Five-Hundred Word Challenge 388: Sydney is Waking up

The early morning, dark it is at this hour.

There are birds that can be heard at some distance, making the sounds a bird does as the sunlight gradually reaches over this side of the planet in order to illuminate all that is for a period of time.

The sound of a bike can be heard as someone leaves earlier than they usually would in order to get to work a little sooner. Perhaps it is a busy day for them.

The sound of cars cannot be heard, but it gradually increases as more and more people wake up and make their way to wherever they need to be for the day.

Sydney is waking up and making a lot of noise the farther into the morning it grows.

People will rush about and look down, but some will look up and make sure that they know where they are going and into whom they will walk.

The buses will merge with the traffic onto main roads and flow along at a pace that has no rhythm that is easy to perceive, for there will be much stopping and starting at undetermined points all along the journey into the city.

Buildings will cast long shadows that will not be perceived as being as such by the people that walk through them, for it is how the city usually is seen.

Many will head to work, may will head to somewhere for recreation, and many will head to some location of education for a multitude of reasons.

Some people will stay at home for another multitude of reasons.

There is much to be done and the time in which to do it is always limited, so many will make the most of their day in order to accomplish their goals for which they have set out ahead of them.

However, there will be many others who shall choose to slow down and instead do much less than they normally would, for they need to relax a bit more than they have in recent times.

There are many who make up the fabric of  the city and they will all find something to do today, whether it be a lot of as little as possible.

The traffic still remains low despite the increase in levels, but there will still be those who find it troublesome to navigate. Some will express patience, whereas others shall express frustration and fury and will drive dangerously due to a complete lack of discipline. One day they may realise that they are not the only ones who are making a trip to a destination and on that day they will finally calm down and accept that the road is not just for them.

People commute and the city shall remain busy for many an hour, for it will be dark once more when the city is no longer a busy place.

However, like the day, this time is fleeting, for the sun will pass the horizon again.

Probably a bit too dramatic.

Curving

Behold, a photo taken somewhere in the forest area of Smiths Lake!

I think that this angle makes for an interesting image.

The tree seems to be moving away from somewhere out of the frame.

I like the way the shade along the tree adjusts the details of the bark.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 387: There Was A Forest

There was a forest and within that forest were many a tree and on each tree were many a habitat and ecosystem containing many upon many invertebrates, each supporting their way of life and some indirectly supporting each other through their vast journey around the sun.

In the forest with the trees was a stream that turned into a river at points and in that river was life sustained quite well. There was a push and pull, but otherwise balance was well-maintained and there was little reason to panic or change the way that the life had operated.

One could say that this was a place that sustained life well. Of course, in many many thousands of years from then, this could change, but in this particular point in time, there was little to be concerned with for life was sustained and the forest was untouched.

There were birds, there were insects, there were fish, there were many creatures.

It was a place to live and in this place that was so untouched it was to remain that way.

Of course, eventually people went in to explore and discover what lay in the impenetrable, but true to that word, the people were unsuccessful in getting in and discovered nothing.

There were attempts to survey with drones, but other than a few small open pockets, there was no way to discover what lay within the boundaries. The forest was safe. The trees remained untouched. The stream that became a river remained full and the inhabitants remained fine.

When a tree fell due to whatever reason it would fall, eventually one or more would grow to fill in the space. Of course, it took many a year before the space was once again covered, but it would eventually be filled.

Over time, the forest eventually shrank. It took a long time, but its mass and vastness decreased and eventually people were able to find a way in.

Many a species that was not known to the world was discovered and many a person was ecstatic.

Many years passed by and eventually the city that was nowhere to be seen grew closer and closer, until it bordered the forest.

There was a need to fight for space, for the city needed to expand its bordered further and going around was not, in its mind, something that could be considered, so it was not long before the city and its denizens began moving over the forest.

Many a tree went down and much of the land lay bare.

Once the stream was reached, many of the people realised what was being done in the name of the city and so they designated some of the area as parkland in order to help preserve some of the forest and the wide open spaces with only a few small pockets of trees, as it had always been.

