Morning Swim

Ewe and I went for our first early morning swim at a beach since the last time we went for an early morning swim at a beach.

The last time was earlier in the year.

It was a nice view.

I like how calm and low in colour this photo is, as it makes it feel more like the place is still waking up.

Could be a better beach, but it is still a nice view (to me).

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 316: Stuff, at Home Because Other Stuff

Back in the world, here I am sitting, listening to lecture content in order to expand the knowledge in my mind.

I am sitting here instead of at uni as I could not handle going into uni today.

Such is the way of things.

Procrastination has taken over and I am sitting here, not doing very much.

Still, I am listening to a lecture and that is sort of an achievement.

Well, it’s not. It is an obligation.

Well, it’s not an obligation unless I want to do well.

The weather could be much better outside, but I’m also a little happy that it is not better than it currently is as I’d much prefer a cooler temperature right now.

I have very little to write about right now, but I still need to write. For me, that is an obligation as it means that perhaps something of quality may come from my mind and it also means that if something of quality comes out of my mind and is recorded for everyone to view, then it means that those who are reading said possible quality piece of writing will be able to read the writing and think to themselves “that was a really good piece of writing due to X, Y and Z, leading it to be some sort of quality piece of writing and I am glad and possibly entertained by the writing that I have managed to engage with”.

However, the chances of that happening are very low, but at least the bar is not impossibly high.

I really should be doing stuff right now, but I cannot be stuffed.

I think I ned to make sure that I go to sleep at an earlier hour instead of some point close to midnight just because I was too lazy to go to sleep earlier.

I think that I need to exercise more.

I think that I am probably thinking about what I am thinking about a little too much.

As we can all see, it does work as a way to fill the space that is left in the remaining amount of words that I am trying to get out and this sentence doesn’t make the best of sense.

Well, it’s not so much the sense that it doesn’t make that is the issue. The issue is that it could have better phrasing.

I should probably work on my phrasing.

That is something that could be worked upon.

Well, here I am right now, sitting and trying to think of something to write about even though I am running out of the space that I am using as once again I am timing myself to see if I can get the words done in an amount of time.

Wait a minute. I could write about the bus system. I could write about that.

I could go on a rant. That’s something I haven’t done for at least twenty-five minutes.

Done. That is what I will write about.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:17:89

I’m feeling rather tired at the moment because I stayed up late and woke up early.

Next time I shall go to sleep earlier.

Or something.

I need to make sure that I don’t burn out.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 315: A Paradise for Dogs that Happen to be Hot

Under the sea exists some sort of fragrant paradise that only dogs that happen to be hot can enter and visit.

However, as these particular dogs who happen to be hot can attest, these dogs are unable to dive far enough under the water to be able to enter said paradise.

Obviously this causes all sorts of problems.

Thankfully these particular dogs happen to be good at digging, so one method of entering this place that which only they and no other kind of being in existence, alive or automated, can enter is by digging a very long tunnel that somehow manages to retain all structural integrity despite the depth and length at which is must be dug in order to enter this fragrant paradise, then going through the tunnel after is has been dug and entering the paradise which just so happens to be fragrant, and verily so.

Of course it would take a long time to tunnel the whole way to this paradise that featured fragrances so fragrant that they were fragrantly fragrant.

Of course it would not only take a very long time, but the amount of time that would pass during the completion of this tunnel that was also very long would be a large amount of time.

However, these particular dogs were good at tunneling and enjoyed the act of creating tunnels, so therefore the amount o time that passed was somewhat irrelevant as they enjoyed their time and it did not feel like a very long time to them, so therefore that was a good thing for the dogs.

What would they do once they were in this paradise?

What would they find that they could do?

Well, there were a lot of things that they could smell, for it was a fragrant place, full of fragrance and other things that generally smell good.

There were flowers.

There were… thigns that were not flowers.

There may have been other dogs.

It is hard to know. Who could say?

Only the dogs themselves that were there could say what there was in this fragrant paradise of many pleasing odours.

Of course, if there were plenty of things, the dogs would not be able to tell us as dogs usually do not speak in human tongues, therefore leading to a slight language barrier between human and dog.

The other issue is that only dogs who are a particular kind of hot can enter.
Therefore, not any dog can enter.

There’s probably some grass in this underwater paradise.

There’s also probably some sort of tree and some other things that are not trees.

Who knows what the dogs will discover once they get in there?

