Careful Cleaning

I’m pretty sure that the ibis was cleaning itself.

I like the form and how odd and yet natural the ibis looks in this photo.

I think that there’s a fair bit of detail where necessary and I like the soft, layered pattern of the feathers.

I hope you enjoy.

Horse-fly

Here’s something I saw whilst I was last at Smiths Lake.

It’s a horse-fly in a puddle.

I like the way that it affects the water with movement, as well as the patterns that occur.

I also like how it contrasts with the water.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 398: Orange Fish

Once upon a time there was an orange fish that was walking around, minding it’s own business, as it would, as there was nothing else to do. It wanted to be left alone for a little while, bot due to its lack of love of the company of the other creatures, but due to it just wanting to be left alone.

Suddenly, whilst it was minding its own business on that particular day, a large rift in the fabric of time and space opened up in front of the fish, leading to something that was as unknown as it was unknowable.

Luckily enough, the fish was an expert sewer of fabrics, and knew exactly what to do when it came to this situation.

It casually sauntered on home and got its kit and then went back to the hole and got back to work.

The work was long and arduous, but stitch by stitch the fish sewed up the hole and then the fabric was once again, whole.

This was not too difficult, for the fish had long and extensive experience when it came to patching holes to make things whole once more. This was really just something that was routine in its life.

A few days passed, then a few weeks. Nothing was changed and the world was at peace. The fish was wandering about, away from people once more. It had thought about the hole and what was beyond the impenetrable unknowing that it presented.

As the time passed, so did the desire of the fish.

It knew where the hole once was and it knew how to get it open once more, but it was not sure if it should give in to its curiosity.

And yet, the curiosity would only increase. It would not abate and despite the desires of the fish, it knew that perhaps one day its mind would be made and its mind would tell it to open the hole and go through.

There was an inherent risk of not knowing as to what could happen, as that was indeed the very risk.

Would the hole increase in size? Would the fish make it out alive?

Despite the risk and the danger, the fish grew ever closer to a decision that it would make.

One day, whilst minding its own business, the fish set out for where the hole was once located.

With its sewing kit, it carefully opened the stitching that it applied and opened the hole by only a slight amount.

There didn’t seem to be much that could be discerned, so the fish opened it by only a slight bit more.

It was just enough for the fish to get through.

It looked around and considered its options at this point. However, the decision was as inevitable as the desire to see something unknowable.

Carrying its sewing kit, the fish made the last decision that it could make to resolve this situation.

Through the hole it went, into the unknowable.

Not sure about the quality, but at least this one is a bit more consistent.

Still an improvement.

Illuminating Flames, Releasing Sparks

It is fire.

Fire does stuff.

Here are some photos of fire doing things.

Fire is something that seems to be very attractive to people.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 397: Once More, Another Idea Hunt

This morning I went on a hunt to find something new to review, but it was an arduous task.

well, I was going tow rite about it and draw it out as much as I could, but it was more just a bit of time that I had to spend in order to find something, and now I don’t feel as though I could draw it out long enough in order to make up enough words to get this completed at the five-hundred word mark.

So now I’m trying to think of something else that I can write about, but again it is one of those days where I think I am struggling, so I need to think of something before I run out of words, otherwise I will have run out of words to use to write about the thing that I want to write about, and that would be a bit of a shame, if you ask me.

Then again, it probably would not be much of a shame.

There’s a bit of a dilemma in this situation. I could continue on as I am going at this current moment, but that may not make for something wroth reading. I could try and come up with something, but the same situation applies. Perhaps I should just let my hands take over and let them guide the direction of this text, leading into something else entirely.

Then again, it is a little cold, so letting the hands take over may not be as beneficial as it could be, as it could lead to the text becoming sloppier than usual.

Perhaps I should clean out the cup that has been sitting on my desk for a couple of days. It probably needs a good clean at this stage.

Perhaps I should actually begin writing about how my day will go today.

Today my day will go well. I hope. There will be things that I need to do, but outside of those things, the day will go well. This is what I believe and believe it I will.

Well, that’s now tapped out.

What else can I write about?

There was once a horse that I knew about that did a thing and when it did the thing it lead to some sort of reaction from a person who may or may not have been watching the horse do the thing.

Well, that one is now also done.

This is like pulling teeth, except I’m exaggerating the difficulty of the situation far more than I should.

Instead it is more like doing other things that need to be done.

No, it’s not like much at all.

Well, this is all a bit of a funk that I’m grinding myself into with this one, so perhaps I should just wrap it all up and get back to doing other things, such as getting ready for the day that lies ahead of me, as there is plenty of living to do today.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:38:00

Despite meandering, still a better improvement.

Still could be better.

Written at home.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 396: Should be Studying

There something interesting about studying for a test, and that is the complete and utter lack of studying for a test.

that is what I am thinking, for I have a test in a little over two hours and I find it interesting that I am not studying for it whatsoever.

Perhaps I ma just that confident in my ability to pass.

Either that, or I just don’t care right now.

Perhaps it is a mixture of both.

