One Thousand Word Challenge 61: Things at Length

Alright, here we go. I don’t know as to how long this will be at this current moment, but I guess we’ll find out once I find that I’ve reached the end of whatever it is that I am writing about at this particular morning of days.

I’ve been awake since before six in the morning. Probably should have gone back to sleep, but I woke up, became alert and found myself moving closer to not being inert. That might have to do with many factors that I may or may not be aware of and that doesn’t matter in this particular bit of text so I won’t go down that path. The main thing is I woke up a lot sooner than I had hoped and now I am tired and the shift of work is yet to begin, so today is already feeling like it is going to be a long day. However, there must be a way in which I can use that to my advantage.

I need to get a few more things done before the commencement of the shift of work, so that is a thing. I am rambling right now which is also a thing. I need to do stuff and to be honest I should not be writing at this particular juncture of time and space, but I’m a creature of habit and perhaps there will be some sort of wisdom that comes out of all of this at the end.

Well, there’s that and that my writs of the right being sore once more from too much use of the mouse, so this is also a kind of exercising at the moment, which is why the whole thing is probably going to be flat and uninspired, but I need to exercise it. However, there are probably better ways of exercising the wrist on the arm that belongs to my right side, but writing is working to some extent so I think I’ll stick with writing, unless it turns out that that is not the best thing to do, in which case I’ll still stick with writing but also do other things so as to make sure the wrist is well-stretched and well-rested. It’ll end up with far more rest than I currently have, so that might just be a good thing. Could also be a bad thing, but hopefully it will be good. Would rather good than bad.

There are a few things that I’ve been wanting to talk about for a while, but I’ve been holding off as I don’t feel I have the right words to express what it is that I want to express about said topics. However, there may be a time when I’m going to have to ignore that lack of proper phrasing and effective wording in the form of sentences that make sense in order to make the point that I want to make. I don’t think that I could do a better job than anyone else; I just want to say certain things about current events, but would rather I say them properly instead of in a form that looks like a complete and utter mess, such as this bit of text once I have finished it off.

Well, now that I’ve got that out of the way I don’t know as to what else I can convey in this particular morning. I’m tired. I need to do things. There are things that I want to say but feel I should wait until I can say them better. That pretty much sums up the whole thing. I guess there is no more else to say at the current moment other than I need to water my plants so they can be healthy and keep on thriving. I feel as though I should try and be the best possible me that I can today, but we’ll see how the customers bring that down today. Work is not going to be fun, but it will be a thing that I need to deal with. Probably going to be a test of perseverance today, depending on how things go of course.

Looking for another job (still), but nothing I can do safely (given the current climate) about so the hunt continues. Maybe I’ll return to university. Maybe I’ll do that. Continue my education. Hope that I don’t end up having small meltdowns again. There is always hope and with the strength of conviction and action behind the conviction, there is always a chance of getting things done in as safe a way as possible, assuming the means are available. I guess there need to be the steps taken. Or something.

Anyway. I think that I’ve gone on for far too long at this point so I guess I should look at trying to wrap this all up. Work starts soon and I need to get moving on if I want to make sure that I get in on time and am as ready as possible. With that being said, there still is a bit of space left to go and If I am going to wrap this up I need to think of my closing words that will help bring this all to a close. I don’t know as to what I am going to say. This has just been rambling all morning for the last however long I’ve been writing, of which I am currently unsure, so I guess well see how this ends within the next few sentences.

Anyway, with that all out of the way I hope you have enjoyed this small ramble. If you haven’t, well, I hope you at least decided to read the whole thing. Maybe you checked out and that too is fine. It’s a bit of a mess, but it’s also incredibly banal. Realistically, it’s the same as I always write, but perhaps a little less fantastic.

Oh well. I’ll just move onto other things for the next few minutes.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 10:35:93

I made quite a few spelling mistakes as I wrote this lengthy ramble. Hopefully I’ve cleaned them all up (as well as any extraneous characters).

This is a pretty rambling and messy bit of writing. I moved through it pretty fast but I think I was a little too active in my thinking and as a result the writing suffered more than usual.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 757: A Walk This Morning

And now the timer has started and I’m just warming up.

Went for a walk this morning. There were two reasons.

The first is that I need to get back into walking so that I can get back into bushwalking and now have things go wrong due to a lack of fitness over anything else. This is something that I consider as being quite important. It also means that I will be able to cycle without things going wrong that are related to fitness so long as I stick to doing the walking and don’t just drop off and procrastinate for a while. I think that’s a pretty good reason, but I think I’ve talked about that for just a little too long at this point so I feel that it is pertinent to move onto the next reason, which in the instance of this particular walk is just as valid a reason if I do say so myself, which I just did, so there.

