Five-Hundred Word Challenge 71: Sandwich Story

Once upon a time there was a person who saw a snowflake that rode the surf off into the sunset because it needed to get back home as its sandwich needed to be eaten.

The person, not quite knowing what was going on, decided to follow this snowflake on their jet ski in order to find out and hopefully learn something new about the mysterious nature of the world.

The journey was an incredibly long and uneventful one.

There were waves and there was water.

The snowflake continued heading along, almost not knowing that it was being followed by a curious person.

It didn’t care whatsoever, for it needed to get to its sandwich with great speed, for time was running short and if it didn’t get there, the sandwich would go off and that would be a waste of food.

Eventually they reached land and, seeing the snowflake head up along, into a field full of wonderful animals and up a mountain, the person followed as quickly as they could.

The snowflake was surprisingly fast for a snowflake that was somehow not getting blown around by wind at any point in the journey.

Still, the person managed to keep up with them with little difficulty.

The climb up the mountain was also quite uneventful.

There were creatures of interest, rocks, and a mountain.

Well, obviously there was a mountain. It was being climbed by the person who may or may not be the main character of this story.

Anyway, once at the top, there was a large valley full of snow and trees.

The snowflake hurried along into a cave that was nearby.
The person, feeling tired and worn out, followed the snowflake into the cave.

There they saw a wonderfully designed home, full of ornate furniture and a long table.

On the table was a single plate with a sandwich sitting there, not looking as though it was freshly made, but still looking incredibly delicious.

The person, being hungry, slowly approached the sandwich, being careful not to bump into anything as their focus was entirely set upon the meal that was in front of them.

They reached the table crept their way along the length of it, spending what seemed to be an eternity going along the side, but soon the beautiful vision of edible items would be ready for their taking into their hands, eaten with vigour and determination.

They could almost feel it in their hands.
The soft bread softly being pressed into as it approached their maw to be sent to their stomach in a rapturous dance of flavour and taste.

They were there in front of the sandwich.

They felt their eyes watering.

They picked it up and then began to raise it to their mouth.
It was time to be fulfilled with nutrients and deliciousness.

It was time to feel full once more.

It was time to eat the sandwich.

It was close to their mouth.

Then the sandwich ate them.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I slowed down around the eight minute mark as I began to think too much.

This story is wonderfully stupid.
I like it simply because it is bad.

The Living Room Today

Here is a picture I took around 10:07 A.M. today.
I took it solely for the purpose of having something to submit into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge.

The theme is “Now“, so I thought I’d try and get a moody shot of my living room.
The thing is… the living room is a bit messy at the moment, so it’s not as moody (or dramatic) as it could be.

I do like the shot though.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy

Christmas Tree

It looks to be a happy, smug one.
Possibly a bit violent as well.

This was started yesterday and finished today.

I hope you enjoy.

Reindeer in the Shopping Centre

I’m a bit concerned with these reindeer, as it looks as though they’re going to plough right into the floor.

Although, they most likely will pull up before that can happen.

I used this photo as my thirty-sixth entry into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness“.
The theme this week is “Christmas where you are”, and it was a nice way to end the year.

My place doesn’t have anything Christmas-like set up, so I went to Broadway Shopping Centre and took pictures there whilst I took care of other things.

Well, I took two pictures; both were of this.

Whilst I’m not normally a fan of large Christmas set-ups, I think this one is nice.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 70: The Great Thing About Rain

There is a man outside in his underpants, standing and looking at the sky, yelling “where’s the rain?! Where is the rain?!”.
He is shaking his fist and stomping one of his feet against the ground as he is doing this, and it is as fantastic as it is mystifying.

Well, okay, that is not what is actually happening.

There is no man and there is no display of interest.

However, it is what I wish was happening right now, as it would sum up how I feel about the weather right now.

It is quite overcast and it looks as though it is going to rain at any moment.
However, there is no rain falling at all.

This week is meant to be a wet one and supposedly it was going to rain today, but the weather report is telling me otherwise. Whilst I am not displeased (as it means when I head out, I’ll be getting snap happy), I kind of wish it would be raining.