Only the dogs will be able to find out. They know how to get there and they have a plan set out. They just need to begin the execution of said plan so that they can enter this paradise that is underwater and full of fragrances that can be described as fragrant.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:46:86

Sometimes I really wonder if something like this is the best that I can do.

Yet Another Sydney Cityscape

Yesterday morning I was trying to get a good long exposure of the area in this photo and all the the shots that I took did not turn out well.

This shot which was taken before the long exposure attempts was the best shot of the C.B.D from the photos that I took yesterday.

Still not a fan of the city, but I do like the way that it cuts into the overcast sky.

I also like the way that the city seems to pop in this shot.

It isn’t the most vibrant of photos, but then again Sydney is seldom a vibrant place.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 314: A City that Does not Want to Let Go

A groaning city sits far on the plain from where we stand.

It is quiet and on the opposite side is where the land meets the sea.

The city has been as still as the desert that it once was. However, wind blows through and caresses what was once a bustling hub of commerce and society.

Now all that happens is the buildings grown, occasionally seeing someone ruin through the street, for the people rejected the city, or were chased out.

There are remnants of those who once lived there in greater masses.

The buildings stand still, gray, casting a long shadow around the lands it sits within, yet the shadow never sits still for long.

Stores are empty and plenty of houses and apartments lay abandoned.

There is still furniture and there are still goods.

Despite the few remnants remaining there, living on being wary of each other, no one fights over what there is for there is no point. There is more than enough to go around.

Hospitals remain sterile, washed of the sounds of people moving through the halls and cleansed of machines making noise in order to signify something that may need attention.

Whilst there is plenty to go around, not all of it will be there forever. Indeed, little of it will last more than a few years and nothing will be likely to last beyond a couple of decades.

Such is the nature of objects that receive little to no care or maintenance.

Food will eventually become scarce and those who are clinging on to what was once a strong civilisation will eventually be forced to look out of the city that stands as little more than a memory that is best removed from the earth rather than kept as some sort of monument to the past.

Rarely animals are seen in the city. It is not certain as to why so few are seen.

Perhaps they know that is is easier to get into the city than it is to leave, for the defenses are still operational, protecting those on the inside by making it difficult to leave, yet somehow failing to prevent most of the entries into its boundary.

After the first few days of many of those that lived in the city left, it seemed like some sort of gift of entertainment, but of course it was not long before tedium began to set in.

Still, there are some who have managed to find a way to keep the tedium and creeping insanity away by finding something outside of routine that would at least help to whittle away the hours.

This is a city that has stood for a long time but has only been empty for a few years. It remains a mark on the earth, refusing to be forgotten despite the inevitability of it fading away.

It is a city that makes it difficult to leave its boundaries.

It is a city that does not want to let go.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:33:39

When I wrote this it did not save everything after I stopped the timer.

Fun times.

I think that when I wrote this I kept going back and taking this somewhere else.

Interesting premise but really bad execution.

Visiting Myspace

So a while ago I went to Myspace for the first time in many a year and then wrote about it because that seemed like a good thing to do at the time.

It probably wasn’t, but I was getting back into writing at the time as it had been a lengthy period of not doing much that was writing-related that wasn’t some form of lyric or lyrical fragment so I guess it served some sort of purpose

Anyway, I went to Myspace, wrote about it and that was it. Done. No more.

Well, there were times that I went back on for a total of a minute but as I couldn’t remember my password I didn’t bother going any further.

So yeah. Done. No more Myspace. I was a bit annoyed that all my writing that was there was erased, but I think I have the archive somewhere.

There was no reason for me to go back.

So of course about an hour ago I went back to Myspace, recovered my password and then sent myself down a spiral that left me feeling crap.

I’m not sure as to why I went back but I did manage to unearth some old photos that I took.

Still, it really was not what I’d call a pleasant experience.

Not to get nostalgic about Myspace… but I don’t really have much of a reason to be nostalgic when I do think of Myspace.

I don’t understand as to why people get so nostalgic for the past. The past is important, but it’s a place that is behind us for a reason.

Light, rare nostalgia is probably not a bad thing, but there’s so many people that seem to want to cling to the past so much that they can’t accept that perhaps there are plenty of things around today that may be able to come close, match or even supersede what they want to hold on to instead of let go.

Nostalgia doesn’t appeal to me, but sometimes I go back and dive into stuff for some stupid reason.

