Lucky

Here’s a photo I took in 2012 of Lucky, who happens to be the dog my brothers have.

I went to a park with him to play with a frisbee.
I think Gabe was there as well, but I’m not too sure.

I like how “Jubilant” and proud he looks in this photo.

I also like how it looks like he has a huge smile on his face.

This is my entry into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 115: Mysterious Object and the Expanse Before it

Always at ten and across the green desert lies an object of distinct desirability.

Many people have come and tried to conquer the grand expanse that lies between them and this object, but none have been able to get anything that could be considered far.

No one knows what the object is, but they know that it had not always been there.

There are many grave dangers found throughout the expanse. Some are far more unknown than others. It would be safe to say that most of them are completely unknown, for no one has been able to see them.

Trying to fly over the expanse does not work, as, for some unexplained reason, vehicles lose power as they travel over.

Once there was a time when someone almost managed to get farther than anyone else.  They were lucky enough to return in one piece. However, before they could tell anyone anything, they died due to natural causes and then, instead of people having hope, they were let remaining in the dark of a way to possibly getting father than anyone else.

I guess that kind of goes against what was said earlier, but sometimes that is the way of how things go with these things.

Anyway…

It is odd that the unknowable of the object adds to its desirability, although it isn’t.

There are many reasons as to why people would pursue the torture that would be to get the object; some people seek fame, whereas others want to observe and take notes. Some may want to destroy it, whilst some desire to move it to an even more remote location.
Some just want to find answers and then talk about them.

Although many people have tried to traverse the expanse and failed, no bodies have ever been found, nor an indication that people have been there. Many have been witnessed going in, but nothing s left remaining after they fail.

It is perhaps this reason that enhances the mystery of the object and the expanse itself.

Perhaps the expanse developed to protect the object from being taken and used for purposes that are unknowable due to the unsuitability of the object itself.

It is difficult to know.

There may be one day that someone will finally get through the danger and the mystery or the expanse and finally see the object. Despite what their purposes may be for doing so, we will no doubt have to respect their tenacity for having made it the whole way through. This is, of course, assuming they don’t end up dying from exhaustion and manage to come the whole way back through the expanse to the beginning again, therefore being able to show their vicinity to whoever would care to look on.

Until that time, people will keep on trying and failing, not realising that they could probably just go around and enter through the back.

Although, they can’t, but they should probably look where they’re going. It would help a lot.

First time trying to make up fiction as I write it in a while.
It seems pretty… something.

I don’t know what to make of its quality.
Probably on the poorer end of things, but I’m not fussed.

Trains at Southern Cross Station

Here are two pictures I took in February with Leanne Cole.

It was at the end of the evening, just before we parted ways.

I like how the trains just appear as lines and aren’t too defined beyond that.

I like the stillness of the shots, despite the implication of motion in them.

This is my fifty-sixth submission into monochrome madness.
I strongly suggest getting involved and checking it out.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 114: Fridays

And once again the day falls upon a Friday as the weekend looms ahead with glorious intent and rewarding promise, providing riches that can only be found there, unless your weekend period is over the working week due to working weekends, in which it could possibly be found there as well.

Sometimes on the way there, we pass through the cold and the heat whilst contemplating our limbs if they were truly ours to contemplate, questioning their motivations and movements whilst thinking about moving them and yet not at the same time, in some sort of thought-based dance that can only grow more and more entangled, and yet somehow never manages to be completely so.

Friday is a day of excitement for many people out there, as they seem to find difficulty in getting through the working week.

Maybe that’s not actually the case and they just like to make a lot of jokes about the weekend not being here soon enough, or not being long enough. To be honest, I don’t know, but I’m sure there is truly a reason as to why people do it, unless there isn’t.

Friday is just like any other day at the end of the day. It is named and consists of a period of time.

What else is there to say about Friday?

To be honest, I do not know. There’s probably a lot of things.
There’s probably solid reasons as to why Friday is called Friday and not another name that ends in day.

I don’t know if  I will ever care to truly find out.

All I know is that right now, it’s a day that I am spending at work and not minding, for sometimes being at work on what is traditionally considered the last day of the working week can be an enjoyable endeavour.

Sometimes it can be seen as punishing.

I think a lot of it has to do with how well the working day is going.

After Friday, the weekend begins and it considered to be a massively temporary reprieve from the hard slog over the pile of work that one has had to grapple and battle for dominance over their workspace in an ongoing battle known as a job or career; something people would consider a punishment due to the servitude they haver chosen to embrace to atone for their sins of being young and foolish… perhaps.

Sometimes it’s probably a good idea to just kick back and relax on a Friday afternoon.

Probably.

We all need to relax instead of continuing the war of attrition that we embrace every week, but must also be aware that taking a brief break does not mean that we are safe from the dangers of continuous flow of things to do can bring upon our defeated souls.

With all of that being said, I like my job.

I also like Fridays and every other day of the week.

