Top of the Tree

This is another photo taken inside the Queen Victoria Building.
Someone puts a giant Christmas tree inside the building every year.

I took a few pictures of the top of it and this is the one that turned out the best.

I like how the image plays with perspective, as well as the level of detail.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Inside the Queen Victoria Building

This week The Daily Post has asked people to consider their “Path” for the photo challenge this week.

I could write about what I’ve been through this year, but I’ll do that at the end of the year (with less photos to boot).

Instead, here’s a shot showing a few different paths through the same building.

I really like how the lighting turned out in this one, as well as the patterns on the floors.

I think that the photo has a lot of visual depth.

It does show that I’ve spent most of my year in the city, although making that conclusion from this photo is a bit of a stretch.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Low Traffic

There was probably a lot more traffic than it seems in the shot.

I was trying to play more with perspective in this photo, getting one car looking really small and one really big as they get close to each other.

I don’t think that it worked, but I do like how the photo turned out.

To me, the shadows of the cables create a nice pattern running over the road and the cars seem to look like they’re trying to push forward but are being held back.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Unused Power Poles 2

For Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness this week, there was a theme.
Some would say that the theme was something to do with Christmas.

This is my submission for this week.

These are, as far as I’m aware, the same power poles as these ones.

I like how it feels like it could be empty.

I also like how the poles feel really tall.

Something that I really, really like is that this shot feel much more like it has depth than the previous one.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 163: Not Getting a Joke

This morning I’m going to write about something that happened to happen this morning, as it is a recent event that I can write about with some sense of clarity and that makes me happy, so that is what this morning I will write about this morning during the morning that is occurring now.

Anyway…

So during this morning I went and take care of something that I needed to to make sure that I could still do my job past February. After taking care of this, I wanted to head to my regular café, but I did not have enough time, so I went to a café near work.

I saw that they had some items on their menu prefaced with “Ouroboros”, so I asked them if one of the items they had was eating itself.

They didn’t get my joke, so I gave a very brief explanation as to what Ouroboros was.

They seemed to get it after that. I’m not sure as I stopped paying attention to what they were saying.

IF YOU HAVE THINGS ON YOUR MENU PREFACED WITH A NAME OF SOMETHING AND NOT KNOW WHAT IT’S REFERENCING, THEN WHY THE EXPLETIVE ARE YOU USING THE NAME? WHY? WHY?!

And so on.

What really grinds my gears is that it seems that people just want to use names and words because they think that said names and words are cool and don’t want to have any form of regard for what they mean.

I’m fully aware of language drift and, whilst sometimes I do take umbrage with it, I accept it as things change and it’s not necessarily something that should always be fought against.

With that being said, I don’t think that justifies being an idiot just because you can bury your head in the sand willfully and ignore as much as you can that may point to your lack of understanding of how things work because you don’t want to be challenged in any way as your reality will suddenly shatter and explode into a million pieces, forcing you to re-evaluate your life and then go live the simple life in order to derive some sort of happiness from menial tasks as it will still be a fulfilling life of some form..

Perhaps I’m being a bit harsh. Perhaps it’s actually rather unfair to be so harsh about someone not getting what should be seen as a really obvious remark that is silly whilst also being slightly humorous (possibly).

Perhaps I do not care because HE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN AND I DON’T CARE IF IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT I WAS JUST CATCHING HIM OFF-GUARD UNINTENTIONALLY, FOR I WILL REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE ARE MANY POSSIBILITIES AS TO WHY THE PERSON WHO SERVED ME DID NOT GET MY SILLY JOKE.

Now, if you will all excuse me, I need to go bury my head in the sand for a while so that I can avoid anything that may challenge the view I have.

Quick review: The food sucked.

Written at work.

Walking Across the Bending Bridge

Yesterday I walked across Anzac Bridge because I wanted to before I started work.

Well, actually I wanted to go for a swim, but there wasn’t enough time.

Anyway, here’s a shot I took whilst walking across.

I hope you enjoy.

The Galeries Victoria

It has had a name change, but I feel that the old name is more fitting for these photos.

I’ve gotten my camera back from cleaning.

I took these photos last night.

I’ve been meaning to take a picture of this building at night for a while due to the lights.
I didn’t get all the colour changes, but here are some of them.

I don’t think that they themselves are interesting, but I do like how they colour the building.

I’m not sure if the taller building is part of The Galeries, but it is part of where the lights are shining, so I think it gets a pass.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 162: Writing Again

Here I am sitting at home, sweating away whilst I write, for I have missed writing greatly and it is something that I’ve been trying to get around to do since I last wrote something, but have continuously put off for various reasons that are not worth getting into here, as they are probably not good enough (it mostly boils down to procrastination, but that is something I shall vehemently deny if I am accused).

Although it has not been very long at all, I do have to admit that it does feel like quite a long time since I last bashed away on my keyboard to try and knock out something that could be considered worthy of reading. Although, with that being said, almost everything is worth reading. Even the stuff that is not worth reading is still worth reading as you could still get something out of something that isn’t particularly good, just as you could get nothing out of something that is considered excellent.

So right now I am sitting here and writing the words that may or may not be read and I am (unsurprisingly) trying to work out what to write about, but that doesn’t really matter to me very much as right now I am writing purely because I missed writing for the few days that I did not come here and spit out something that may or may not be worth reading.

I am not a good writer, but I do enjoy writing quite a lot. I’m sure I’ve said that somewhere here before, but I feel the need to repeat it once more, as it somehow fits into the context of the text that is coming from my mind through electrical signals running through my body and into my fingers to produce the images of letters that form words that you are now reading.

Now I have nothing left to write about, but onward I shall continue, for there is desire to get to the end and then perhaps write some more, although what will happen after this is that I will share a photo (or photos) that I have recently taken for your enjoyment, which will then be followed by something else that will be written, although that may instead come tomorrow instead of tonight, as is the way of things that seem to have some sort of pattern (although there is no pattern to be followed [that I am aware of]).

I’m just really, really happy to be writing right now and there’s nothing else I can really say. There really is a lot of pleasure that I derive from writing, whether it’s something that I think about (that is not related to university), or something that I try to pull out in some form of attempt at letting things flow via stream-of-conscious rambling that seems to go nowhere, and yet nowhere at the same time.

Well, with all of that being said, I think I shall end this here.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 08:05:27

A decent speed, I think.

Well, that’s it for me (for now).

Written at home.

Kookaburra

I’ve been meaning to write for a few days now, but it, like everything else I’ve been meaning to do has been pushed aside.

Instead of something written, here’s a few photos of a kookaburra that visited my backyard a couple of weekends ago.

I had to get Je to grab my camera for me as I was worried that moving too much would cause it to fly away.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

One Side of the Bridge

Last week I had to put my camera in for cleaning.

I have it back now, which makes me happy.
You could say that I was waiting with “Anticipation” to get it back, because I wanted to take photos, such as this one.

Being mostly constrained to the city at the moment, I might as well take pictures of what I think is interesting.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.