The great thing about rain is that it’s so incredibly dramatic.

Okay… there’s a lot of great things about rain and it just so happens that it being dramatic is one of those great things.

If you’re really angry, heartbroken or some sort of other emotion that doesn’t make you feel good, you can go for a run (or, preferably, jog) in the rain and it feels so much more cathartic due to it being dramatic.

Who doesn’t want their own personal catharsis scene?

Rain is also fun to listen to.

It can be incredibly relaxing.
It can also be incredibly terrifying.

I enjoy rain to an extent.

I don’t like it when it rains on and off for a few weeks, as I need to be able to wash and dry my clothes.

With that being said, it is only a minor issue really and I don’t think I have any other problems with the rain, now that I think about it.

I wish it would rain today as it would make a consistent week.
Also, as I am in a mood to see the rain.

Whilst I am not feeling the need for a dramatic jog, I would still like to have the option for one today, just in case I need it later.

I don’t think I will, but still, options are nice.

The rain doesn’t need to be too heavy. There just needs to be enough of it for me to be able to come home soaked in water and able to dry off with the use of a towel after having a shower to get the rain off me.

Because when covered in water, the best thing to do is have a shower to get rid of the water that you are covered in.

Anyway…

Today is supposedly not a day that it is going to rain, but for reasons that are as unreasonable as they are reasonable, it should rain today.

I know I’d like it.

I don’t think it worked.

Sunrise Near Bondi Beach

Here are the photos I took of the sunrise on Saturday.

I don’t know what moods these images invoke.

I think that they are, to an extent, calming and atmospheric.
I also think that, whilst they are not amazing, they do capture an amazing moment.

I am happy with them, but also restless as I want to see if I can get better shots.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 69: Attacking Brick Story

It’s another one of those times where I don’t have anything interesting tow write about, so in a shameless attempt to maintain some sort of interest and attention, I shall make up as much of the following as I possibly can.

There was one day that occurred recently.
It was a day where I was walking along, sipping on my coffee and thinking about how the silent sounds of bird activities were so serene and beautiful.

Then it hit me: a brick.

“Shit, a brick”, I thought.

I knew this couldn’t be good, so I quickly finished my coffee and ran like I had never run before.

Well, I had run like that in the past, but that’s beside the point, of which there is none.

Bricks started flying out of nowhere, hitting people who were minding their own business, cars, buildings, and other bricks.

It was absolutely insane and I had no idea as to what was going on.
I ran and ran, yet I was unable to avoid the incoming bricks and kept on being hit.
Still, I pushed on as I thought that I would be able to escape the onslaught eventually.

How wrong I was.

It wasn’t long before I ended up tripping on a raised branch that I did not notice.
I hit the ground quite hard.
The pain was not unbearable, but certainly not desirable.

As I got up, a large amount of bricks hurtled towards me.
I began to run again.
It was not enough, as I did not have the ability to run fast anymore.

Suddenly I was being hit harder than before and after about a minute, I found myself buried in the bricks that were hitting me.
I could not see light and all I could smell was the smell of bricks.

I was certain that there was no escape from this.
It turned out that this was indeed the case and I ended up spending a very long time buried under the brick pile, thinking about many things, such as whether anyone else was okay, what this meant for the world, whether I’d be able to see my housemates again or not, positive disintegration, and if I’d ever have the chance to have a coffee one last time.

Eventually the bricks started melting around me.

I had no idea what was going on, but I was thankful as they liquefied and revealed the sky to me once more.

I was finally free.
I could see the world around me again.
Everything seemed okay.

As I was walking home, I thought about what I had experienced and why a space wolf by the name of Bernard that had come to my rescue.

I didn’t know why this odd and painful event had occurred, or what had lead to it occurring.

However, it meant I could rest and do something meaningful, like go to sleep and wake up the following day and go on as though it had never happened.

Awesome.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 10:35:80.

It took longer as I started thinking at one point, which unraveled how well I was doing (I had managed to reach approximately three-hundred words about four minutes in).

A silly story, but still entertaining (I think).

大坂城 (Osaka Castle)

Here are some pictures of 大坂城, as well as some pictures taken in the area around (and near) it.