The second reason is that I’ve been meaning to head to a particular spot to get some photos of trains once more. Need to get out and do more walking so I can take more photos in general, but this was a particular spot that I wanted to visit and visit it is exactly what I did.

So I headed out and went to  the spot and took some photos. It was a walk of power, so I got there a little fast than I thought I would. When you walk with power, you are power walking which is a thing that involves walking with power. It meant that I reached my destination earlier rather than later and thus could hang around there and get a few photos. Certainly got a few. Was happy with them, then left.

Of course, now I am home as soon I start work so I need to be ready for the starting of work. However, I also want to go through these photos without being interrupted, but that will have to wait. I think they are good now, but in the processing is when I will be able to tell better (I think). There will need to be some work done on them to make sure they look as good s I can make them based on my current skill set (among other things, of course).

So now that I’ve said all of this, I need to move on toward the next point which is the bit about walking. If you can do it, you should do it. It is free exercise. It gets out out and gets you moving. I know that sometimes it is good to stay inside (and realistically you should avoid as  much human contact as possible at the current moment, especially if you are in a heavily-affected area based on the current pandemic), but you also need to make sure that you are getting out and giving yourself a bit of space where possible.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:11:07

So with this I was moving quite fast as I was writing but then I slowed down.

Also, I wrote this about ten hours ago. However, work was incredibly busy, so it goes up now.

Not a great writing, but it was fun to write.

Cockatrio

Three cockatoos I saw a few weeks ago whilst walking home.

I think this photo is about space and form. I do like that the cockatoos have different positions (wing-wise) to each other.

I also like how small they feel whilst also feeling quite prominent.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 756: Going Through Some Photos

I was meant to do a little bit of editing this afternoon.

This morning was spent conducting the acquisition of more flora using the material known as currency, as well as earth for which to fill receptacles in which other flora reside. That was the morning. That was done. Sorted.

Then I was meant to do a bit of editing. However, before that bit of editing I was going to go through some photos I took many a year ago to send through to a friend for them to peruse so as to give them an idea of a place they want to visit beyond what they already know, which I imagine is already a fair bit, but sometimes images do help, so yeah.

Somewhere around seven thousand; going to whittle it down to around one hundred. Should be easy. Shouldn’t take too long; only about an hour. No biggie.

Many, many hours later and now I have to stop. I can’t keep looking at these photos for now. I need a break. It was too much. Once more I have overestimated my ability to get through many images in one sitting. I imagine that if I had started earlier on in the day than when I had I wouldn’t be feeling this kind of fatigue that is the fatigue that I just so happen to be feeling right now, but sometimes that is the way things go.

I’m tired. I’m worn out. I brought it upon myself but I want to blame everyone and everything else. Not my fault. The fault of that which I am able to point my fingers toward.

Now I need to unwind but all I can think of is looking at more photos. I have seen to many and I need to see more and it is a cycle of which I cannot escape. Oh, woe is me! How am I to keep on keeping on if all I see are photos of which I need to get through and they never seem to end? How am I meant to peel myself away and force myself into a state of rest if there is a task that is yet to see its completion, thus leaving it unfulfilled and finally finished?

This is a conundrum and I don’t think that it will easily be solves. There is so much to do and so little time in which it can be done and there are photos that need the going through and I don’t know what to do and this is a thing that I need to deal with as I dug the hole and the only way out is by getting out of the hole, but that is a concept unable to grapple I am and so I can only work out what to do by doing the working out.

Actually, I think I can rest. Starting to wind down. It was a long day of looking at things (well, afternoon), and tomorrow it resumes.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:21:37

Before I started writing I got the idea to write about what I had been doing for a good part of today.

I felt that currently I wasn’t able to stretch the whole thing out enough so I decided it would be a good idea to be melodramatic.

Playing Pedals

Another shot of Taka of MONO.

I really like this photo, though I’m not quite sure why.

Other than the obvious, I feel as though there’s something human about it, so maybe that’s why I like this photo.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

One Thousand Word Challenge 60: Filling Space

The morning beckons, I am awake, there are things that need to be done and I’m starting off with this, so you should already know as to what all of this means, blah blah blah and so on and so forth. Regular start to one of these writings.

That all said, I feel quite awake this morning. Probably because I received a bit more of a sleep than usual. I imagine that that would have an impact on the restfulness of my being rested. you get the idea.

So anyway… no, actually I might dwell on the being less tired than usual. Maybe for a few more sentences, at the very least. This is going to be a long writing after all, so I need to pad the thing out as much as I can so that there is less space to worry about filing by the time I finish whatever it is that I am trying to write about. Anyway.

