A Dramatic Shot of a Shoe

I was going to write something last night, but I need to work on assignments.
I ended up not doing that or finishing this off, so instead you get it now.

I took it on the weekend whilst going on a bit of an adventure.

The title says pretty much everything I think about the picture.

I do also think that it’s funny that this misplaced shoe is getting a dramatic shot.

I hope you enjoy.

Gymea Lily

This was taken during one of the walks around the area I did recently.

I took a picture of this as, whilst I have gone past it many times, I hadn’t noticed it being where it was.

I imagine that had I, I would have seen it in a far more glorious state, although it is still quite beautiful.

I like how there’s a plant growing around it and that it’s supporting the growth of the other plant.

The other plant might be a white moth vine, but I’m not entirely sure.

I think it makes the image look a lot less lifeless without taking away from the beauty of the gymea lily.

I also think that it’s a good representation of nature’s resilience, as this is next to where Victoria Road connects to the Western Distributor Freeway.

For Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness“, this was my fortieth submission.
I recommend going to her blog and checking out her stuff.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

White Bay Power Station

Here’s a photo of the aforementioned object of desire.

I say that as I want to see the interior, but it’s fenced off so it’s a no-go.

Actually, I only used it as I thought it would be humorous.

However, I do want to get inside and explore around, but I’d much prefer to do it legally, so until that can happen it shall remain closed off to me.

The power station is heritage listed for some reason, but I think that’s good as it helps preserve at least a small part of Sydney’s history.

From what I’ve read, it used coal to provide power.

This is not the best photo of White Bay Power Station, but I like the angle as it’s one side directly facing the camera.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 90: In Search of Lemon

I’m feeling sad.
So sad, that I feel almost distraught in ways that even I cannot comprehend, which is odd as I can usually comprehend a lot more than I think I can comprehend, as I’m some sort of all-comprehending kind of person

It comes naturally.

I recently offered to find a singing lemon for someone as they had misplaced it.

It was described as being of a lemon in appearance, with realistic eyes and lips.
It was one that liked singing and bouncing around near pianos and had a feminine voice.

I though to myself that this was no easy task, yet one that I would successfully complete as, whilst there are a lot of singing lemons out there, this one would still reveal itself to me at some stage and thus I would be successful in my task… nay, mission, to find it and therefore the person looking for their singing lemon would have their singing lemon again and there would be a great deal of peace in the world once more, instead of whatever was happening before the lemon had been discovered, which was a world without hope, ruled by chaos and ruination.

So anyway, I went out into the streets and hung “lost lemon” signs, searched under rocks and on some roofs and asked people passing by whilst holding up a picture of what I thought the lemon looked like.

I decided to ask the sky to keep an eye out for said lemon, but there was no result there.

Everything was pointing to the same thing: that the lemon had, indeed, disappeared so well that it did not exist anymore.

However, I decided to persist as this was a great matter of importance in some way and I needed to make sure to see it through to the end, regardless of the consequences that could possibly result from that.

I went into the desert one day and had a look around.

I could hear some sort of singing and possibly the sounds of a piano being played.

Then I heard the sound of bouncing.

This was after searching for a few days in the desert, of course.

So, upon hearing these, I ran to the source (or at least where I thought the source was coming from) whilst “Oxygène Part II” played in the background, featuring shots of me running taken from a far distance as well as from an aerial view to emphasize the vastness of the desert and my being very small compared to it to get the message across that we are but tiny beings who cannot truly comprehend how vast and gigantic our surroundings really are, as we can only see what we see and nothing else matters.

The sounds grew loud. I got over a sand hill and saw a hippopotamus bouncing, a monkey playing piano and a parrot singing with a sweet, voice that I could not quite place anywhere as being nothing other than feminine.

The search continued.

A bit slower than expected, but that probably has to do with me removing a chunk and rewriting it.

Here’s some silly story for you, inspired by a silly conversation with Stephellaneous.
To be fair, the conversation isn’t that silly, but there is a lot of silliness to it.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 89: My Inane Writing

If there is anything in this world that really grabs my goat, it’s a good pair of hands attached to an able body that is ready to spend some time grabbing goats that think it’s a good idea to be a bit rebellious and rambunctious than they usually are, leading people on a wild goose chase, except the goose is by your side the whole time and rather polite, calm and in control.