Except Tuesdays.

Those days are something… sometimes… not always forever.

I was actually angry about things earlier, but I ended up not writing about them as I’m not angry now.
Instead, you all get this tripe.

Some bad Poetry About Plants

Here’s some bad poetry about plants.

It could definitely be better than what it is.

Well, I hope you enjoy.

——

Many leaves fall on the ground
After detaching from outstretched arms
And through the ground on leaves are fed
As their nutrients pass into the soil bed

Roots shall embrace what they can
To give their bodies strength to grow
And reach further upwards to sunlight
Whilst providing a wondrous sight

Sunset From Pirrama Park

Here’s my second sacrifice in learning processing.

On Saturday I went to Pirrama Park to take a few photos as well as try my hand at getting shots for working with HDR (something else I want to do).

I ended up toying around with one of the images, first working on the sharpness and noise reduction. Then I decided I wanted to try and get it close to looking somewhat washed out and hard (I think).

I like how it turned out, but I prefer how the water looks in the original.

I also like how the colours and cloud detail turned out in both.

Anyway, here’s the original and the processed photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 113: Pain

And here we are, once again, once more in pain that is as always, the inflicted upon the self variety.

IRONIC, YET NOT!

Although, pain is not always self-inflicted, but sometimes it is.

The things that we do for science… the things that we do…

Anyway.

Whilst at university yesterday, I had to collect data for a statistics assignment that I’m currently doing.

The data that I was collecting was the time it took me to do a sprint across a cricket pitch.

And of course I had to do this eight times.

Why?

Because it felt like an appropriate way to begin that sentence.

Anyway…

So, I did this sprint eight times and I did it barefoot as well, because I felt that running in boots would be more tiring and reduce my average speed.

If it was the case, I do not know.

Suffice to say, I’m not as fast as I thought I would be, but probably a lot faster than I should be.

I now have my data and I’m probably going to have to repeat it a few more times before I can truly say that I have enough data, but anyway…

It was neither fun nor boring. It just was.

Now I’m quite sore.

Today has been a day of feeling rather sore and in a fair bit of pain, but at the end of the day, I have to wear it as it was my choice to make and complaining about consequences that I should have been far more aware of than I was at the time is only a silly thing to do.

Hence why I’m going to do just that.

Why the hell am I in pain? What did I do to deserve this?

Oh cruel, damned fate. I cannot believe that such a thing would befall my already tragedy-filled life, increasing the amount of misery and torture carried upon the burden that my weary soul must endure for an eternity beyond flesh.

Must I really be forced into feeling pain in the physical sense whenever I decide to move from a stationary position?

There are many cruel things out there, but surely there is nothing nearly as cruel as what I am forced to have in my life in this current point of time, as well as the point of time that had just passed a moment ago!

Surely there must be a way to find the source of the curse and thus undo the problem in a way, for I need to find why this has happened. I need to find the perpetrator.

And yet, I don’t know how, sop I must remain curled in the darkness, feeling as though nothingness has embraced my being as…

…No, I can’t keep this up. It’s far too melodramatic for me.

The pain is not pleasant, but there not much I can do about it other than rest and wait for it to pass.

Besides which, it was for science, so I’m happy.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:47:48
I don’t know where I was going with this.

I really have no idea.

With that being said, it is now written and sitting here for the viewing something.

Sunset at Marrickville

Recently (due to one of my friends getting up me a few months ago [it took that long for me to finally make this decision]) I decided to start shooting in RAW instead of JPEG.
I want to learn how to do processing in order to get better at photography.

This image is the first sacrifice that was made.

EDIT: I’ve added the original for comparison purposes. Colour-wise, I think I have a slight preference towards the original; I’m not too sure. I think it’s because it’s less vibrant, but y preference could change.
However, my preference, sharpness-wise, sits with the second.

I hope you enjoy.

Pensive Pug

Whilst I was in Melbourne during February, I took some photos of a pug.
I like how the pug has a pensive look on its “Face“.

I also think it’s funny that that its look is overly dramatic and serious, as though though it’s been through a lot and seen many things.

This is my submission for The Daily Post‘s photo challenge this week.

I hope you enjoy.

City and Sky

On Saturday last week, Je and I were heading home from being out.

That’s a cool start to a story.

On Saturday afternoon, it was and happened to be.

Anyway, we were heading home and crossing over a footbridge.

I saw the sky and the city and decided to get some shots as I liked the patterns that I was seeing.

I like how the sky can have so many different patterns displayed.

I like how it can look intense, mild, and many other things.

In these photos, I like how the different shades, layers and patterns in the sky contrast with the parts of the city that can be seen.

I like that the city seems to stand out
I also like that it looks a bit bleak and small.
That would mostly be because this is taken from a distance and not much of the city can be seen… I think.

I do like the contrast between the angularity of the city and the smoothness of the sky.

This is my fifty-fifth entry into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness.

I hope you enjoy.
