Five-Hundred Word Challenge 320: Should Have Watered my Plants

I should be doing uni work whilst I still have the time, but I’d rather sit here right now as my lunch is nearly over.

Deep time is an interesting thing to read about, as are many things that are out there that can be read about when you have the time to read about them.

They are certainly much more interesting than really angry essays that someone might put onto the internet somewhere for people to read and view in order to read and view something that someone has put onto the internet somewhere because they feel that it might make for something that is interesting to read and view at some point when people are ready to read and view that thing that has been put onto the internet for the explicit purpose of reading and viewing, but not necessarily in that order, for some people might view and then read the bit of text that has been put onto the internet for reading and viewing.

I should probably read about the time abyss stuff as it looks quite interesting, but at the same time I should probably do the studying that I need to do as I have the time to study right now as it isn’t too busy at work, but at the same time I have only a few more minutes before I need to log back in and begin taking the calls once more, answering the questions and dodging the rage with all deft grace that I posses.

Still, I can study whilst taking the call that shall shape the mood of the day for the rest of the day.

I did not water my plants this morning as the weather report reported that there was going to be rain, therefore covering the watering process that I had chosen to avoid. However, it is yet to rain and the plants are yet to be watered.

When I began writing this I thought I’d have something that was a little more…. I don’t know.

Not random, but a little more loose.

I guess this is pretty loose, but at the same time it is not the kind of loose that I thought I would have.

Still, I have put some thoughts into writing and whilst they may not be the best thoughts for someone to read, at least it is something that I’ve written and at least it is a little bit of an improvement.

Still, with all of that being said, I guess I should focus on other things that are more important. However, those things can wait, for tomorrow is another day on the horizon o life that so beckons me to keep on moving forward regardless of my uncertainties, for into the future lies the present and the only way to get there is to go forward and not backwards, so here I come, into the horizon leading to the tomorrow of my destiny in the grand arch of the humble morning.

Stuff!

A bit of absurdity!

Sort of.

Cliff Face at Myrtle Beach

I hadn’t processed a photo like this when I processed this photo.

When I started with it, it didn’t look that great but I liked how bright the cloud was so I decided to see if processing the photo in this style would work.

I like how it has made the layers of rock look, as well as its tone and colour.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 319: The Joy of that Head Spinning Feeling

Two days my head has been spinning and it’s an absolute hoot of a time, let me tell you!

There’s nothing more fun than being upright and feeling like you’re going to fall over due to the spinning, although it was a bit better yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday morning I had to finish a reading (which is the one that I wrote about in the “essay” that I shared) and was having difficulty being anything other than horizontal on my bed, and even that was hard to do due to the spinning and the nausea.

I was reading away and I could only do a few sentences at a time with some form of ease before everything became difficult. I persevered which was good, but it was not something that I’d recommend that people undertake.

The biggest joy about the feeling of the head spinning is found when you get up and need to walk somewhere and you feel like veering off the path that you need to follow but you can’t because you need to go somewhere but your mind has other ideas.

It’s almost as though your brain is drunk and you’re not, which generally is the opposite of how I feel when I’m drunk, although it has been a long time since I was last drunk, so I’m not sure.

Wait. I have almost been drunk in the past few months.

I am sure it is like that description.

Suffice to say, I am not enjoying this although that is most likely not something that would be described as surprising.

Maybe there are some people out there who like feeling as though their head is spinning.

If so, well, more power to them, or something.

I don’t know.

I’m having difficulty typing this which is also building up my frustration, but realistically if I’m doing this whilst feeling this way, then it is my bed to lie in.

I don’t really have much more to say on the subject. To be honest, I thought I’d be able to get something lengthy out of the feeling of my head spinning, but there isn’t much. I’m feeling frustrated at the situation, but it’s not really something that is grinding my gears enough because all it is is something that I need to wait out as I imagine that it soon will end. Well, I hope that soon it will end.

At least if I am able to be upright, then it’s not too much more than an annoyance. This could be significantly worse and I do know that I’ve had much worse than what I am experiencing right now.

Still, I’d much prefer not to be experiencing the head spinning feeling.

Whinge whinge whinge and so on and so forth.

Well, seeing as I don’t have much else to go on, I guess I should go back to doing other stuff, such as the ever-present study that hangs over me like a bad smell on a still, hot, dry Sunday.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:37:06

So it really does seem that I write slowest whilst at home and I think that has to do with the computer desk that I have.

I think that it might be too high off the ground.

Well, back to spinning!

Written at home.

Stanwell Beach

A photo of Stanwell Beach and the surrounding area.

I like that, due to where the photo was taken the houses, along with some other things appear to have shrunk in”Scale“.

