Afternoon Ocean

Today I present a photo that I took on Wednesday whilst walking from Bondi to Coogee with someone that I haven’t seen in about five or six years.

Whilst this doesn’t quite look how I saw it, I’m really happy with the result from processing as I think that it reveals just how intense and powerful the ocean can appear.

I like how some of the clouds look similar to feathers, as well as how one looks a little bit like a bird.

I think that there’s a good balance of colours in this photo.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 167: Hunger Whinge

I was meant to start writing before, but then I forgot, so now I am writing at the current time, although this will be read after I have finished writing it and the event that I am currently undertaking will then be in the past.

Right  now I am feeling rather hungry. I am wearing a loud shirt and I can’t help but wonder if that is increasing the feeling of hunger that is steadily growing in my stomach, forcing me into a position where I feel the need to eat but cannot be bothered getting up from my desk to find food as soon my shift at work will be over and I’ll be able to buy food.

The main issue is that I am feeling hungry right now and have no food in front of me.
The secondary issue is that I will be doing my food shopping on the way home and it can be a bad thing to do food shopping on an empty stomach as it could lead to me purchasing things that I do not need to eat, or things that I should avoid eating.

Shopping on an empty stomach is always a dangerous endeavour and now I am presented with the dilemma of having to do so, thus compromising my sensibilities and forcing me to wrestle with my madness-induced conscious as I try to wrestle all the delicious ice cream away from me whilst at the same time trying to bring it close to my heart (and mouth) as I lovingly embrace it all the way to the checkout, pay for it, consume it in an incredibly short amount of time and then regret the decision later on as I’ve just spent a premium on something that I did not need to have and am trying to avoid having as it is easy enough for me to eat half a litre of ice cream in a really short amount of time.

That is assuming that I only stick with ice cream.

As the hunger is increasing, I know that shopping will become more difficult as things decide to subtly say “Come and buy me. You know you want to. A little bit of chocolate won’t hurt. There’s only four packs of us remaining. Come and buy me. You know you’ll enjoy what you consume”. The next thing I’ll know, I’ll have bought enough chocolate to feed me for the rest of the week.

However, if I manage to resist, I’m sure that I’ll walk out with a number of plums as it is currently plum season and plums happen to be my favourite fruit. They’re so wonderfully delicious. I could probably eat eight within a few hours.

However, if I did that, then I’d have to deal with other problems that are probably best not discussed here, lest I leave a number of people feeling disgusted by the end result and whilst I don’t mind, I amm sure that plenty of others would.

Abbeys

Abbeys is a book store that has been around for a little while.
It sells many books of varying genres.

If you’re ever in Sydney, it’s a book store that you should check.

Not the greatest photo I’ve ever taken, but I’m happy with how it turned out.
It gives a good sense of distance and the light levels are nicely balanced.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.
The theme is “Names“.

I hope you enjoy.

Curved Walkway

Here’s a photo of a curved walkway near where I live.
I took this on the same night as the last photo I shared.

I like the shape and the curvature of the bridge.

I also like the tone of the picture.

This is my entry into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Gazebo

Here are two photos of a gazebo.
It’s rather gazebo-like.

These were taken shortly before this one.

I’m not sure as to why I forgot about these two as I like them a fair bit. To me, they become more about shape and tone than detail.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Railway Square Lights

A shot of some of the lights at Railway Square.

I can’t remember as to why I took this photo, although I’m sure that it has something to do with liking what I saw.

The spiral is pretty nice, and the lights on the ring make it look a bit menacing.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 166: About Houses

Sometimes I go into these without the faintest idea of what I’m going to write about, which is probably a good thing as it means that I’m challenging myself more than I usually would. However, I wonder as to whatever will come out will be any good.

I probably wonder that about everything I write, but then again, there’s little point in trying to spend time working out as to whether anything of worth is coming from my mind to the screen via my hands when the idea is to write as quickly as possible whilst allowing some sort of stream-of-consciousness writing to come forth in order to create something that can, at the very least, be read and somewhat understood.

Ultimately, the important thing is that I continue to work on improving my skill at writing whilst coming up with things that I hadn’t thought of writing about, although I probably stick to the same topics a little too closely, so now I’m going to write about something that I hadn’t thought of writing about before.

Be prepared to be amazed, because this is going to drop like a ton of bricks.

HOUSES!

Houses are structures that usually are used for the storage of objects, both alive and nonliving. Sometimes these objects are visited regularly and sometimes they are not.

People will interact with these objects that may seem fairly normal, but in hindsight may seem more weird than anything else. Such is the nature of interacting with objects that are nonliving, as well as objects that are living.

Usually, a house will have a floor that can be walked upon. Sometimes a house will have stairs and sometimes a house will have a roof.

Sometimes a house will look at you menacingly. There was a time where that happened to me.

As it was doing it’s menacing look in my general direction, I noticed and began to scowl at the house. It did not seem to like this so it decided to uproot itself and take off, flying off to somewhere else. I do not know where it went, for I did not follow. I didn’t know what to do other than go about my business as though the whole ordeal that had just occurred in front of my seeing eyes did not actually happen and the area that the house had just been a part of had always looked like an area where a house would tear off from its foundations and go flying to go somewhere beyond my reach.