And thus they then could remain content that the forest was quite successfully preserved as it had once appeared.

Started dull, kind of remained dull.

Feels like an improvement, if only by a small amount.

Sussex Street

This was taken whilst doing a few more test shots of one of the newer lenses.

I think that the depth is a little better on this photo than some of the other recent ones I’ve taken.

I like that many of the cars have lined up in one lane despite both turning lanes leading to the exact same area.

I also like the way that the lights illuminate the scene.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 386: Early Morning Wake

Stop. What am I doing? I need to wake up. I need to stop letting myself get distracted. It’s early in the morning, or so many would say. It’s not seven yet, but it is after six.

I woke up early so I could get stuff done and yet here I am, sitting down and browsing stuff on the Internet. I need to get to writing.I need to process photos. I need to wake up a bit more. I need to start getting ready for the day that lies ahead down the path that I will be traipsing down very shortly.

I need to make sure that I can conquer the day with relative ease.

So I chose to wake up early today, despite my going to bed late as I’ve been letting the hours slip by me a little too much.

There was once a time where I was waking up early and getting stuff done and instead I now usually wake up early and get little to nothing done.

I think I’ve become a little too relaxed about things.

There was kind of…

I don’t know where I was going with that sentence.

So I’m awake and doing things and letting myself get a little more distracted than I should be. Perhaps it is a sign that I need to work on getting my focus back.

I need to work on going to bed a little earlier as well.

There’s many thing that I need to work on in order to continue on the path of improvement.

There’s also a lot of things that I need to work on in order to do more things that I want to do.

Need to stop wasting so much time doing nothing.
Need to work on improving the skills that I have.

Need to work on my ability to spell when I type really fast.

Need to work on getting breakfast soon, for I will be hungry and being hungry without food is not fun.

In setting an alarm this morning and waking up early, I have been able to start doing some things, but letting myself get distracted is hampering my ability to get things done.

Still, it’s a start and hopefully one that I can keep going.

Will this see an improvement over time? Possibly.

I don’t know what else to say. I thought that this would finish off the whole thing quite nicely, but I’ve run out of things to say on the subject and still think that I need to finish this off as one of my challenges. Oh well. I’m sure that I will have something that will help fill the void of words soon enough.

I’m sure that something will come along that will help make this post a little more complete than it currently is, but I’m not sure on the amount of wait time that will be before that happens.

Hopefully it comes soon. If not, then who knows how this will end?

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:46:05

Not as easy as I hoped to write, but that was mostly down to the joy of wrist pain.

HUZZAH!

So I need to work on improving the quality of these whilst typing fast at the same time. I think I’ve locked myself into one subject for far too long. This is kind of a step in the right direction.

Rock at Seal Rocks

Another field trip photo.

Taken during a brief break from field work.

The clouds appear to billow out from behind this bit of land, cutting and segmenting the sky whilst underneath vegetation grows in a way that seems to be resisting wind patterns the least, and water flows, rises and falls.

I do like how the waves appear in this shot as well as the detail and colour balance.

I also like how the different textures compliment each other in this scene of nature.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 385: Another Year Older

So a few days ago (Monday, to be precise) I became one year older and now that I am one year older that means that I am angrier about everything forever, as it extends to the plains beyond all reasonable doubt.

I’m also finding that my typing has gone down the proverbial drain.

What am I doing? What happened to my speed and finesse?

Anyway, it was not that interesting a day. I went to university, I recorded a video of me playing guitar whilst wearing a horse mask and a dress. You know, the usual things.

I spent the rest of the week being ill and working on university things and being ill and working on university things… you get the idea.

So it was a birthday for the ages and now I am sitting at work wondering what happened to the week. It felt far longer than it was and that may be due to my being ill for a couple of days. I do not know.

I know that there are things that I need to work on and get finished before the end of the weekend in order to get other things done during the week.

All this getting old has left me being busier than I thought that I would be.
Such is the way of life.