So I feel much more rested than usual and this has a bit to do with going to sleep a little earlier than usual. I hear (and read) about people being tired as they get older and I’m not sure as to why they are, though I’m pretty sure I can hazard  a guess that might be close to the proverbial mark. Don’t know if I would be, but I think I would be close. However, I’m not going to try and theorise about that right now as I’m going to talk about me this morning (though how that is different from other mornings, I do not know [though sometimes it is different and I do talk about other things, but that’s getting away from the topic at hand, even though I don’t really have a topic at hand, but you get the idea so I’m going to end this noting of something that is doing little else other than taking up space]) because that is what I feel like talking about.

Perhaps that should be “who” rather than “what”.

So I slept pretty well last night. Woke up a little sore, but still slept well. I feel tired, but rested at the same time. Sleep debt takes a long time to pay off after all; especially if you spent a lot of the past decade getting less than an ideal amount of sleep each night.

Anyway, I’ve got this confluence of feelings of fatigue and feelings of rest and I know that it’s going to take a little bit of time for the fatigue to go away. Am going to need multiple nights in a row where I sleep for what might be considered an acceptable amount of sleep; especially compared to the past few nights were sleep has been less than what I hoped to get.

this extra bit of sleep that has me feeling rested helped out as it meant I got out of bed sooner this morning. That is a good thing as it means I could bring the lavender and another plant inside sooner rather than later as it started raining shortly before I woke up. Trying to not have the lavender (and other plant) die off as I’ve had enough lavenders die due to my being rather not great at taking care of them, though they’ve lasted longer and longer each time, so I’m learning.

The plus side of all of this is that the other plants are getting rained upon and they (mostly) are plants that like water more than t hey don’t. There is one out there that isn’t the biggest fan of being overly-hydrated, but it won’t die off if it gets too much… at least, at the current stage that it currently exists within. When this particular plant gets a bit bigger, then water will need to be better measured out for its survival.

So I didn’t think that I’d end up spending a couple of paragraphs talking about plants, but there you go. It’s now in there. It is there for all to see. Can’t go back on that and that is fine. Need to go forward, not backward. Need to try and find out where all of this will lead. Need to try and think relaxed thoughts as soon work begins and I’m not looking forward to eight hours of people getting angry for being told we can’t do something, despite them having to listen to a message before they even come to the phone menu saying that we cannot do stuff at the current moment. Oh well. Small things, big things. This is just a thing.

I guess that now that I have that out of the way I should try and think of something else to cover, but I don’t think I will. Just trying to fill space. Need to fill soil in for one of my plants as there was not enough spoil to fill its new pot (I may have mentioned this recently; I cannot remember at the current moment), Maybe instead of doing anything else with this text, I will just take it easy for the next however long I have left. Just relax, take it easy. Sit back and enjoy the sound that is coming from the speakers of my laptop. Do things and think things and make things happen. Spread the magic. Create a sense of wonder.

Well, I need to keep getting ready for work so none of that is likely to happen. Rather spend time working on the backyard. It’s raining but because it is raining my pulling out weeds suddenly becomes more dramatic, emotional and cathartic. There comes the realisation as what the rain brings is a symbolic sense of freedom from all the chains that bind me. It washes away all the pain and suffering and after it has done everything it has done whilst I was screaming during its downpour (whilst working on the garden), the world begins anew and life comes forth once more.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 13:25:80

I wrote this before starting work. I’m almost six hours into my shift and only now able to get it uploaded. Not complaining; just pointing out how busy it is at the moment.

Anyway, I wrote this and it came out the way it did.

Anderson .Paak and His Audience

More Anderson .Paak and this time in a very red photo (prior-shared shots here and here).

I really like how the colour came out and how it works with what is visible. It helps to bring forward the passion and energy of both the audience and Anderson .Paak, I think.

The shot feels lively in part due to the aforementioned passion and energy, but I think it’s also due to a clear display of audience and artist engagement and enthusiasm. Anderson .Paak didn’t have to work hard to get people moving, but he still did. The audience responded in kind and that engagement really comes across.

This photo was taken for Culture Eater. You can find a review of Anderson Paak’s performance here and the corresponding gallery here. Please go check them out, as well as the other stuff that our contributors are contributing.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s TPM photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this challenge is “Given to you”.
I’ve included this shot as (somewhat-related to the theme) the opportunity to shoot gigs is one given to people. Also, Anderson .Paak gave a great experience, which I feel is something more clearly representative of the theme.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 755: Eye Messages

There’s a muscle twitch in my eye. Not unusual, though perhaps today it is. You see, right now it is twitching in what appears to be a highly-perceptible pattern and that concerns me. Normally if it is going to twitch it is in a random pattern, but this seems almost like Morse code is being tapped out (depending on how much you want to read into things, of course, but the pattern is there, I swear) and that is the oddest of things. What could this mean? How does it mean? Where does it mean? These are questions, but this is all concerning stuff overall, really.