When I think about how I was in the past (especially when I was in my early 20’s and younger), I think about how there were some good times that I’d not want to relive and there’s plenty of bad times that I’d not want to relive.

I also think about how much of a jerk I was as well as how much other people were jerks.

There are some nice memories but it was life at the end of the day and I don’t think that it is healthy to cherry-pick some of the moments and continually pretend that it was all good times as I’d be doing a disservice to myself and the people that are part of those memories.

Anyway, not including certain things, the past is something that in general I prefer not to think about. There’s plenty of bad stuff that I don’t need to bring back into my life but I also need to not be an idiot and willfully bring some of that crap back.

Myspace probably was not that good way back when it was still a big thing and it probably is not worth visiting now.

Maybe it would bring back memories, but it’s certainly better to look forward and see where your feet are landing.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 313: Could have Written Something Better

Right now I’m in the middle of my third field trip of the semester and it is currently the one that I’ve enjoyed the most.

I don;t know why. Perhaps it seems a lot more involved.

There’s a lot of creature collection and tomorrow it is creature counting.

I get to go home both days. Maybe that is the reason as to why I find this one the most enjoyable.

There’s many reasons as to why I could find this field trip the most enjoyable one, but I’m not going to dwell on that right now.

Well, I should as I’m sitting here trying to work out what I’m going to write about and I’ve got nothing, so it’s probably the best choice for me to make, but at the same time I don’t as I don’t see a point as it does not matter as to why I seem to be enjoying this field trip more than the others that I’ve had this semester. All that matters is that I am enjoying which means that I’m probably getting more out of this particular field trip than the other ones that I’ve been on.

Well, that is what happens to be what I think, I think.

Well, now I am sitting here. I’ve wasted most of the afternoon with doing nothing.

I am tired and should probably go to sleep very soon.

I feel like writing as much as I do not feel like writing.

Is it one of those days? I do not know.

Tomorrow will be a day of taking photos and photos will be taken from the hearts of the masses, forever removed from their being as I collect every single shot that I can in some sort of grand and most evil plan of utmost grandness and evil…

Where was I?

So tomorrow morning before the second part of the field trip I’m going to try and steal myself some photography time which means that I’ll have to leave home a little bit earlier than I would if I was heading straight to the field trip site, but that’s fine by me as it means that I’ll have some photography time which is cause for some celebration.

Well, it is not cause for any celebration but I’ll be happy regardless of the outcome.

Well, I think that I’ll be happy regardless of the outcome.

Perhaps the outcome will be happy with me instead.

Perhaps I am feeling rather tired and should probably go to sleep before I keep on scraping at the bottom of the barrel in some sort of attempt to appear far greater at writing than I am.

Perhaps I should really go to sleep and not think about anything else for the rest of the night in the period between getting off the computer and falling asleep.

Perhaps I should also start working on the assignments that are due in a few weeks.

There are so many choices and only some to make.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:14:33

I felt the need to write something today, but I didn’t know where to start and waited too long to write something that may be entertaining.

This could have been much better.

Birds on Signal Transmitters / Receivers

There doesn’t seem to be much depth to this photo, now that I look upon it a little more after it has been processed.

It probably has to do with the sky seeming to be a little flat.

Oh well.

Here is a photo of a wonderful bird on a very “Pedestrian” signal transmitter / receiver.

Just noticed that there’s more than one bird.

Well, time for a title change.

I am choosing to believe that this photo is minimal in detail and very simple in colour and light.

I like that there’s a lot of negative space.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Pulling in

Once I was back in Sydney and off the first bus that was featured on the first field trip that I’ve had this semester, I had to catch a train back to Town Hall in order to get home.

I decided to get a shot of the train I caught before it stopped.

Not a fantastic picture by any means, but I do like that the closest doorway of the train has some really smooth parts to it in the photo.

Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness was themed this week as it’s the first one for the month.

The theme is “door / doors” and I think this photo partly encapsulates that theme.

If you’re a fan of monochrome photography on any level, then I recommend checking out Monochrome Madness and I also recommend considering submitting if you do photography.

I also recommend checking out Leanne Cole’s work outside of Monochrome Madness.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Wingecarribee Dam

It was a nice view to be able to… view.

Wingecarribee Dam, everyone!

The colours are not overly-saturated, the clouds seem large yet unimposing and the parts where vehicles have driven are clear.

I think that this is a nice, fairly low-key shot revealing part of a nice view.

I hope you enjoy.