I thought things were meant to slow down as I became rich for no real reason whatsoever. Instead I become busier and busier. I want more free time. I want to be much more lazy than I already am.

Why must I do the things that I do?

Why?

That is the question of the day and there are no ages in which it can be reasonably answered.

Wait. What is the question?

I do not know. I’m not even really paying attention tow hat I’m writing right now, but then again that is the normal procedure around here.

So I got a year older, got sick a couple of days later and am now at work writing loudly once more.

Well, typing.

But here I am, typing away and thinking about the fact that I am classified as being one year older as I slowly slip further into juvenile behaviour.

Or is it mature behaviour?

I do not know.

I do know that my birthday has come and gone and there are things that must be done this year in order to get more things done than those that were done last year, if that makes any sense.

There will be more writing and more photography, and hopefully more recording of music in order to create sounds that could be classified as being pleasing or displeasing to the aural cavities.

There will be ups and downs and there will be adventures of interest over the next twelve months.

How will they occur? There is only one way to find out. You must stay tuned.

That way you can follow the thread the whole way through the journey.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:39:43

Well, this was sub par.

I thought I would do better, but I was wrong. Oh well.

Oyster on the Rolling Sand

Taken last year whilst at Huskisson.

This is a fairly small area, but I think that due to little frame of reference it feels much larger.

Maybe it has to do with the shadows.

I think that the oyster sitting there also helps make this image almost feel “Out of This World“.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

A Cluster of Buildings

Whilst heading to Centrals the other day I took this photo.

That sums it up nicely, methinks.

I think the layering creates a nice idea of the scale of some of these buildings, but I do wish I had let the focus be a bit more even across the image.

Oh well.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.

I strongly recommend checking it out to see what other people have submitted, as well as checking out Leanne’s work outside of M.M.

I also recommend submitting and being part of M.M. It’s a fun, community-driven event.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 384: Another Return From Smiths Lake

Well, I’m back from the recent field trip back to Smiths Lake, although it would be more accurate to say that I have returned.

Actually, it would not probably be more accurate to say that.

Either way, I am back. Got back during Friday afternoon and am only writing about it now, for I have been lazy and resting and dealing with other things in life and would rather let all of this write itself rather than write it myself, but you cannot win them all, or so they say.

I do know that I am back at uni right now, sitting down and typing away.

The field trip was fine. It was enjoyable. It was not enough to sway my feelings on being at university, but it was still enjoyable for what it was and at this point what the field trip needed to be was enjoyable.

Did I learn a lot? Probably not.

I do not that I enjoyed being on the water and in the bush. I do know that I enjoyed slowly working my way through thickets of vegetation and doing grunt work.

I also know that I did not get Ross River fever, somehow.

Was very attractive to mosquitoes, but did not get any illnesses. I’m pretty sure that I was very lucky in that regard.

Other things that happened: counting, measuring, data compiling, reading, walking, photography, events of certain and considerable interest, and so on.

Being away from the city was as pleasant as it needed to be and enough of something to help me feel a little less tense.

I also know that by  the end of the field trip I was not feeling too happy and just wanted to get back home.

I think that I need a bit of a break at the moment.

I don’t know.

I do know that sitting here and having a bit of routine once more is something that is making it a bit easier to deal with the day at the moment, but the third coffee is going to overturn that very soon.

Sometimes I really love being in the bush. I don’t often enjoy being in the bush around  other people. Well, other people for a period longer than a couple of days.

I don’t know why. Perhaps people bother me to some extent. Perhaps I just prefer nature over people.

Still, people are something to love and appreciate at times.

Sorry. I’m rambling which is really surprising.

So I’m back from the field trip, enjoyed the views and the grunt work but overall am more happy to be back in Sydney despite my distaste for Sydney.

Being in the bush was great. It was nice that it felt refreshing in a sense and it was nice to be able tp do a bit of walking.

I guess that means that it points to something in the future, but what that is I do not know.

Only tomorrow will show me what is next.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:07:71

Well, this is really weak.

I’ve written better.