I like that there are a number of waves that are visible and I also like that you get an idea of the vastness of the ocean and  land in this area.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

An Angry Essay that I Wrote

There was an arbitrary adding of uni work last week for one of my subjects which left me feeling angry which came through in the essay that I had to write as the essay in question was the arbitrary addition of work.

The tutorial demonstrator forgot to collect them.

It is not a good essay. It might be fair to describe it as really bad. It starts with whinging. However, I’m sharing it here because… I don’t know. I have no good reason.

Maybe I want it out there somewhere.

Anyway, here is how to not write an essay:

—–

So I read The Paradoxes of Time Travel and then set out to write as close to eight-hundred words as I felt that I could despite feeling quite nauseous, having to complete assignments that were not arbitrarily set, as well as catching up on the lectures that I miss due to having to go to work to support myself. I was going to do the reading as that is something that I do have time for, but I digress.

Despite what David Lewis seems to believe, The Paradoxes of Time Travel did not convince me that time travel was possible. It did not convince me of anything other than David Lewis had an interesting thought experiment that many of us have had.

No form of guardian there to stop an assassination of a direct relative in the past, yet still somehow due to circumstances the assassination fails. I imagine that, in a sense, that would be a form of guardian.

David Lewis brings up the causal loop, failing to mention that it is quite possible that there may have been a beginning to the loop. He assumes that it has no beginning, but it is quite possible that at the start Event A had occurred through some happening involving hard work, leading to the time machine. The traveller travels back and lets their younger self know how it was created, leading to Event B, which then leads to Event A once more but under different circumstances, which then leads to Event B once more and so on.

In his arrogance, David Lewis fails to consider the following possibility when misleadingly he tells us he is going to convince us that time travel is possible, then goes and explores the paradoxes:

It may just be that time travel is possible in that you can’t go back to the past, but time travel as it is perceived is actually a reconstruction of the past rather than an actual travelling to the past.

Perhaps all that is happening is that which was is being rebuilt to be once more.

Perhaps the time traveller does not travel through time but instead time is being moved around us in a way similar to how you can go back and forward in a film.

Name, I read the reading. I was not convinced that time travel is possible. I was not convinced that David Lewis was anything other than arrogant. He raises some interesting points. Well, aside from the whole “regular people travel through time at a rate of one hour of time per hour of time” bit. That was one of the most idiotic things I’ve read.

I don’t have the time to write additional essays because people did not do the readings. I was on a field trip and then straight back to work. I was working on that field trip and I came back to do more work. I did not have the time over the semester break. If other people choose not to do the readings, that is their problem. It’s up to them to choose how they want to fail.

Uprooted Tree

On the first field trip during this semester my class had to take some measurements of a river.

I had a little bit of time to wander about so I took a photo of this tree.

On its side I think the tree takes on an interesting form in relation to the land.

I like how its bare ranches give it a striking look.

I think that this photo being in monochrome allows the light to bring forward some details and make the tree appear quite striking.

I think.

It has a quality that I don’t know how to describe.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.

If you’re a fan of monochrome photography on any level, then I recommend checking out Monochrome Madness and I also recommend considering submitting if you do photography.

I also recommend checking out Leanne Cole’s work outside of Monochrome Madness.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 318: All of Them go to the Beach

On the surface of the ocean the light does dance in a way that seems to be pleasing to the eye.

It may be something sinister, but right now it is pleasing.

Waves crash and caress the surface of the beach, pulling away the sand whilst trying to flatten the profile of the beach.

There are enough dunes to work as a barrier, helping the beach recover every time there is a storm.

Children are playing. Children are laughing.

People of all ages are in the ocean, enjoying thew waves, having fun in the surf.

It is a day for celebration as it is a day in which many people are at the beach for some given reason.

The waves come and knock them about.

Some surf, some dive under and some allow themselves to be carried away as the waves move toward the sand, eventually breaking before they are able to crash down on the sand.

There are many people on the beahc, absorbing the heat and trying to give themselves some sort of tan.

Some people are not looking for either absorption or tanning. Instead they are just lookjing for a moment to relax away from the city, despite still being in it, for the beach offers a temporary repreieve from the bustle of the office, yet it still is as routine as everything else in their life.

Most people are on the beach enjoying themselves in some way, thinking that they are getting away from the routine that they have to follow every other day of the week, but in a way all they are doing is following a routine that they have always followed.

When it is hot you go to the beach on the weekend.

It is never the cold. Few people visit the beach and face the waves when it is a cooler climate, for they don’t want to experience the cold. However, the beach is still there, available for use by everyone, or at least those that will push beyond the temperature and embrace the waves, using them as some form of intense wake up, or perhaps some form of worship where being among the waves is their way of praying to mother nature.

Despite some people going to the beach as part of some routine despite their not thinking as such, there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that, for they all are visiting and are experiencing it in some way.

