Cove Entrance

Here’s a photo of a cove entrance featuring very little of the cove.

I like this image as it’s suggests the cove rather than announces.
There’s little in the way to suggest its shape; all you have is the parts that denote an entrance.

I also like how there’s a difference in the visible parts.
The one closer is more obviously degraded, whereas the one farther away has visible vegetation and appears much less degraded. It makes me think about the types of rock and structural weakness in the area.

The space afforded by the ocean, as well as the framing almost makes the visible land feel isolated.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-eighty-third Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Memorable Events“.

Other than natural processes, this is memorable to me as it was the day I discovered issues with the car that led to its returning to the mechanic for replacing parts that are costing a significant portion of my income, leading to a rather uncertain period in terms of finance. But the view was beautiful, at least.

The host of the Lens-Artists challenges cycles weekly between the following people:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is curated by Leya. The next one is curated by Amy.

This year three people are joining the Lens-Artists team:

Sofia Alves of  Photographias

Anne Sandler of Slow Shutter Speed

John Steiner of Journeys with Johnbo

As such the above hosting order is likely to change.

I recommend participating in the challenges. They’re enjoyable and allow room for interpretation of the theme without straying too far. If you don’t participate, then I recommend that you at least check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

MCU Avengers Dream

Tony Stark walked into a bathroom. There were four milk crates and on three of them Black Widow, Thor and Captain America were sitting. Tony Stark sat down between Thor and Captain America. Black Widow was across from him; to his left was Thor, and to his right, Captain America.

Thanos had done his finger click and The Avengers felt as though they had failed. There was silence between the four that were sitting in that bathroom. Tony Stark began to cry. He then said “You know, we hate each other, but we make a good team”.

There was some other stuff said, then Thor and Captain America got up and walked off somewhere for a few minutes. Tony Stark then said to Black Widow “You’re from DC. You have an Aquaman. All we know how to do is start fires”.

It then cut to everyone fighting Thanos and Tony Stark was talking to Dr. Strange. Tony Stark asked Dr. Strange how it was going to end, to which Dr. Strange said something along the lines of “If I told you, would you go ahead with it?”

I was watching this scene and when that happened I said something along the lines of
“Why would you tell him that if he needed to go ahead with it?”

Then I woke up.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1071: I Moved Toward Fragments

The clock is ticking and I need to get the words down.

The words flow from my fingers and onto the screen through the translation of data and signals and some other things.

Maybe that is not actually, the case, but maybe it is. I don’t quite know how it works, but I have an idea. However, that is not for now, as what is for now is the writing of the things that I am writing and therefore I will keep on doing the writing so as to be able to get the writing down and on some sort of “print”.

So I sit here and it’s a nice day. Could’ve been better, but today is nice and that is more than I could have hoped for, really. Well, maybe it isn’t, but let us just say that it is. Let us also just say that I am sitting here, as I am sitting here and there needs to be some sort of consistency with all of this rambling that I am doing. It is the consistency that holds the whole thing together, and therefore there needs to be more of it and I will find a source of more consistency later.

So I sit here and I keep on rambling on about whatever it is that I am rambling on, which in this case I think is about the act of writing, and I think about how writing is something that’s really awesome and there should be a greater promotion of it. Lets you get things done and can change and shape the world. I know that this will never have that kind of impact (and by extension, the whole of this blog), but I still create whatever it is that I create and I have fun doing it, which is more than what I’d normally allow myself, or something.

Well, some fun in knowing that sometime soon this blog will come to a close, but you know.

So anyway, sitting here, writing, feeling a bit of a cool breeze and thinking I’m the most that ever was, rather than the least that never will. However, at some point there might just but only if there is not, and so therefore I must consider the alternatives if I am to truly, and verily so. Therefore, if there is a chance, then perhaps there must be.

Then again,a there always is the possibility that there isn’t, and so therefore if there isn’t, then perhaps there also is but only when, and then only if when so long as there are turning times and pivoting in a way that does not involve a pirouette. Then again, there is every chance that I’ve considered, so yeah.

