More Than Worth the Time

So once again I am sitting in the computer lab at uni, thinking about my life.

Well, actually, I was reading through a long forum post.

Actually, it was a series of posts and none of them were particularly long.

The point is that I am sitting here and I am now thinking about things.

I’m thinking about friendships and having a friend that you’ve known for a long time.

I’m thinking of knowing a friend for so long and being through enough with them that, despite getting annoyed and angry with them from time to time, you still genuinely love them dearly as you know that they are worth, more than the time you are able to give them.

When I think of one particular friend, I think of these things. I think of him seeing me at some of my lowest points and I think of him seeing me at some of my best.

I think of some of the stupid things that I’ve done and how I’m completely comfortable with doing those stupid things with him.

I also think about how at times he’s more like family to me than my own family.

There’s certain ways that you can only open up to with certain people, and I’d say that this particular friend is certainly one of them.

Some friendships go through struggles and that’s fine, so long as you bounce back and keep on being friends. I don’t know if we are going through a struggle right now, but if we are, I can only hope that we do indeed come back together with a friendship stronger than before.

I don’t really know what I’m writing here. I guess I’m saying that I miss my friend, despite it not being that long since we last spoke.

It feels weird to have a sense of tension there, as I don’t know if I’m imagining it or if it is indeed real.

Either way, my friend is still my friend and I would much rather prefer to be doing things with him.

I guess what I’m saying here is that a close friendship is a very precious thing and there’s only a few people you will meet in your life that get you and are genuine. Cherish those people, as just like my friend, they are more than worth the time.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 372: A Need for Progress

Well, where we go, into the void of the typing in order to get somewhere that is not where I was. I had written something up this morning but had to abandon for various reasons that I will not get into in the present moment.

I am now writing once more but am out of ideas to use to write for there are things that I was writing about and now I am just writing gibberish.

Uni over the summer is not the best idea that I’ve had, but at the same time I am glad that I’ve decided to take the subjects that I’ve taken.

However, I do know that I am behind with both assignments, and one is now overdue, which is a big problem.

In other news, I now have a fancy new camera lens. It is both fancy, new and a camera lens. Am I happy?

You could say that.

It would be a correct statement, to be honest.

Or would it?

I do not know. Or do I?

I am sitting here, wearing gloves in an office with air con that is set to a temperature that is too low. This is not the most ideal of situations, but it is the situation in which I am currently in.

I want to go outside and do a lot of testing of the new lens. There is one slight problem, however:

The new lens is for a full frame camera and I am using a crop sensor camera.

Still, the few test photos that I have taken are looking into be quite good and that is always a plus.

Of course, when I say good, I do mean a little more clear than previous photos that I’ve taken.

I’m not a great photographer by any means, but I do indeed try as much as I can to capture the world and its changes as time continues to flow on past us all, despite our seldom acknowledgement of the situation.

When I think of Sydney as a city I think of how much it has changed and how little of an identity it seems to have.

Sure, it is , in some ways a city unlike any other, but it has little past as we continue to tear it down and build it up all over again, seemingly refusing to hold onto something that indicates where we’ve come from.

Sure, there is a need to progress and one should not hold onto what has been, but at the same time there should be an acknowledgement of the past, regardless of whether it is one that is good and acceptable, or one that is bloody and shameful.

There is something respectable into admitting to what has come before and yet moving forward. There is something that is not respectable in trying to run from what has happened.

Well, hopefully I can test the lens on new and old things in the city.

Well, more than I already have.

Possibly.

A pseudo-rant.

Sydney Cityscape from Sydney Harbour

A fairly small, yet big city as seen from Sydney Harbour.

I do like the organisation of the buildings as seen from this particular point, as well as the space around the city.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 371: That Which Lies Before Me

The morning is bearing the day onward into unknown territories as a car drives around the highway that waves around coasts, along cliffs and through plains.

The sky continues to heave and convulse among the amphitheater of the life that needs to be lived in order to get to a destination that is one that is not quite known, but will one that one is trying to reach.

I can only see that which lies before me, as well as the things that I am able to imagine in my mind.

There is an unlimited reach within there, far beyond what I thought would be possible when I was a younger man, but the world outside of there is as equally vast and immeasurable to my insignificant being.

There are things that need to be seen to be believed, but they are there, out there waiting to be seen. They are there waiting to be experienced.

There are amazing vistas surrounded by amazing scenes and small areas full of wonder and excitement and they are all outside of the worlds that I can create in my mind.

They are all there for people to see and discover and yet all we do is go into cities and keep ourselves contained to small areas, whilst the world remains forgotten and gradually unexplored, despite the proliferation of the effects of human activity almost everywhere.

There are things that cannot be seen all of the time, but require specific conditions in order to be seen.

There are days beyond the next few that will eventually be visited.

There are desires that can be fulfilled.

There is a lot out there and there is a lot inside, but there needs to be times when beyond the door we must venture in order to see a little more of what is out there, as well as little more of ourselves.

There is so much to see and do and yet all we will do is rest on our laurels as the waves crash and the wind blows through leaves and branches and the days go on by, unassumingly in order to get to the next station of life.

There is so much, so very much that we do not know about the planet and yet we assume so much about it and it is a real shame.

I know that in order to go on further I must trip the root and reach the goal that is set before me, lest I decide not to and give up on the journey ahead, leaving m,e to only ponder what could have been instead of what awaits.

We need to make sure that we always push on forward to a new destiny, for there is many a route that can be taken and in looking back and refusing to move we only stung our own growth through the journey of life.

But the sky is heaving and convulsing, and the lands push out forever and a day.

So this is another one that got a bit more serious than I expected and it really could have been worded much better.

