These trees are situated in one of NSW’s state forests.
I was trying to capture the mound surrounded by the trees at an angle that captured the trees’ height and made the shot kind of look dramatic. I should’ve gone for a lower angle and aimed upward as this is a little too level to capture what I was going for.
I still like the result, however, as the trees seem to increase in their clustering the closer to the mound they are (strictly in terms of seeing the photo as being on a flat plane).

This shot was taken in Autumn and feels much like Autumn, hence my using it for this week.

Stupidity Hole 
The trees are beautiful, SH, and you can see the rise of the hill and the cluster of trees. It feels like autumn in the shot. As you say, it would be interesting to get down lower and shoot up. That would be very dramatic, I think.

Quite so. I might just do so next time I’m at this particular place, but with a tripod and play around with the shutter speed a bit.

I always think of the interconnection between the trees’ roots when I see shots like this one SH. They share resources where we can’t see it – a lesson from which we could all learn

Funny you mention that as it can be quite difficult to study underground invertebrates due to the wonders of soil, which in some ways is good, but in some ways bad.
I hadn’t thought of the roots when I took this, but I might just think about them now. Cheers for the viewpoint.

Interesting perspective, I think.
It was pretty well-lit for a forest, though this shot implies a greater density than there was at this particular spot.
