Five-Hundred Word Challenge 963: Wednesday Waffling

It is cold, though that is not surprising in the least. Of course it is cold; it currently is the season of winter, but I don’t want to go on about that as there are other things that I need to crap on about and all that other stuff and so on and so forth.

So I’m sitting here and I am writing this and, aside from my hands, I am rather warm. It is a nice warmth as it is a warmth that means that I am warm and I am thankful for that as it means I am fortunate, but that does not mean that the situation cannot be improved and all of that other stuff.

Yep; strapped for ideas on this one, so be prepared as this is going to be a rough ride.

So I sit here and I type this stuff and I wonder to myself as to why I do type this stuff as it doesn’t seem to have much of a point in existing other than to exist through the creation of my doing the writing thing.

There are other things that need to be worried about and all that jazz, but right now they don’t quite apply and so I need to think of other things out there and put them in here so that the soup of messiness comes forward and fills my belly so that I can find other things to go on about at length without really touching on any subject, but we’ll see what happens, if indeed anything happens at all, which it won’t as that is not how things work on this particular edge of that place known as Cyberspace.

Maybe it will and I’m deflecting or something. I don’t know, but I guess we’ll just have to find out and see what happens. Of course I just said that but in saying that again I get to pretend that I am reinforcing the thing that I am saying, so therefore something something and I get to the point and then once the point is explained I can move onto whatever it is that needs to be moved onto, which likely is pretending that I am crafting some grand narrative that is woven through the threads spinning from my fingers, though realistically what is happening is I am waffling and in that waffling I keep on going on about things that don’t matter so as to make them matter through sheer will of existence and…

So anyway, I wasn’t sure as to what I was going on about there and in going on about that thing I am not sure as tow hat was has led me to realising what may be and so I think I can get to the end of this bit of writing which probably would be better off left to the side, but instead isn’t so you can all read it and try to something, or not.

Maybe something, and then some.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:53:25

Not a great collection of words.

I think this is far too messy, though I guess it’s honest in a way.

Written at home.

Signs

A bunch of signs at varying distances.

I don’t have much to say about this one.
I like it for its simplicity as well as how the signs are positioned relative to each other.

I hope you enjoy.

Rusted Tank on Quiet Tracks

Some of the clouds are a bit blown out I think.

Anyway, here’s a photo of what the title describes.

This was seen at Albury station; a place I was last passing through at some rather early hour of the morning in 2006 through the medium of locomotive-based transportation.

Something about it feels a little lonely, though I don’t think the overall lighting of the image does much to help convey that loneliness.

I hope you enjoy.

Gated Burning

This photo was taken in the same area as the last one I shared for this series of challenges.

There’s something… I don’t know… maybe melancholic about this photo. Not sure, but I do know that it doesn’t have to do with the smoke from the field burning. That’s something that seems to just be there, but also has a sense of prominence and focus.

I’m content with how I framed this photo. There’s something that feels Australian about it. Might have to do with how the sunset’s colours work with the landscape, or the tall, seemingly-lonesome power pole. I think the framing also helps to capture a sense of space and distance. The idea of isolation is almost suggested.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-fifty-third Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “It’s a Wonderful World“.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

Amy is curating this week’s challenge. Next week Tina is curating.

I recommend participating in the challenges. They’re enjoyable and allow room for interpretation of the theme without straying too far. If you don’t participate, then I recommend that you at least check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

More Salvia farinacea

At least, I think this is Salvia farinacea, though admittedly my thinking that is based off this photo.

I feel as though in this photo the flowers feel like they’re reaching for something outside of the frame. Maybe they’re reaching for sunlight.

I hope you enjoy.

Crossing Sign

This was taken in the same area as this photo.

There’s a dryness to this photo, I think. Maybe it’s due to how bright some of the clouds are verses the ground. Maybe.

I think I did alright with the framing. The sign I want to draw attention to takes focus, but there’s space around it that helps give some context.

I like that you can’t see much of the tracks in this photo as it means that the believing that they’re there relies much more on suggestion than actuality, I think.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Blind Idiot God: Twenty Four Hour Dawn

This was written over one listen.
It felt rather easy to write and I think that’s due to not thinking too much about what I was writing.

I think that I captured a feel of the song that’s maybe somewhat vague. I’m not sure.

Blind Idiot God’s “Twenty Four Hour Dawn” is from their album Before Ever After.

I hope you enjoy.

A slow, warm, rumble stretches out and heaves and rolls. Well, it’s not much of a rumble so much as it is a thump at the start, followed by waves echoing.