Oh well.

Sydney Opera House from the Harbour

The Sydney Opera House as seen…

Anyway, I took this photo whilst on a ferry.

I think it’s a bit of a lucky shot.

The Opera House does not quite look like itself and cuts the city into two areas; one full of buildings up close and another off in the distance, with a few more trees.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 370: Tearing at the Hair

My arms are hurting, as the wind blows upon them, pulling away at the muscles and tearing at the hair as it whips around in the sunset of the horizontal view that we can all see.

My muscles hurt and these are the things that I must deal with.

I must be able to push on through, fists stretched forward. I must be able to push on through, fish stretched forward.

Once there, once the pain subsides I will be able to row on into the food of joy where the sun has melted into the sauce of reality and things will blend together in a dance known only to those who know the dance, for there is no knowing the knowing of the dance when it is a secret kept only by those who know what the secret is one that must be upheld in order to protect the knowledge that could be used for the purposes of misuse.

There are things that we must obey, and in order to obey them there are procedures that must be followed.

If there is a nail that can only be hit by using the common existence that we all must inhabit and share with each other, than one must raise their leg in order to open the door that leads to the tomb of all that which is not a butterfly in order to receive the chocolate orange of life diffused through a sieve, for there is no other way to say yes to the tree of the bee that inhabits within me.

I do know that sometimes when punching through nothingness a wall will be reached, as the immovable force of the punch will be met by the immovable emotions and stoic nature of the nothingness.

What could possibly happen if there is no solution to the root cause of the problem?

Surely the sea would know if there was a way across the body of its vast greatness.

Surely that there is a chance that it would know if the sky pressed down upon its being, forcing the answers out in a spray of wild mannerisms as waves crash over the land and engulf that which we hold dear, for this was the outcome we brought upon ourselves and must shed a tear and out own lack of compassion and great injustice that we commit upon the earth in order to make sure that we are as comfortable as possible, as we are separating ourselves more and more from nature and will one day find it to be something so alien to us that we dare not venture out of the comfort of our own homes.

Yes, there must be tears shed, for the death of humanity and nature is the death of the lives that we so verily lead in order to continue on with what we can and cannot do.
Tears must be shed, and the restoration of balance must be achieved, lest we wipe ourselves out.

Not sure as to why this became really serious, but there you go.

Not too sure as to how I feel about this writing.

It certainly is something.

Taffy Island

From above, a photo of Taffy Island was taken.

It is rather small and would, other than the sound of water and possibly some animals, experience a lot of “Silence“.

I like the small amount of vegetation almost appearing as though it were a shell, as well as the shadows from the clouds being cast on the water.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Manly Ferry Terminal

Manly Ferry Terminal, as seen in Manly.

A long wharf with a few shops, restaurants and cafés jutting out into the water in order for passengers to catch the ferry to wherever it goes (usually Circular Quay).

I think that the buildings and their rigidity contrast well with the waves on this particular day (it was windy).

This is my entry into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.

I strongly recommend checking it out to see what other people have submitted, as well as checking out Leanne’s work outside of M.M.

I also recommend submitting and being part of M.M. It’s a fun, community-driven thing.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Yachts

Yesterday I walked from Spit Bridge to Manly.

It was the first time I’d seen Spit Bridge raised.

These yachts were passing through to the other side.

I’m not sure about the light balance, but I do like the cooler colouring and the simplicity of the photo.

I also like how the yachts are heading to one point past the area in this photo.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 369: The Weather from this Morning

Where did this weather come from this morning?

It seemed to roll on over the suburbs out of nowhere, coming to quench the land of its thirsty thirst in order to satiate the world and keep it from becoming far too dry.

It seemed to come out in order to make my washing dry a little slower, but at the same time give the plants that I grow a little more sustenance than they have recently received from the sky.

It seemed to come down in order to make sure that people would have to swim, or row their boat to work in order to get to the institution known as work.

I wonder where it came from.

It is a mystery.

Perhaps it came from the earth, rising in parts before it became a throbbing mass that would engulf the sky, which by then it was too late to do anything about it growing and engulfing all, casting the sky in grey and white before pouring its contents upon the surface below.

However, it is not a heavy deluge, but merely a light drizzle that we have to deal with at the moment, and no everywhere must face this wrath.

Perhaps it will grow to become something far heavier than we have seen in a long, long time. If that is indeed the case, then there may just be actual swimming along the streets in order to get home.

Suddenly the commute will become a contest of fitness, pushing us further forward into fitness.

But then, if it did not rain too heavily everyone will have to deal with the tyranny of traffic and the error of its ways.

Yes, these are things that must be considered in a post-post society.

Indeed, and verily so!

Perhaps it will snow. If it is indeed snow, then everyone will truly be in a position of disadvantage, aside from those who prepared, as then we will have to trudge in the snow uphill in darkness with no shoes and enjoy it in order to make our way to our humble abodes, aside from those who live in small mansions, in which they will be trudging their way to their over-sized fortresses.

Perhaps if the streets do flood heavily and remain so for days, we will finally see the inevitable rise of the amphicar as people would probably prefer to drive those around than boats everywhere, as if it was all boats in Sydney then people would find new and more fantastic ways of being really horrible drivers.

Perhaps the weather that has sneaked up on us will sneak away when it is done causing menace and terror in our hearts, leading us to cower in fear from the light drizzle that befalls upon our being and causes us to cry out in misery.

Perhaps the flowers will grow tall and the vegetables and fruits plenty.

Perhaps there will be advantages, but the clothes will most certainly dry much slower than I desire.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:44:33

Well, I think I was trying to write something a little more normal and ended up with something… kind of normal?

I don’t know.