Some people are there as they want to be in the water, whilst some would prefer to be on the sand.

Some go there to experience the wave energy and feel as though they are part of something bigger than they had thought was possible in that very moment, whilst some go there to relax and find a form of unwinding that they don’t frequently have.

Some go in the cold in order to have more space to themselves.

All of them go to the beach and experience it in some way.

This is a very weak post, but I still think that it is an improvement over other recent posts.

I started this one way and it ended up being something else entirely.

Cockatoo Eats Flower

This was one of the first things I saw during the last multi-day field trip I had for this semester.

I was really lucky to be able to capture this moment.

It could probably be framed a little better, but I don’t care as I rarely have an opportunity to get a photo of a cockatoo eating a flower.

I think the flower is a waratah.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 317: Once Upon a Time Story

Once upon a time in a land far from here, there were events that lead to some sort of conclusion of considerable effect based on a scale of relativity.

To some, the effects were not that significant.
To others, the effects were very significant.

To the rest, the effects were neither here nor there.

The fact is that there was effects found in this conclusion.

What the effects were, no one knew.
Well, perhaps some people knew.
It does not matter for the telling of this story.

What matters is that there was a beginning, middle and ending and that it happened some time ago in a land far from here, wherever here may be.,

There were characters that performed actions.

There were reactions from other characters, as well as objects to the actions performed by the characters that lead to the initiation of the reactions.

There was also probably some sort of strife and torment, suffering and rising to the occasion, triumph of the will, the will to desire, the power to believe and all of the other things that usually go into a story of this kind of caliber.

The motivations of the characters were explored and there likely was some form of deconstruction into their desires in order to explore what makes us us and whether we should always try and seek to reach a conclusion no matter the cost, or if we should learn when to stop and let go of that which we desire before we lose everything and end up defeated by our own blindness.

There was a lot of journeying across the lands of old in order to find out the truth of the matter, assuming that there was indeed some form of truth in the matter at all.

The story could have had no conclusion whatsoever, which is still some sort of conclusion.
Well, there was a considerable effect based on a scale of relativity, so perhaps the lack of ending still being a conclusion was somewhat effective, depending on your point of view.

It may not have been effective whatsoever. Otherwise, it may have been very effective.

It may not have fallen either way on the scale of effectiveness.

What would it have been compared to to show how effective it is?

Well, to a giant chicken running through a city on some sort of unstoppable rampage, the ending may not have been very effective.

Otherwise, it may have been very effective it it was significantly more impactful than a giant chicken running through a city on some sort of unstoppable rampage.

Maybe it would be better to use some sort of snail as the weighting to test the relative effectiveness of the conclusion that this story has.

So suppose that there is a snail and it is eating a leaf, or something.
It is minding its own business, relaxing in the sun.

Then a huge cyber bird swoops down from the heavens and grabs the snail, then carries it away.

I believe that this is one of the better things that I’ve recently written.

It is a little more cohesive than other recent posts and it also meanders enough for me to be satisfied.

Once More, a Polemic Related to Public Transport.

Like many people in Sydney, I feel disgruntled about the idea that some of the transport services are going to be operating semi-privatised.

Well, like some people in Sydney, as most people don’t seem to care anymore.

I’m disgruntled by it as it is highly unlikely to solve issues that are currently affecting the bus network.

You can’t do much about traffic if you don’t do much to give people a reason to catch public transport.

If prices were raised and a noticeable improvement was seen in how our public transport operated, that would be something that a lot of people would be okay with, but when prices are raised and the transport system still remains as average (at best) as always, then people aren’t going to be willing to use what is offered.

Funny that.

But I digress.

I do not want to see semi-privatisation happen unless there is an absolute guaruntee that it will provide significant improvements, whi8ch I doubt, so in that sense I guess that makes me side with bus drivers in their desire to not see the semi-privatisation happen.

However, I don’t see how pissing some of the passsengers off endears the passengers to the “plight” of the bus drivers.

When some of the services suddenly stop showing up, joining a bunch of routes that see buses randomly, yet too frequently not have buses run, people aren’t going to feel the desire to keep on rallying behind the bus services.

Perhaps it is not the fault of the bus drivers.

Perhaps.

However, when a bus that is meant to arrive around 7:20 P.M. (it may be the 7:30-something P.M. service; I’m not entirely certain, but I do know that it is one of the two) during the week seems to disappear off the face of the earth, as well as the service after it continuously running late, you’re going to be left wondering as to what is the cause.

Realistically this is only one small example. It is possible that I’m one of a very few amount of people who happen to be experiencing this issue. I have my doubts that I am the only one experiencing something like this.

If bus drivers want passengers to support them in this fight, they need to not antagonise passengers.

End rant.
