Five-Hundred Word Challenge 687: Cold Day

There was meant to be walking in the bush this morning. However, the unfortunate need of sleep after a night spent not being able to sleep at the time I usually sleep, thus delaying my sleep meant that the plans of this morning are unfortunately postponed until a future date, thus rendering me in a position to take care of other things, whatever those things might just happen to be within this current climate of things being done and the doing of things so that they are done.

Anyway, it.’s cold, blah blah blah and I need to find something else to talk about, but of course we’re not going on that journey so instead I’ll just express a few things in no particular order:

It is a cold day and yet some areas feature a great amount of heat. That heat should be nurtured to push away the cold and thus create a warmer environment.

That being said, we need to be careful of the idea of controlling the weather. When I’m talking about creating a warmer environment, I mean areas that are meant to be warmer at this present time but for some reason are possessed with an extremely biting cold that seems so relentless in its desire to keep holding on and spreading outward which is something that needs to be prevented. It is far more destructive than it is beneficial to all life.

The more we act in bringing back some warmth and letting it spread outward, it’ll help many, but it needs to help those who need it most first.

Well, that was really just one thing and I don’t have much else to say. It’s a cold, cold day and there needs to be a bit more warmth. There seems to be some growing and I hope that it really spreads and takes off and gets rid of all the cold for a little while as that way it can be warmer for everyone, but again, those that need it most should get that warmth first.

Well, I think with that being said I should work on something else. There are photos to process and there are reviews to write. There is talking to do and there are many other things out there that I need to take care of. Still, writing is good and fun and enjoyable and I will continue to do so until I can think of nothing else to write, though realistically I could be using my writing time to write about things that involve the discussing of pieces of media in order to dissect them in a messy way and pretend that I’m doing a good job of a critic, but before then I would rather the spread of warmth and its removal of this weird coldness that has come down upon many things due to the change of seasons and other issues compounding upon those changes in a way that just does not make much sense to me.

Thought I’d be able to write about the cold faster than that.

Oh well.

Movement Through Air

The same flock of rock doves as this one.

I think this photo gives a strong impression of motion and form.

I really like how there’s both the shapes of the individual rock doves, as well as the overall flock. They help give the impression of movement as a group, I think.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Courtney Taylor-Taylor

So I like this image mostly due to it being mostly a silhouette. Shape takes over the image and all that stuff.

I also like it as the red is really strong and it doesn’t follow the usual kind of coolness that The Dandy Warhols are perceived as having. It’s a kind of ominous, brooding image in a way, I think.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 686: Time for Laziness

I’ve got to do something with this day. If I don’t then it is another waste of a day and that is something that I want to avoid.

I also want to avoid complaining about customers. There were some good ones and there were some rather horrible ones. In other words, today was a work day and it went the way that most of my work days seem to go.

Well, I’m sitting here and relaxing and all that jazz and still waiting for my ear to get better so I can go back to working on some stuff, but these things take time, because of course they do and all that other stuff. So I sit and I wait and I prepare to put on some slippers sooner rather than later. Maybe after this I will process some photos, but I’m not entirely sure as to whether I will do anything or nothing at the moment. Maybe I’ll do both and neither at the same time and find a way to strike the ultimate balance so that everything all works out and I find whatever it is that I’m looking for, even though there is nothing that right now I am looking for. However, I’d very much like it if one of the wheels on my chair would fix itself rather than require manual dexterity coming from my ability to perform manual dexterity, as I very much don’t feel like doing it at this present time. I’d much rather sit here and stare out into the infinite nothingness than fix wheels at the moment, though perhaps I really should as it might be having an impact on how I’m perceiving everything around me as there may now be a slight angle incurred on my existence that should not exist whilst I sit here, so perhaps I should deal with it.

Knowing that if I do get up, I’ll probably just go to bed instead however as that might seem like a better idea than trying to fix a wheel at this hour. There I can read and do other things until I am whisked away into a slumber of length that allows me to rest and recharge so that tomorrow when I wake up I can think about things and do things and then procrastinate for a little while. It’s a nice cycle, now that I think about it.

Maybe I should cycle instead of anything else, but it’s cold and dark and I’m lazy and I don’t want to do anything at all. Wait. There are things that I want to do but I don’t want to do them now as right now the time to be lazy is at hand and as such I need to be lazy so that I can remain being lazy. It’s a lot of hard work but I’m sure that if I stick to it all, I can achieve whatever it is that…

No. I’m just going to be lazy right now.

Happy with the speed, but I think I could’ve cut down on a few things and included some other stuff.

Casuarina glauca

A beautiful tree that appears to be moved by the breeze.

I like the form of the tree as it seems as though it has a lot of mass. It almost seems stylised. A lot of that has to do with the numerous branchlets, I think.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s TPM photo challenge for this week.

The theme for this challenge is “Wind”.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Droplet Fall

A rather simple photo, I think.

Small droplets from the rain falling from the underside of part of the roof of the place in which I live.