大坂城 has seen a lot, which has lead to it becoming important in Japanese history.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 68: A Guitar String Broke

Last night I tried to write some sort of “surreal” piece of fiction, but unfortunately I was a little too tired to be able to do it easily and gave up, choosing to go to bed instead as that seemed like a better idea.

Today I was playing guitar, when one of my strings broke. It unraveled near the bauble, which, all things considered, I’m quite thankful for (I’ve had a string snap and almost cut my face as it decided to launch instead of just breaking).

Still, this is somewhat saddening for me as it means that my Maton is now one string down and I will have to head out to buy more strings tomorrow if I want to keep on playing.

Until then, I am faced with the prospect of playing my seven-string.
I do like the seven-string a lot, but I have a greater preference for how the Maton sounds (it is a beautiful sounding guitar).

Maybe I can try playing it for a while with one less string, but then again, I may just fall into a pocket dimension I did not know existed, that will inevitably lead to ending up in a location in said pocket dimension where music has been outlawed as I consume the sky in a malicious effort to free myself from the shackles of the founding bastards that outlawed music for no good reason, as being shit at playing an instrument is never a sufficient reason to stop people from playing music.

Being shit at playing instruments, I would not find myself at ease of their decision, as they do not represent my views and would leave me looking bad.

I can do that myself, dammit!

Maybe I would be able to ride a rat named cat out into space instead as it will certainly give me a better perspective of how the world looks in this pocket dimension that I may or may not slip into.

Once that is done, so long as I remember to face west whilst not looking into myself and instead choosing to not disintegrate over voting “yes” for more office supplies that are inevitably going to be used to create some sort of merciless office prank, I may be able to instead find the light switch that would illuminate the way to that cheese discount I have been seeking for such a long time but been unable to find as there are no coupons that offer it for the cheeses that I want to consume.

Maybe it’s just a matter of checking out the stack of papers that represent my indulgences that I have taken up in my rebellious refusal to do the dance that makes everyone I know dance alongside me.

Then, if the helmet that I would be wearing does its job, I will be able to finally say “there is no such thing as a plan that cannot be licked”.

Wait… what?

Maybe I should just buy the guitar strings instead.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 8:49:16
Almost a whole four minutes less than the last one.

Hooray.

I’m somewhat surprised that I was able to reach five-hundred words as easily as I did, but then again, I did get a bit silly (it certainly isn’t surreal), which is most likely the reason as to why I had little difficulty.

This was written at my desk at home.

The Mark of Cain: Live at Manning Bar 04/12/2015

This one was interesting as I went to the gig drunk and sobered up before The Mark of Cain started.

A former colleague of mine was having drinks a few days before she flew home for a few weeks and I drunk far too much.

It probably influenced my opinion of the support act I did manage to catch (there were two [I think]).
I don’t know their name, sadly as whilst I thought they were lacking in some areas (mostly stage presence), I did enjoy some of their stuff and they do have talent.

The Mark of Cain were good.

End of the review.

Okay…

The Mark of Cain were good.
Once again, they played a solid set.
Whilst they didn’t sound as tight as they usually do, they were firing on all cylinders.

They played a few more songs off Battlesick and The Unclaimed Prize than they usually do.
I’m not too sure as to how the rest of the audience felt about this, but I was pretty happy to hear them do something else.

To be honest, I would have been fine if they had played the same set they did the last time I saw them, but to hear them mix it up a little bit was better.

Oddly enough, the crowd seemed mostly reluctant to be energetic.

I think this comes down to the feeling of the Manning more than anything.

Regurgitator is the only band I’ve seen there that has the majority of their audience reacting energetically to their performance.
However, I haven’t been to a Regurgitator gig that hasn’t had an energetic crowd.

I think the Manning has a more restrained feel to it than other venues as I’ve been to a lot of good gigs there but the crowd will often seem unwilling to embrace it in an energetically enthusiastic manner.

I do like the place, but that’s how I think it feels.

Anyway, yeah.

The gig was good.

Hopefully the tour this gig was a part of leads to them writing new music to add to their repertoire.