The percussion picks up and rolls away, strident and firm. Guitar and bass continue to roll on, seemingly echoing themselves. The guitar screeches without causing pain, as warm as the rest of the expanse laid out that keeps on… well, expanding in a way.

Scenery wide and beautiful, a slight dip, then the guitar picks up. The bass and drums become more active, then the guitar shifts and plays something akin to a solo. It seems almost small in the sound, fleeting and moving at a great pace.

A return to the main notation and the song keeps on expressing some sort of… perhaps it’s a celebration, but then it starts to drop a little. Some feedback hums in and creates a sense of muting and the song, whilst in this state of calm excitement, finds itself relaxing more and coming to a sense of rest. All starts to drop out a little, leaving a brief drone.

Suddenly the song picks up and it seems as though it is charging along. Drums and bass pound away and guitar drawls. Occasionally they all lock into each other for a brief burst and there seems to be a cycle in which everything is moving. The morning has come, but it always is coming.

The flow finds a stopping point. A brief pause it is before guitar starts striking out along with bass finding its own rumble. Percussion shortly returns and builds in intensity, slowly taking up the remaining space, yet remaining clear in sound. Still the song feels celebratory.

Slowly and yet surely there is a build into something stretching out more, almost as though a constant series of waves breaking on the shoreline; almost as though the sun has risen, yet the colours it casts as is does linger for that little bit longer.

The song finds a release without necessarily announcing it and once more eases up. Contrasts between high and low continue on until the high drops away and all that is left is low and warm as the song ends.

A Poem About not Sharing a Poem

I scrapped the last thing I wrote, then churned this out.
Written in a rush, but this is a significant improvement.

Maybe decent. There are things I need to improve upon with these.

I hope you enjoy.

I had an idea
It was written out
I looked upon its being
And cast it aside

Perhaps that was incorrect
And the idea was fine
However, what I saw
Was not what I recognised

The thoughts were there
They spread meaning
Yet the words conveyed
An uneasy read

Too many words
And too many letters
Led to much waste
When less sufficed

And so now that idea
Is cast aside
To be refined
At another time

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 962: More Writing Under Time Constraints

Alright, so I’m doing that thing where I try to get six posts done in an hour, or at least as many as I can in an hour, but this time it’s within fifty minutes as I need to do photography stuff tonight and don’t have much time before I need to take off, so therefore this is going to have a lot of pressure and so I need to take that pressure and try to turn it into diamonds, or something. We’ll see what happens.

Now that I have said that, I need to work out as to what else it is that I will say. I’m already struggling and in part it is due to being cold, but it also is in part due to jumping onto this and not thinking it through. It’s not as though I haven’t had the time either. I’ve had plenty of time and now I am already struggling. Writing about struggling isn’t that interesting to me at the moment either, but still I persist and all that other stuff, so it’s a matter of hoping for the best, expecting the worst and trying to get through it all in a timely manner. Partly I hope that I can at least keep the writing speed up. If I can do that, then perhaps I will get to the end of this in one piece.

Well, I’ll get to the end of this in one piece regardless of what happens, but dramatic use of pointless drama and all that.

I need to factor in time for editing and I haven’t done that, so this really does become a flight of fancy but without much acceleration, or something. I think that I can do it, but right now it really does feel like a massive struggle that I’ve set up for myself and so I… yeah.

I don’t really know as to what I should be writing at the moment, but something is coming forward and that is a plus. It’s not great writing, but it is writing. It is warming up for a thing that I’ve set up for myself and I need to make sure that I get it all done and all that other stuff… blah blah blah and so on and so forth. I think that if I make it to the end of this, then I can keep on going, but at this point I don’t know fi I will indeed make it to the end of this.

Maybe instead of this I should focus on that and then get on with other things and repeat the cycle and hope that somehow it all makes sense in the end, but maybe I’m also thinking about it all a little too much and instead should just keep on looking forward and see where that looking forward takes me, but right now… something something and so on and so forth.

So anyway, now that this is done, it’s time for something else.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:01:93

Not a bad speed but the writing suffered a lot more than usual.

Written at home.

Shadow Over Land

This photo was taken during my recent drive from Melbourne to Sydney.
I was somewhere near Berremangra when the sun was setting and so I took what I felt was the best opportunity to stop and get photos of the sunset.

I like how the lighting feels soft here. Along with the stretch of shadow, it gives the image a quiet feel, I think. Despite appearances, that quiet feel creates a sense of the area being left alone.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-fifty-second Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Shades and Shadows“.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 4 – Tina

Leya is curating this week’s challenge. Amy is curating next week.