The big problem then, is that what I’m about to say has nothing at all to do with goat grabbing or wild geese, although, now I wish it did, as that would make a far more interesting thing to read than ranting and raving pointlessly about the breakdown of teamwork required to complete things I need to complete, although, with that being said, the teamwork hasn’t really been there to begin with and all that’s happening right now is me writing a lengthy sentence once more.

I was going to put something here about ducks as that was also much more interesting, but I ran into a wall that decided to raise right in front of me when I tried to link it to the goose that is there when on the wild goose hunt, so instead I’ll just say that there are some ducks flying by when on the wild goose hunt that is happening (but not really as now I’m going into utter nonsense because I can [that’s why]), flapping in unison to the rhythm of the beat of the pulse of the wind, giving some sort of feeling similar to awe, yet totally and utterly different at the same time as they are looked upon.

Then once the needles start coming out of the ground and you decide that it is time to harvest the melon that you have been growing for years, a person of great antiquity beings to approach and asks you if you know what you know is all that you know when you’re faced with the fact of knowing that what you know is not much to know in the grand database of knowledge housed in some sort of primordial consciousness that we can freely tap into when faced with challenges that are unknown and yet so familiar, seeing as there are mountains that we must climb and suns that will one day eat our very being, making the storing of knowledge a pointless endeavor unless we find a way to take it with us into space when we eventually reach that point, yet not take the music as it will all be lo-fi contemporary lounge music by that point.

I mean, who the hell would want to listen to that?

Well, probably a lot of people, now that I think about it, but that’s beside the point.

The point I’m trying to make is that I don’t have a point to make.

Not right now, anyway.

Hello. My name is *place name here* and you’re reading my inane writing.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:15:16
I was going to write about the troubles involved with group projects, but then I decided it would be better to let my mind take over, and here is the result.

Through Branches

Here’s a picture I took after climbing a tree.

I went for a walk last weekend and climbed a tree to get a good vantage point to take photos.

I took pictures of the tree instead of anything beyond it, partly because it would have required more climbing and safety would have dropped significantly for me and partly because I liked the look of the tree.

Being among nature can make me feel “Optimistic” about life.
It’s an intense thing that also seems to have a calming effect as they feel more aware of what is around them than the usual dreariness that cities can provide.

Most of these photos were taken with my phone. The last two were with my camera.
I chose them as, whilst they show the same thing (with some slight differences in positioning), each image shows it differently.

I also like that, looking upon these images, I find them to be relaxing and peaceful, looking through the branches as they form an image over an image.

This is my Submission for The Daily Post‘s weekly photo challenge this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 88: About Trees

I have a severe dearth of ideas right now, so I apologise if the following reads like some sort of ongoing rambling that has no cohesion or sense.

Trees!

Trees can have bark, but when they bite, it’s truly a thing that should be something that one should not see.

Well, actually, they should, for if the tree is coming for you and you don’t see it’s jaws of power opening to close around you, then you won’t be able to avoid it and will find yourself being eaten or dead.

Sure, there would be worse ways to go, but why would you want to go from death by being bitten by a tree?

It’s still not pleasant.

When trees start questioning themselves and start watching other trees, feeling some sort of envy towards them and their stoic nature whilst they themselves slowly become more aware of themselves than they should whilst slowly becoming insane at the realisation that they are, in fact, trees, it’s a serious problem, as they’re going barking mad and the last thing you want trees to go through is that.

Could you imagine?!

If trees were to rearrange the stars, they would make them in patterns that swirl both inwards and outwards, creating wonderful dances in the sky of light and stars.

It’s probably a good thing that trees can’t do that. Probably.

As we all know, tree is the strongest material in the world. If there’s anything that video games have taught us, they are nigh invincible and have impeccable stopping power.

This is why you can use a wooden desk to fend off a robber with some sort of powerful weapon of their choosing to assist in the committing in their nefarious crime, whatever that may be (possibly robbery).

Trees are not the greatest source of the oxygen in the world.
That belongs to cyanobacteria.

Knowing that, if someone tells you that the Amazon happens to be the lungs of the world, you can correct them and tell them it’s the ocean.

If they disagree, you can grab a tree and smack them over the head for their heinous transgression. They will thank you for punctuating your point so efficiently, assuming they’ll still be able to talk afterwards as they would most likely be in shock and awe of your ability to grab a tree and uproot it with incredibly little difficulty, then swing it around with no effort required.

