Hiroki Kikuta: Evening Star

This was easy and I think it is due to my approach here which was to sort of kind of go for imagery, but closer to a narrative… sort of. It didn’t quite work but I do like the result as this flows pretty smoothly.

Hiroki Kikuta’s (菊田 裕樹) “Evening Star” (“宵の明星”) is from Seiken Densetsu 3 Original Sound Version, the soundtrack for Seiken Densetsu 3.

I hope you enjoy.

A cool warmth sweeps over and a small place becomes realised. There is a calm and there is a comfort but something stirs in the air. It is not as though something will occur now, but there is an ominous feeling. There is something that does not sit quite right, but the strings carry the calmness forward. They carry a sense of ease and the keys that follow seem to reflect upon that.

Perhaps it is a fragility that is coming forward. As the sounds shift it certainly seems like there is a fragility. They find space and let more be bare. It is a tender moment and it presents itself in a most gentle way before the sounds continue on.

Rest remains important, but so does working toward a goal. Focus must not be stayed and so once all is done a small place is left and the song ends.

About Stupidity Hole

I'm some guy that does stuff. Hoping to one day fill the internet with enough insane ramblings to impress a cannibal rat ship. I do more than I probably should. I have a page called MS Paint Masterpieces that you may be interested in checking out. I also co-run Culture Eater, an online zine for covering the arts among other things. We're on Patreon!