I do know that I have not had enough sleep and have not had enough food to ensure that I do not go hungry during the test, but that is a story for another day, now that I think about it.

There are more important things to worry about right now, such as looking for a new place to live, or getting toward a destination that will lead me somewhere else other than where I currently am situated.

There are plenty of things in which I need to worry about, such as where the clouds are going, or how the flower blowing in the wind will be carried upon another path in order to fly away from where it happens to be located, again and again.

Yes, these are the things in which I need to throw my worry behind and they will see the worry increase tenfold if they are not found to have a solution suitable to the situation at hand.

Still, there are other things to worry about that are more grounded in the present, such as my studying for a test that I have no interest in, as that is something that I need to take care of sooner rather than later.

I don’t know. I would rather be doing other things right now.

why did I curse myself with this intense, grievous burden that is now upon my shoulders? Why didn’t I do something else, such as get really rich through majesty and the unexplained, then retire and spend the rest of my days roaming the earth, seeing what I can find out there in order to learn?

That is indeed the life that I should be living. Not one where I pursue my current goals in order to find some sort of conclusion that will put me into a position where I will be doing the things that I want to do!

Oh, this was all a horrible idea. One day I will be doing more and find myself losing myself in the moments that come into my life, as I slowly progress toward doing more and more of what I want to do with my life, and that is not a way to live!
No, the only way to live is through being rich and just travelling all the time, but only really seeing the sights and not the actual lands.

That is the true way to live, and verily so indeed!

Perhaps one day I will get there, but today is not that day.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:20:79

Not a bad speed for the coherence, I think.

To be fair, I would like to be able to roam the earth, but perhaps doing something as part of my career instead of just roaming.

Perhaps.

Woman Turns Away From the City

At times, a “Favorite Place” of mine to be is somewhere within the city.

It’s not often, but sometimes I enjoy walking around and exploring it to see if I find something interesting that I knew not of beforehand, or to see if there is anything that catches my eye that I would like to photograph, such as this scene.

This is another shot taken at Darling Harbour.

I wonder if I’m creating my own narrative with the title. I do remember the woman in the photo turning, but I can’t remember if she was looking toward the buildings, or if she was looking at something else beforehand.

Oh well.

this is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 395: It Goes a Little Like This

Alright, so I’m going to tell you all about a little story.

wait… tell you all about a story?

I’m going to tell you all a story.

It goes a little like this:

Well, actually, it goes a lot like the way that I’m going to say it, as that is the way the story is told.

well, told from my point of view.

Who is to say that from someone else it wouldn’t go a little differently?

There is every possibility that it would. Such is the way of the oral narrative as it is passed down form person to person, although this is a written narrative and I do not know if I have unique enough of a voice to give it my own spin. I’m sure that there would be some way that it would go differently when written by someone else compared to me, but I imagine that my own account of this story would be very similar to plenty someone else’s version as I’m fairly certain that my voice lacks the strength and integrity to give it the clout that it needs in order to make sure that what you are reading is something that is written in a way that you may have not read before.

I think that makes sense.

Then again, I think a lot of things.

A lot of things I think in order to get to a story that will be written down that goes a little something like the way that I will tell it, but it may lose all of its narrative cohesion that allows it to be a story and will probably end up some garbled mess that cannot be easily understood.

I think.

I think that perhaps I am overthinking the whole thing and instead I need to work toward making sure that the story that I provide will be something that goes a little similarly to the way that it was originally written, if it ever was written at all.

I think.

I think that I am also trying to take up time in order to improve my writing whilst dealing with things at the same time, such as trying to get the words down and trying to make sure that this is coherent.

I think that I need to give up giving up coffee.

If I do truly think that, then perhaps that can come some other day. Right now is not the time. It is far too late in the day for me to have a coffee without having some effects that I do not want to deal with, such as the significant amount of being awake that I would have to endure for a few hours before inevitably crashing down.

Perhaps.

so anyway, I have a story, I’m going to tell the story and the story will be told through the medium of text in order to let you read and visualise the images conjured by the text.

It goes like this…

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:49:73

the actual intent was to rant, but then instead I decided to try and write a story which lead to this meandering tangent.

Wonderfully bloated.

Dancing

The other week I was walking through Centennial Parklands in order to take photos in order to work on an assignment for one of my subjects (one of the few times where photography will serve a major purpose in one of my assignments during my university study career) when I saw this occurring.

I took many photos and this is probably one of the better ones.

There’s a lot of power and grace in this, as well as a kind of intensity that you don’t always get to see.

This is my entry into Leanne Cole’s Monochrome Madness for this week.

I recommend checking it out and considering submitting if you are a photographer.
It’s a fun event driven both by Leanne Cole and the small community that participates.

I also recommend that you check out Leanne Cole‘s work outside of Monochrome Madness.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Wings

In my opinion, an interesting form of the wings in which they are viewed in this image.

I like the way the feathers and the wings are positioned whilst the gull seems like it is not going to be taking off.

There’s a nice angularity to them.

I hope you enjoy.