I think there’s a pattern in the positioning. At the very least there is a sense of repetition, and both stillness and motion.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 685: The Craunch

Loud and with a crunch all is trampled underfoot. Perhaps it would be better to say that there was the process of craunching underway. It doesn’t matter too much, however, as this was merely one action of a series of actions. Those that proceeded this one were significantly longer and much more important. They were more thought out and needed that thinking in order to actually work as otherwise there could have been a series of grave errors and no one wants to make a series of mistakes when they feel as though something is important and that thing that is important needs to be addressed in as serious manner.

That said, the craunching did indeed take place. It did not deserve the focus that it received, but of course this was not something that could be escaped, for even meaningless actions sometimes get far more focus than necessary.

There is the act of the expenditure of energy in order to achieve the craunching. There would need to be motion that moved through space and time in possibly more than one direction in order to get to the final location which would lead to that which was trodden underfoot firmly and thoroughly craunched. In order to do that, muscles would need to be manipulated in a certain manner so as to make sure that the action was a success, of which they were; thus success was at hand and the foot thoroughly craunched with an efficiency far greater than that of which was to be expected at that particular time of which just so happened to be before twilight. The colour of the sky was moody and the shadows of the forests nearby were drawn long and reaching whilst the action of craunching took place. There was a cool breeze that carried itself through woodlands and out toward places unknown and one person seeking to create some sort of series of actions that required precision and concentration merely acted on the first, most insignificant one and that just so happened to be the one that ended up being the one that was most consumed by those who were in the know of this process series that was happening, though they weren’t to find out until much later, for they were not there during the time of the actions happening. They only found out through the explanation of the actions.

However, the craunching ended up getting more explanation despite its relative lack of importance. It was an action that seemed so complete in its execution and so natural a process. It lacked the thinking that all the other actions required; it was completely reflexive, precise and efficient. It merely ended up the first action in a series of actions purely by happenstance, but it dominated everything following, and not by choice either. It just so happened that that was the way things ended up turning out and there was little that could be done to move that focus to another action.

Wonderfully silly writing from a person who needs to rest more than they need to write right now.

I guess if I was writing I needed to write more. Maybe.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 684: Buzzing of the Mower

Cold and soon it all begins but the buzzing of the mower won’t stop buzzing out and carrying through the air and into my window which right now I need to leave open as there’s a bit of a moisture building of the up on the other side so air needs to pass through so as to dry the moisture as I’m too lazy to go and get a towel. Closing the window does not solve the issue of the mower and so the only thing I can do is wait it out in the hopes that it ends sooner rather than later. It is too early in the morning for this kind of activity, even though it isn’t too early at all. I just want to claim it is as that makes me feel better and more superior about my ability to be pretend to be superior in some way.

And now it has stopped and of course the day can resume. It is no long being pulled apart by some cutting, buzzing sound that seems to exist only in order to break the peace and bring in a sense of disturbance into this planet we refer to as the planet on which we just so happen to live on whilst it travels in some sort of manner that we understand in some other manner, I think.

With that all being said, of course there are things to do and I am just the person to do them. Will I do them? Maybe. It still is too early in the day to tell if there will be any progress made. However, I do know that there will be the doing of some things, but they may not be the things of which I want to do. I guess that is the way some things go, as opposed to all things. If it were all things, then I don’t know. I do know that so long as that buzzing decides to not come back and crackle out into the air and reach for my window, then I’m going to have a fine day as I don’t need to go out there and yell at the sound in order to get it to stop.

Of course, if that does indeed become the case, then I’ll still probably just stay inside and be a little bit miffed about having to briefly tolerate something that I don’t want to deal with. Sometimes that is the way things go, but them’s the breaks and I’m sure that eventually, given enough time I’ll be able to survive. Of course I’d just rather be out and away from the city right now, but work demands that I stay firmly planted in my residence at the moment as there needs to be the doing of the things there, as well as the dealing with the inquiries from customers who have them and of course that gets money which helps me eat, so that needs to be addressed.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:12:39

Kind of fast. Kind of rambling. Kind of merely okay… maybe.

Shades and a Coat Hanger

I was trying to capture this scene in a certain way. I won’t say how as I’m going to head back out to this spot and take the photo again; hopefully closer to how I want to capture the scene.

So this shot shows a bunch of shades framing light on their surfaces. Beyond them lies The Sydney Harbour Bridge. Due to perspective it almost appears as though it’s twisting a little bit.

Other than three boats the scene appears as though it is quiet. I’m pretty sure it was at the time of taking the photo.

This is my submission into the ninety-ninth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Old and New“.

The shades have been at this spot for a long time, but compared to The Sydney Harbour Bridge, they are quite new.

Now that I think about it, their design style seems different to the bridge which leads to a stronger indication of coming from a different era.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is hosted by Amy. Next week it will be hosted by Tina.

I recommend giving the challenges a go and seeing how you interpret each theme. I also recommend checking out what other people are doing to meet the challenges.

I hope you enjoy.

Station Rows

When I took this photo I was trying to show the emptiness of what normally is a busy station. I think some of that came through, but this shot mostly is about the the rows of objects it shows.

It feels quite linear, I think.

The photo might be a little too moody for such a simple scene, but then again, perhaps not. I’m not sure.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
