Small Building and Massive Clouds

I can’t remember where in Melbourne I was when I took this photo.

I’m sure that if I go through all the photos I took whilst in Melbourne I’d find where I was.

I think this photo is mostly about  texture.

Texture of the light and shade, texture of the clouds, texture of the building.

I like how massive the clouds feel.
It helps give the photo a sense of “wonder“, I think.

I also think that despite the hardness of the light levels on the building, the building does not appear hard, so to speak.

This is my submission into the first Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

In the wake of The Daily Post‘s photo challenge a few people have banded together to keep the weekly challenges going. The one that I’m following will be hosted by these four in alternating cycles:

Week 1 – Patti of https://pilotfishblog.com/

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya of https://lagottocattleya.wordpress.com/

Week 3 – Amy of https://shareandconnect.wordpress.com/

Week 4 – Tina of https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/

I suggest following and considering participating, but also seeing how other people have responded to the photo challenge from The Daily Post ending.

Anyway, I hope you  enjoy.

In Space Fighting Dream

I was in space fighting Chariman Drek, I think. They fight may have already been over by the point I was brought into being aware in my dream.

Anyway, Chairman Drek did his speech about making money by continually building new planets, although it was slightly different than how it is said but I can’t remember how.

Something happened that I cannot remember, then myself (and some others) were fighting the alien snapper queen. There were four platforms in this massive room and the queen could jump around them to reach a target, but I had a sniper rifle (I think) and could hide and shoot at it from a distance. Its legs were made up of creatures that were shaped like medicine capsules and they glowed. I think.

Anyway, something happened, then I was in some room after the events. I was there with a few others. Something happened. Two people had this thing happening to them where their skin was beginning to look like bark with some aqua / turquoise-coloured lichen on it, and some had it flaking off. This was also happening to me. One person’s foot and part of their leg (I think it was the right one) had flaked off and there was a bare branch underneath.

There was something that we had to do before this thing that was happening completely affected us. I think it involved obtaining a cure of sorts.

Then I woke up.

Rail Curve

Second evening of being in Melbourne.

This is a fairly simply scene. The lights dominate the photo, revealing various levels of details and varying patterns in structures.

People make their way to various destinations in the cold night whilst vehicles make their away around the roads.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 472: Such a Drag

Walking is such a drag, but when you’re dragging all that which you’ve left behind, then it’s more of a slide, of sorts.

Where is this going? I don’t know, I’m just here to let you know.

So sliding. Sliding is a thing. Sometimes you slide on your feet as they lead you to somewhere that may or may not have been intended as the goal of which you were trying to reach through the process of the motion of moving forward by manipulating muscles in your body by sending signals from your brain through to the muscles that you need to manipulate in order to get the motion of forward movement occurring in your life in order to move forward to whatever it was that you were trying to reach in a forward-moving manner.

Of course, this is all based around the idea that you are trying to reach somewhere. you may not. You may instead be trying top sit down and not go anywhere, but why would you want to do that when your chair does not have wheels and in fact does not exist, and you’re somewhere out in the middle of “nowhere”? You’d probably best be serving yourself by getting out of dodge as quickly as possible, unless there is nothing to dodge, in which case take your time so long as your supplies are sufficient for the journey ahead.

If they are not, then I would suggest moving a little faster than usual. The sun is still out, there’s more than enough hours before sundown and you could quite easily get to a train station, then sit down and let the vehicle of transportation do all the work for you as you rest and read (potentially) whilst scenery of varying style rushes past as you rush past in a vehicle that carries you in its frame, making sure that you get to wherever it is that you want to get as soon as possible, assuming that you are indeed trying to get somewhere. You may not be trying to get somewhere at all and merely be riding the train, but so long as you are on the train, the train does the movement for you at a fast pace, unless it is a day where the train operates at a slow pace, in which case, something something and so on and so forth.

Now this poses a question, but the question does not pose itself for it does not care for such flagrant displays of ego and ego.