In fact, a lot of people would be in shock at your ability to do that and you might get in trouble, so don’t go hitting people over the head with a tree.

It’s a dangerous thing to do and you might hurt the tree.

This is, of course, assuming the tree hasn’t bitten you before you grabbed it, and also that it isn’t busy being an insanely strong material, stopping cars in their tracks and shrugging off the slight tickle that they may feel afterwards.

Trees are seriously tree-like.

They really are.

Somewhat surprised I was able to write this as I really am running low on ideas.
Maybe I’m good at pulling things out of nowhere when I throw myself into it and should stop thinking so much about whether I have ideas or not, as one of the main reasons I started doing these challenges was to make me come up with stuff on the fly as well as work on developing an ability to write in a stream-of-conscious fashion with more ease.

Also, the the cyanobacteria bit is, as far as I’m aware, true.
It might change as science progresses, but right now, I understand it to be the case.

Arch and Cables 2

Here are a few more shots taken whilst on Anzac Bridge.
I like these for the same reasons as the last one I uploaded, but I also like them for how striking and gargantuan the arch appears.

Of course, it is quite large, but it really does show here.

I also like that the cables are stretched out, reaching with not difficulty for something that is beyond the view.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 87: Humidity

It has been what one could refer to as a long week.

What I mean by that is, it actually hasn’t and I didn’t really have another way to start this post other than with “it’s been a long week”, which, now that I think about it, is a bit of an odd phrase, as the weeks don’t generally change in length.

I know it refers to the perception of the flow of time, but still, I find it odd.

Maybe I should not think about the phrase too much a, if I do, I will look at it too much at face value and then the humidity that has currently occupied Sydney and decided that it would be a good idea to allow me to have a shower by simply standing outside, which is absolutely wonderful after having a shower at home, will somehow get into my face and help me phase out of this reality and into another that will be one giant sauna that will feature a lot of relaxing and mist.

So, so much mist.

It’s a bit humid in Sydney right now and, whilst it does bother me from time to time, I don’t care.

Well, I try not to care. Sometimes it’s a bit harder to be bothered by the humidity, which is ultimately pointless as I live in Sydney and cursing the heavens for living in a city that seems to enjoy humidity at times seems like a pointless endeavor.

With that being said, there are conditions that I do prefer over the humidity.

At the end of the day, it could be worse.

I could currently be sitting on a chair, inside, on the lower ground floor of my place (my place has two ground floors that are both on the ground and at different elevations), which also happens to be the floor that is a lower temperature than the upper ground floor which is also where my bedroom is, and be sweating because humidity has invaded the house and decided to be some sort of relentless, formless beast that has much far more initiative than one would expect.

You’d think it would be more… gormless.

Suffice to say, I’m a bit bothered and feeling frustrated as I don’t want to spend another night sweating on my slab of bed.

I have a fan but I still sweat!

In actuality, I’m not really bothered by it right now, but I felt I’d carry on with it as it would make some sort of pointless complaining that may be interesting and/or humorous to read, but lo and behold, I don’t know if it is or isn’t and I’m not going to try and find out as I’m going to dream of sitting in a pool full of water that will make me protected from the humidity before it consumes and makes me one with it, becoming some sort of… humidity… thing…

Yep. I don’t have anything else to add to this challenge.

Oh well.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 9:52:60
This could have been significantly more interesting had I actually pulled my finger out and written more this week, but no – it was not to be.

I’ll survive.

Now, time to swim my way through the air to my beddy bed bed.
And by that, I mean accept my fate and sleep.

Arch and Cables

Behold!

Another photo of Anzac Bridge at yet another angle you don’t see that often!

Correction: part of the bridge.

This was taken on the same day as the last photo of Anzac Bridge I shared.
There were a few others that were similar to this one, but I’ll share those another time.

I like this one a lot due to the angularity of the cables and the arch.
The cables are, to me, like sails in this image.

I also like that the fairly clear sky allows the arch and cables to stand out more, being stronger in the image than if it had been an overcast day.

It’s difficult to get a shot under the direct centre of the arch as that is where the road runs, but I think I’ve done an okay job in regards to getting as close to the centre as I can.

This is my thirty-ninth entry into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness“.
I recommend checking it out.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