Don’t want to put all of your horses in one tuba, as they say.

So I think that will all, it is time to, and so therefore I must renege and rethink the whole thing so as to be able, but then again, perhaps not.

Driving With Friends Dream

I was walked over to the mechanic that I used. I was holding my number plate and a head gasket. When I got there, there were a bunch of other people around. I asked my mechanic if my car was ready. They told me it wasn’t, so I said “alright”, gave them my number plate and head gasket and walked off.

I hopped into what looked like a small boat. It was about the size of a medium-sized car and it had a sail. I then drove off down the road as I needed to go to a place that was under an arch-shaped cover.

It was not long before I was there and I had to turn in. I almost hit a car that was speeding out and so I tried to get my timing down so I could get in without incident. I was successful in that and so I parked the boat and then walked somewhere.

I met up with a friend of mine and their partner. I was going to go somewhere with them and my partner. We all went back to where I parked and my car was there. However, there wasn’t enough space, so my friend turned into a fly and sat on a lettuce leaf so we could all fit.

We got into my car and then I started driving to where we were heading. Then I woke up.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1070: Embracing the Breeze

You sit there and you sweat a while, but there’s a nice breeze coming in and you want to embrace said breeze, but you can’t as you’re busy sweating and so you’ve got yourself caught in a conundrum. Really the only thing that can be done right now is the act of going outside and declaring to the world that you are embracing the breeze. What else are you going to do?

What else is there to do?

So there’s a little bit of a breeze coming in and you’re embracing that, but it’s not enough breeze. There is more breeze outside and so now you’ve got to go outside and do the declaration, but that of course involves navigating many things and facing many trials and tribulations.

The first one involves leaving the comfort of this chair which isn’t the most comfortable. However, it does accommodate sitting down and I do enjoy a good sit sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.

So I need to peel myself out of this chair and in doing that, I would be able to get up and do the things that involve the walking. However, I need to overcome the lethargy brought on by being relaxed and lazy and so there is a battle here that is not one, but actually two battles that I need to face and overcome.

There shall be glory found in the actions that I take, but I don’t know if I really want to embrace that. I do know that I want to get up and go outside and yell at the top of my lungs about how I will be embracing the breeze and no one can stop said embracing of the breeze. However, I need to get out there and I need to get out of this seat of occasional comfort. That there is an issue and so I need to ace that.

I need to own up to that and in owning up to that I can go from there. I need to use the muscles in me and use them in a way that allows the rising in the upward direction . However, I don’t want to go too far up as I might end up going through the ceiling. Sure, that would achieve the purpose of going outside, but that might be too excessive and I don’t want to have to fix a roof due to the issues brought on by going right through it.

There is also the landing component that I would need to consider and… well, I don’t have a trampoline, so that’s out of the question. No, I need to make sure I get out of the seat in the right way so as to be able to make sure that I can go outside via the front door afterward, and so therefore I will do it by only using my muscles to a certain extent.

Then there will other battles, but those are for another time and another day.

Rings

A photo of a few rings if you consider the walkway, its shadow and its reflection to be separate rings.

I like how the visible water almost feels like space visible after tearing something.
Maybe in this case it is revealing something closer to the truth than the shadow.

I hope you enjoy.

Junya Nakano: The Summoning

This was written over six listens.

“The Summoning” is quite short, but also quite complete in its composition. It gets across what it needs to and does so without wasting a moment. When I first started I wasn’t sure as to what I was going to try and capture here. I think I mostly went for imagery and I tried to base it off the scene in Final Fantasy X for which it is used.

Turns out I didn’t remember it as well as I hoped, but I still gave an idea. I think I could’ve included more about the mystery of the whole thing, but what can you do?

Junya Nakano’s (仲野順也) “The Summoning” (“召喚“) is from Final Fantasy X Original Soundtrack, the soundtrack for Final Fantasy X. The soundtrack was composed by Nakano, Masashi Hamauzu (浜渦 正志) and Nobuo Uematsu (植松 伸夫).

I hope you enjoy.