Of course, when this is something that occurs we need to consider the alternatives, which would involve thinking and sitting in a room with other people who are also thinking in the hope that some sort of conclusive action can be reached, but seeing as it’s Monday, this is something will not occur today as there are other things to worry about, such as which leg goes into which leg of the pants, assuming one doesn’t know.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:35:64

There’s some intense drill action going on downstairs and it’s making me wonder if I should have used that as influence for writing this morning.

Written at work.

Sparrow Sits on Bench

Whilst wandering around Melbourne I saw this Sparrow having a brief rest.

I like how it is perched on one of the bars of the bench, and like the way the droplets of water are hanging from the bench.

I think that the sparrow looks to be figuring out as to where it will next go.

I hope you enjoy.

Luna Park Noise Issues

I’ll try to keep the details of this one brief before I go on a bit of a tangent.

Luna Park in Sydney had a ruling against them regarding installing a new ride that would be part of a family-oriented zone that was (or is) to appeal to families with young children.

The ruling has the proviso that when the Luna Park organisation wants to build or move a new ride, they need to put forward a development proposal which means that noise concerns must be taken into consideration.

I don’t necessarily disagree with this as when a development occurs, noise levels do need to be addressed. What bothers me with this is that it opens Luna Park to noise complaints that could lead to lengthy battles and fines due to residents complaining.

Likely it wouldn’t be existing residents, but new ones who would move into the area and start complaining about any perceivable noise. Residents who decide that the best thing to do is move into an area without doing their research, then complaining about an existing venue because despite their failings, it’s not their fault and they’ve deigned to put up with an establishment that may make a level of noise that said residents may deem unacceptable, therefore it is their civic duty to complain and do their best to make sure the venue reaps the consequences of its lack of responsibility. If it closes down, that is unfortunate, but at least the new residents did the right thing.

I’m probably expecting the worst out of this, but far too often Sydney has seen a bunch of people move into an area with long-established venues and make noise complaints which eventually leads to the closure of the venues. You want to move into an area that doesn’t have these things, then do your research and move to an area that doesn’t have these things.

I don’t understand this mentality. I don’t understand as to why people would move into an area with an longstanding establishments and decide it would be a good idea to do their to get the establishments to bend. The only thing that I can come up with is that there are some people out there who think that the best course of action to take is to stroke their own seriously oversized sense of entitlement.

Some people will get angry and do little, some will say “We’ve got it better than most places”, and this laissez-faire attitude is part of the problem.
Sometimes it is overridden, but often it is not.

The more often we go “I’m angry, but oh well”, the more we lose stuff that has helped to give Sydney an identity. The more we say “We’ve got it better than most places”, the more we let things that matter get removed. These stances are unacceptable. There is significant room for improvement and letting things go by the wayside by covering our ears and eyes and screaming is the wrong way to go about things.

Change is inevitable, but there is no reason as to why we should see venues of all sorts closed down because people who didn’t do their research or cared enough to accept something that likely has a positive impact has been around in an area for a significantly longer period of time than they have were given a voice to complain about noise levels. Noise levels which apparently didn’t bother long time residents enough for them to care about.

I’m probably overreacting to this, but there’s no reason as to why anyone should consider this kind of crap acceptable on any level.

Leaving the Tram

This was taken shortly after arriving at Southern Cross Station.

This image shows people departing from a tram.

As you can see, the motion that they make with their legs suggests movement in a direction through the medium of walking.

Some of these people are using the medium in order to retreat from the interior of their captor, whereas others are using the medium to retreat into the interior of their soon-to-be captor.

A simply scene of street photography, I guess.

I hope you enjoy.

Rant About Something Said at University

So I’m back at university which is fun.

Well, aside from the starting to stress when I was going online to access course stuff which seemed to be more of an indicator to stop and get out of there, being back at uni is fun.

Wait. No, it’s not.

