this does change slightly (The partially spoken sections of “TV” and “Digging” being the most obvious). However, they are long enough to add something extra without becoming overwhelming.

The remix of “TV” is neither here nor there.
It sounds alright but it sounds more as though it was intentionally designed to be club friendly rather than a reinterpretation of the song.
This isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
However, it doesn’t feel as though it belongs here and comes off as filler as a result.

The vocals, whilst confident, are much more subdued than they could have been.
This is beneficial as they aren’t overpowering everything and as they’re based around lyrics that aren’t cheesy or awkward, they compliment the songs quite well.

Eves The Behavior is okay.
It sounds as though there was a desire to experiment but this was held back on.
Aside from a few small moments, this results in a straightforward pop affair.
However, it does show promise for the young artist.
The songs are well-written and they work as an introduction.
It will be interesting to see what direction(s) are taken from here.

Singer Under Light

A shot of one of the members of Crooked Colours.

This was shot for Culture Eater.

You can find the gallery here.
The review of the show is here.
Our Patreon is here.

When I shot this gig I only had one lens to work with.

The same with Bongzilla, but there wasn’t as large of a stage at that gig.

I was more limited than, in hindsight I w0uld have liked, but I think some of the shots turned out okay, such as this one.

The light helps to bring focus to the person in the shot, but a number of their features are left to the imagination, I think.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 575: More Aimless Writing

Well, it’s been a lazy day and I have a very small window before I need to head off to do stuff, which means I have a very small window to get some reviews written.

What is this going to be about, then?

It can be about whatever you want it to be, or whatever my mind will make it be about. One or the other, really. Or neither, or both at once, or both alternating between each other so fast that there’s no way to tell as to where the subpar text is aiming and anyone could be next!

Or anything, really.

That is all to say that it is cold, my fingers are having trouble handling the cold whilst also writing and my back hurts as I’m not doing proper posture right now, thus something something and so on and so forth.

Maybe I should get up and hang out the washing. It’s only been many hours since the last load finished and it needs to go outside and get, at the very least, some air and sunshine before it gets cold again.

Maybe there are a lot of things that I should do, but procrastinating is not one of them and the same goes for you.

We should all be working on something productive at this current time. It may be cold, sure, but there is still a day tucked away in the remaining daylight hours. That is why we should all be ding something more productive.

Still wish my hands were warmer though. Can’t type on this keyboard efficiently whilst wearing gloves, but can’t type efficiently whilst not wearing gloves. It’s all fun and games, but right now it’s all cold and clams.

But soon! Soon it will be something else entirely, for there is still a day. There is a bit of light filtering into this bedroom and I am gearing up to get stuff done. I just need to do it, of course. Only a few hours remain before I will head out and the day will be lost, but the night will have begun and then there will be a small amount of hours of that that exist before I need to get some sleep before I wake up once more and go to work and go on and on and on…

I really need to start getting some stuff done today. I can do it. Just need to work on doing it. Need to have some music that’ll get me moving and grooving into the swing of things. That’ll help somehow.

What will also help will be focusing and doing the things that I need to do rather than talk about focusing and doing the things that I need to do.

I’m sure that eventually I will get there. My hands will warm up under their own power and then it will be my time to shine.

Well, instead of shine it’ll just be knuckling down and finishing a bunch of things.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:21:12

Realistically I should’ve started doing stuff seven hours ago.

Oh well.

Written at home.

Light From the Back

A really lucky shot taken during the Bongzilla gig.

I think both the angle of the body and the light work really well in tandem with each other.

There’s a kind of continuation, albeit in a switching form.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Wednesday” for this week.
Leanne recently resumed having a focused day for monochrome photography and is inviting people to participate.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Low Tide Sunrise

Not that high tide made much of a difference at this part of Smiths Lake.

Now that I think about it, maybe it was high tide.

Anyway, behold: A photo of Smiths Lake (a part I’ve shot a few times) during sunrise.

The “Reflection” of the land kind of appears scratched in a way.

I like that it shows the water as not quite being still, and that the reflection is like an ambiguous shape rather than a clear reflection of the land.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this one is “Reflections”.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Listener: Being Empty : Being Filled Review

The last few days have been slow and now I’m catching up on stuff, so here’s another review written for Cool Try.

I think this review is a little awkward in places.
It also needed expansion in places.

The only change made for sharing here is adding a word to one of the sentences so the sentence reads properly.

Listener. Listening. Listened. Album review for the album that Listener released earlier this year. Title of the album is Being Empty : Being Filled.

Often there is some intensity in the voice delivering the words to your ears. There are moments where the delivery relaxes. Most of the time the spoken word matches the music. Sometimes this falters. This occurs when there’s a little too much crammed into a small space. Otherwise the spoken word take combined with punk / hardcore music works really well.

Poetic seemed to be the lyrical style in mind. They instead come off as pretentious and angsty. There’s a number of good lines matched with a number of cringe-worthy lines. The lyrics might just be the weakest part of the album. However, this is when taken alone. Conversely they work incredibly well. The lyrics fit well for both the delivery and the music.

The music is punchy and soft when required. It matches the lyrics well whilst existing as its own thing. As the vocals focus on spoken word, the music didn’t need to be as prominent an element. Instead of being backing accompaniment, the music is a strong driving force. It provides strong frames through a tight performance. Vocal power matches musical energy and the two disparate elements come together to form a cohesive whole.

Spoken word didn’t need to be the choice for lyrical style and delivery for Being Empty : Being Filled. Rare is the delivery so openly and wholeheartedly used for this kind of music. Listener embrace spoken word and do it well. The vocals are prominent but they are not the sole driving force. There’s a balance struck between the vocals and music. At times it falters, but the album stays consistent. More importantly, despite the flaws the album is really solid and enjoyable.

You can find Listener’s new album here.