Sounds shimmer and draw out, coming into a clear form and becoming whole and complete. They coalesce and become fuller in their sound. Moving alongside each other as the scenery invokes a sense of success and perhaps a sense of relief. Carefully points are touched upon and something underneath lurks, shifting the tone and revealing something a little foreboding, though not all are aware.

As the sounds continue on in their motion and movement and the scene is painted, they find a final moment and so close with a sense of completion and relief, though also with some questioning at the song’s end.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1069: Unfathomable Beast

Behold! Another day is here.

This day is much like the previous day, and I’m sure that the day that comes after this current day will also be the same, if not similar. Sure, there will be some differences, but they will be immaterial until they are not immaterial, in which case they will then matter.

Maybe the differences will coalesce and become some sort of unfathomable beast that will require slaying, but who would want to do that? Maybe said beast would just want to be left alone so it can do its own thing and discover the world at its own pace.

If that is indeed the case, then who am I to interfere with such a thing? Do I really have a right to stop it and its movement and motivations and all of those other things?

Do I choose to trust such a beast? Well, yes, if it shows itself to not be malicious or mean or evil or all those other things. However, if it does not, then perhaps there would need to be some combat and restraining and a few other things that would need to be done so as to be able to ensure that it does not go on to wreak havoc, for if it did that, then there would be other issues to contend with.

There would be a lot that would need to be cleaned up and I don’t feel like doing much cleaning right now. I’d much rather not do any cleaning if I can avoid it and so I would much rather not have to do any cleaning as that would require effort, so the effort of combat would need to be undertaken so as to be able to better avoid a situation where there would need to be any cleaning.

Of course there would need to also be some sort of dialogue and debate before any combat, for any issues might be able to be resolved without the need for physical combat at all, and if so, then that would be a real delight as I’d much rather not get into a fight that involves the use of some sort of non-verbal assault. Then again, I’d rather no assault whatsoever as that isn’t that fun, if I am to be honest.

Well, maybe some people would find it fun, but I know that I would not find it fun.

Anyway, today is a day and tomorrow will be a day and yesterday was a day, but remains a day in the space known as “memory”, and I sit here and I try to not conjure any beasts as I’d rather not have to deal with any beasts, for they can be fearsome and I’m not in the mood for dealing with such as thing as it may mean I need to do some cleaning and I do not want to do any cleaning.

Maybe that will change, but right now no beasts so no worry about cleaning.

Sometimes I write stuff like this.
There’s probably metaphor spread throughout all of this, but whatever that metaphor would be, I’ve no idea.

On the Clifftop

This was taken quite recently.

I think that this photo is okay. There’s just detail to know what things are, though I feel the geology is a little too intense in its colouring.

There’s a sense of the arid, though this area certainly isn’t. I think that sense works well with the ocean being right there.

I do like the clouds and their softness in this scene.

I hope you enjoy.

Josh Johnson: Nerf Day

One listen for this one.

I ended up going for describing the song more than going for any imagery and I’m not sure why. I was getting a space-like feel at the start and I didn’t run with it; something of which I feel was a missed opportunity.

Josh Johnson’s “Nerf Day” is from Freedom Exercise.

I hope you enjoy.

Percussion plays a steady, bouncing beat whilst a sound moves in a smooth, yet seemingly wobbly manner. When the bass comes in the sounds seem to slide and move into the realm of the cool and a small groove comes forward.

Among the softness of the sounds a saxophone steps forward and plays along, adding more tone to the melody. Underneath the percussion remains steady whilst playing around with the beat.

Sounds draw out before switching to focus on the saxophone which takes a greater lead. It plays forward and perhaps with a little joy in its phrasing. Sounds behind remain quiet and supporting, keeping things anchored all flows along. The smoothness remains, as does the cool.

The saxophone pulls back and the main melody returns and slows down. The bass becomes more obvious and the music becomes more relaxed. Almost expansive.

Rather than go for a massive expansion, the music remains calm and collected and lets itself stretch out in a natural way. Sounds roll on and play with joy and ease, even on their final notes as the song ends.