So university is a thing that I need to tackle with and that’s okay, but there’s something that absolutely pisses me off to no end. I probably am overreacting a bit, but when the following happens I can’t help but get angry, which is on me.

I was at university yesterday and saw one of my current course coordinators.

I’ve known this one for a few years as I’ve had them before. I told them that I was in one of their subjects this semester, they asked about Thursday’s lecture and I told them I wasn’t there as I had to work, which I did. They then told me that I need to prioritise study over work.

This kind of attitude makes me irate. It’s not the first time I’ve had it, but it’s the first time that I’ve gotten it from someone else who had to work to keep a roof over the head and be able to eat whilst they were studying.

Ir makes me irate as both times it has been used, it discounts the whole concept of survival. Plenty of people prioritise study, but not everyone can. I know that this is a controversial idea, but there are some people who need to prioritise work over education as they would rather make sure that they can survive rather than go without in order to potentially pass a subject.

Now this is not anyone’s problem but mine, but still, I hate the suggestion that this whole “prioritise study over work” makes. It seems to imply that no one is poor. I grew up poor still kind of am poor, but I’m doing well enough. I still need to work a certain amount of hours each week to get by and despite what those in higher positions may believe, my survival comes before my education.

At this point it feels like an empty rant, but it really pisses me off. It feels like there’s a detachment from reality. Not everyone can afford to get by without having to worry much (if at all) about their financial stability. Education, whilst being something big in their life isn’t as important as their ability to get by.

Life isn’t fair and ultimately you have to work with the hand you’re dealt with, blah blah blah, but I have a feeling that it’s stupid crap like this that gets said that ends up being added as unnecessary pressure to some students.

End rant.

City Masts

Fourth day of being in Melbourne.

My partner and I went to St. Kilda.
It’s something I almost always do when I’m in Melbourne.

Walked along a wharf, looked at stuff, blah blah blah.

Anyway, this photo.

Not sure as to what I was going for.

I think that I liked the way the buildings and the masts seemed to compliment each other.

To me they blend really well.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 471: What a Wonderful Day

What a wonderful day!

how many times have I used that as a start to a post on this very small space swirling around in the Internet abyss?

I’m not sure, so I’m not going to try and find out.

Once more, the lab in the room of the computer room with the computers and the lab stuff is quiet. There is no one in here and that suits me just fine.

It’s quiet, I get to relax and take care of things that I should probably not be focusing on at the moment, but that’s okay as for the first time in a while I am wearing a Hawaiian shirt and I’m having a good time, of sorts.

Well, if one considers a good time to be sitting down and doing very little, then a good time is what I am currently having and currently having it well is what I am currently doing.

So much to do, very little to see. well, there’s a lot to see and a lot to do, but not all at once, although perhaps it will be, or something somehow and somewhere.

So I’m here, I am present, I am ready and I am getting a bit of typing under the proverbial belt, as it were, for right now I am typing and very soon I will be working on the things hat I need to write at the current moment, for there is also a lot to write and I don’t know where this is going anymore.

I do know that, for some reason my arms seem to clash with the desk and the keyboard, colour-wise.

Probably not something that I needed to notice at this present stage, but sometimes you notice these things.

Not all the time. Only some of the time.

If I noticed this all of the time then I’d probably believe that I’m am worrying and focusing on the wrong things in life, unless somehow I had a career out of that, in which case it would be all good, as they say.

Perhaps I can make a career out of this, get famous somehow and then be rich and famous for doing very little with my life, therefore opening up time and space to do other things with my life that matter more to me.

Well, we can all dream, but right now reality is where I am firmly grounded and reality is where I shall firmly stay, at least for the time being.

But still, the dreams are carrying me somewhere and so long as I keep being carried then the world underneath me shall be viewable and the air that is carrying me, along with the dreams that are carrying me shall serve as my viewing platform. there are some really great views out there. This is something that I cannot deny. However, when you’re all the way up here with the world floating on beneath you, then your view is pretty hard to beat.