I don’t know what is going on and it does not seem to stop. Okay, to clarify, it certainly does stop at random intervals and pauses for random amounts of time; or, at least that is how it seems to the outside world. You see, I can tell that these pauses and stops are measured out. There is a signal being received, which must mean that there is a signal being sent. I can’t shake the feeling that there is something going on that would not normally be going on. It seems as though my eye is sending out a message to someone or something and a message is being received in response. I don’t know what the message is, for I do not understand Morse code, but I know that the patterns could not be anything but Morse code. If they were random muscle spasms, then they would not be behaving the way that they are behaving.

The thing is the messages could be about anything. It concerns me that I do not know what they are as they could literally be about anything. In knowing that messages are being sent from and to my eye and my eye belongs to someone who does not understand Morse code, then it is quite likely that these messages are ones of subterfuge in order to lead to some sort of thing that might just compromise my being.

What if these messages are shared between many a people who do not understand Morse code? If that is indeed the case, then is it likely that there is a grand likelihood of some sort of conspiracy? Is there some sort of system in play that uses these signals poorly disguised as twitches in order to send messages through to a small, yet elite group of operatives in order to coordinate some sort of massive event that will lead to significant changes that we cannot back away from? Is there something that they are looking to make sure remains hidden, so they do it through some sort of innocuous-looking act so that no one will question what is going on?

This is all rather concerning stuff and it is something we need to get to the bottom of. We need to find the source of this conspiracy so that it can be dismantled with effective, powerful efficiency, posthaste.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 08:07:97

I started getting a twitch in my right eye shortly before I commenced the writing of this. Somehow I manged to pull some sort of story out of that. Not great, but I do enjoy the silliness.

Circular Quay Station During Rainfall

I didn’t share this photo closer to when I took it as I kind of forgot about it.
It isn’t anything particularly great, but I like how flat the photo feels.
However, I really like the contrast between light levels. Outside of the shelter the station provides it’s raining, but (despite the cluttering) the area feels quite spacious. It’s much more dry under the shelter, but the lower light makes the area feel more restrictive.

The pylon also helps with that, now that I think about it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 754: Gardening

So a couple of hours earlier I put a small tree in a new pot. Its roots were starting to come out of the old pot it was in, so it was time to move it into something a little bigger. Hopefully it keeps growing strong, but also hopefully it does not get too big. I’d rather still be able to have it be at a manageable height, though it is already taller than I am, so I guess… we’ll see what happens?

Gardening is fun. Gardening is awesome. It is many things. It is also frustrating, tiring and aggravating, but it is mostly fun and awesome. Being able to work on something over a period of time and produce something that, if you so desire, gives back to you in spades is great. So is just the act of doing the gardening. It can take a lot of energy out of you. It can wear you down and get you really sweaty. It’s like doing a workout on both yourself and whatever it is that you are growing.

Gardening takes a lot of time. Sometimes it can take years of work before you get to a point where it’s all just maintaining stuff. Probably will take a lot less time than that if you know what you’re doing and don’t need to worry about moving house, but even so, it does take time. It takes time and effort, unless you decide to go down the route of hiring people to do the work for you, which of course has its own positives and negatives, but right now I’m just trying to focus on the positives of working on a garden as just yourself, as well as perhaps some housemates and friends on the odd occasion that you’re able to rope them into helping (unless of course they help willingly, which is a different story altogether, so yeah, or something).

Recently I’ve been getting back into weed removal as, whilst most of my current backyard is concrete, a lot of wees grow through cracks. There’s also a small patch of grass off to the side that I want to remove and plant something both shade and drought-tolerant in, as that will mean slightly less management to worry about, though admittedly whilst it can be quite frustrating to go digging into stuff and pulling it out for hours on end, I’d rather focus on the weeds in the cracks rather than the weeds that are quite easy to remove.

There is also some re-potting going on. It’s all a slow process, but a progressing process nonetheless.

The great thing about gardening is that it works well with patience. Seldom it is where you can rush a garden and have it at the point you’d want it to be. You have to put a lot of work into one, but eventually, with enough time and care and patience, that work pays off.

Gardening is a process that rewards by a significant amount.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:00:15

Felt like writing about gardening today. Not sure if what I wrote reads well, but I think at least the passion comes across.