Sometimes a house will have a yard at the front and the back. This is truly a marvel of modern times when something like this happens, as it shows that someone wanted these things with their house and decided to get a house that had both instead of one, or neither.

Sometimes a house is not a house, but actually an apartment. This can be incredibly deceptive, so be careful if there’s any ambiguity to a house.

Waiting to Cross

The reason why this photo is titled Waiting to Cross is that I thought it was a better title than Another Building.

This is one I took a few days before Christmas.
I was playing around with the processing just to see what would come out if I tried to go for something specific.

I think that the building looks taller in this photo than it is.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

One Thousand Word Challenge 17: I had a Really Good Sleep Last Night

I had a really good sleep last night.
It was really, really good.
You could even say that it was really, really, really good.

You could say that.
However, it was merely really good.

It was the first really good sleep I’ve had all year.

It had been a while since I had a sleep as good as that one.

At one point, I woke up for an hour, then went back to seep for a further ninety minutes (approximately).

I NEVER DO THAT!

Well, I have been known to actually wake up and then go back to sleep, but it happens fairly rarely for me, so I’m pretty happy when it does happen as it leaves me feeling well-rested (sometimes).

However, this morning when it happened, I almost went back to sleep because I was feeling so tired even though I had slept for longer than I usually would.

I’m glad that I didn’t as there’s a lot for me to do before the day is over and I’d rather get on with doing things, such as putting on pants and brushing my teeth, as well as going for a walk and then heading to work but not before making my lunch that will provide the sustenance I’ll need at some point during the day, for the sustenance will keep me powering on into the future of destiny that is required for me to fulfill before I can go home to do more things, such as pontificate, postulate and perforate.

There’s a lot for me to do today, as well as in the remainder of the year and I want to spend as little of my time wasted so I can make sure I get a lot done, even if it turns out that I’m still somehow not able to do much despite trying to do a lot, because at least I spent my time doing something that is (hopefully) productive.

There’s always time to rest and I think I’ve capitalised on that a little too much over the last few years. I’d rather get on with doing more now instead of less.

I’d also like to make sure that I’m typing faster than I’ve ever typed before, coming yup with things that could be seen as somewhat fantastically brilliant, for I am the greatest writer that has ever existed, bar none, and now I also want to be the fastest writer that has ever existed as well, for why can I not be both at once and at the same time, neither forever?

I’m sure that it is somehow possible, but I must train hard and work hard at training hard to make sure that I can get there, although I passed the requirements many moons ago and now all it is is making sure that I retain the title of both until I feel it is no longer necessary and then decide to pass the torch on to someone else who I feel is a little more deserving than I could ever be, although it would really just be me being somewhat sympathetic to said person, for really, as we all know, they’d never be able to touch the bar that I raised and that’s my own fault really, for I shouldn’t have set it so high. Had I not done that, maybe there would be fair competition.

Perhaps one day there would be someone who would come close, therefore forcing me to come out of retirement as there would be some sort of legitimate competition available that would allow me to feel the challenge I once felt before I became so much better than everyone else,. trouncing the competition as I left them in my wake.

Then the story would continue to unfold before my very eyes as I would be part of it. There would be drama, action, romance, action, drama, comedy and plenty of gratuitous talking scenes.

The scenes would be so gratuitous that your head would be reeling with the tedium of trying to comprehend the subtle brilliance mired in all the banality of the conversations that would be occurring on screen, or directly beamed into your eye organs!

Beamed straight right in for your ocular pleasure.

It would be as wonderful as it would be painful, but that’s the way the future is going to go in this completely real scenario and I don’t care if it does not seem that way, for I can say whatever I want and damn the consequences to some ethereal plane that cannot be perceived by the mortal world!

Anyway, back to reality…

So I feel like doing a lot this year and I want to make sure that I get a good start.

A good start would probably be making sure that I get enough sleep to ensure that I’m functioning better than usual, as I don’t get enough sleep as it is.

I think I’ve been operating on very little for a bit too long and it’s time to change that around, although the chances are that despite my saying that now, I probably won’t get enough sleep. However, that doesn’t prevent me from trying.

The only difference between me trying that and me trying to grow functioning wings that allow for complete independent flight mobility is that one is achievable and the other isn’t.

I won’t reveal which one is, but rest assured, there is definitely one of those that I can do and I’ll do my best to make sure that I stick to doing it, because I’m sick and tired of being inhibited by my lack of doing what it is of those two options that I can do as it ends up preventing me from doing more of what I want and seems to have some serious knock-on effects that I’m a bit over dealing with at this stage of my life.

So yes. It was a very good sleep last night and so far, the best of the year.

Building Among the Light Lines

Whilst I was taking photos of The Galeries Victoria, I wanted to see if I could get a shot more directly under them.

I waited for the lights to allow pedestrian crossing, ran into the middle of the road and prepared to take my photo.
There was someone working on the light rail track construction there who told me I couldn’t run onto the road. I told them I’d be quick, to which they asked something along the lines of “what, five seconds?”.

I took my photo faster than that.

They were happy. I was kicking myself slightly as I worked out that I’d be able to get a thirty second shot, but I had other shots I was happy with so I didn’t feel it was too much of a loss.

When I checked the result, I was pretty happy with how it turned out. The building was capture pretty well and the light lines frame it quite well.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
